If not, try installing a package called akonadi-search. If the problem persists, can you try with a fresh user? I.e., set up an IMAP account, let it download and index some emails, and try to search in them? Can you confirm the following: If a search fails, i.e. returns no or wrong results, deleting the corresponding search folder breaks the folder tree view. Anyway, it is unrelated to the original bug described here, which is a duplicate. Please always report different bugs in different reports. Mixing up several bugs in one report makes it much harder to tell which comment refers to which symptoms, which makes bug hunting much harder.
