Kmail cannot open emails forwarded by itself. Actually it's not just mail forwarded by itself, which can't be opened, Kmail cannot open ANY mails forwarded to you by no mather who, apart from selecting it in the structure pane. It does not matter whether the email is part of an imap account or moved to a local folder. To reproduce just forward an email as attachment with kmail to yourself, click on the forwarded message link in the received email and pick open with kmail view. It will tel you that the file does not contain a message. If you use the email structure pane you can access the forwarded email.
