I cannot reproduce the problem in kmail 5.15.2, supr, shift+supr, ctrl+supr,
ctrl+shift+supr all work as expected.

The bug can be closed

I can confirm this behavior with kmail 5.5.1

Today I realized that the multiple selection delete works, and that the problem
is that when you click on a message in the list, it gets "deselected" or
"defocused" for some reason, which didn't happen before. So if you for example
try to select multiple messages by holding Shift and clicking on one of them,
they are not "focused" until you do it twice. What's the point of this
behaviour?
