Strangely enough I enabled it afterwards again, but the crash did not return. Kmail is running now for a couple of hours with nepomuk fully activated without a crash. I had kmail immediately crashing after start after update to 4.8.1 as well. What helped to me was removing ~/.kde/share/config/kmail2rc. This is not nice since I lost a lot of settings with that, but after that I got a kmail that works at least.
