[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1482979] [NEW] RealTek RTL8821AE at Asus R510L with Ubuntu 14.04 disconnect issues and ping dropped packages

2015-08-09 Thread BemNum
Public bug reported:

Hello,

The problem occurs at Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Asus R510L notebook with RTL8821ae
driver. Wifi has the following problems:
- Wifi periodically disconnects and stops working - system reboot needed,
- Around 10-20% of ping packages is dropped,
- dmesg reports a lot of stuff with rtl8821ae-0.

The above were tested while connecting with Asus,TPlink and Linksys
Access Points.

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
Release:14.04
$ cat /proc/version_signature
Ubuntu 3.13.0-61.100-generic 3.13.11-ckt22

I attach the following files:
$ dmesg|grep rtl8821ae  dmesg_rtl8821ae.log
$ sudo lspci -vnvn  lspci-vnvn.log

I'd be grateful for any information how to fix the bug.

Best regards,
BN

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1482995] Re: Blank screen after suspend, unresposnsive

2015-08-09 Thread Páll Haraldsson
I meant to add there, this bug I added, might be totally unrelated:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1482892

It just hapened straight after this one, while I was trying what it says
to get a change to report this one..

With THIS bug I didn't turn off the WiFi (manually), but suspend does
that.. and I believe I didn't get a PANIC (no blinking lights).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1482995] Re: Blank screen after suspend, unresposnsive

2015-08-09 Thread Páll Haraldsson
The syslog.1 is probably in no way helpful. The test I quoted at the
original bug report at the time of suspend came from syslog.1, but now
it is syslog.2.gz so I uploaded that one. Even that doesn't say much so
I uploaded syslog.3gz if that is helpful.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1070207] Re: Trackpoint doesn't work on Thinkpad L530

2015-08-09 Thread Dawid
I still have a problem with trackpoint (trusty). Using elantech patch is
working okay, I installed dkms module and... it's not initializing
automatically. Trackpoint is not working, however when I use this
modprobing:

sudo modprobe -rv psmouse sudo modprobe -v psmouse

It is starting work (trackpoint and scrolling) to the next restart. I
don't know why it's happening. I have correct entry in /etc/modprobe.d
/trackpoint-elantech.conf. I am attaching dmesg.log to clear the
picture.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1481991] [NEW] 900 second pause on boot

2015-08-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I boot from a 3.13.0.x kernel I get a very odd 900 second (15
minute!) pause on boot (see attached dmesg log). Once past the pause
the system works normally and with no issues. If I boot from a 3.2.0.x
kernel there is no pause.

$  cat /etc/issue.net
Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS

$ uname -a
Linux ubuntu 3.13.0-61-generic #100-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jul 29 11:22:15 UTC 2015
i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

I'm happy to provide any other information that would be useful.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1443888] Re: No sound on ThinkPad docking station

2015-08-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Daniel Saier, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from
kernel 4.2-rc4 to 4.2-rc5 in order to identify the last bad commit,
followed immediately by the first good one. Once this commit has been
identified, then it may be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into
your release. Could you please do this following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F
?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.

Thank you for your understanding.

I have a Thinkpad T450s. The sound works normally unless it is plugged
in to the docking station (a ThinkPad Ultra Dock). If speakers are
plugged in to the dock, the internal speakers get disabled correctly,
but the output of the docking station does not work. Speakers which
are plugged in directly on the Laptop still work.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1481991] Re: 900 second pause on boot

2015-08-09 Thread Andy Whitcroft
Does this occur with older kernels. Assuming not, which version was the
last one which was good. I think this is a kernel issue, moving there.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1432869] Re: No wireless access for BCM 43162 [14e4:43ae] rev 02

2015-08-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Ryan, wl is not the correct package for this issue.

Support is to come from the linux kernel (open source), and via the
bcmwl driver (proprietary) as upstream decides.

John, could you please connect via ethernet and then run the apport-
collect previously requested?

[Lenovo SazanW-2] system got hang and screen became black after

Status in HWE Next:

Bug description:
  CID : 201412-16338 SazanW-2

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Broadwell-U
Integrated Graphics [8086:1616] (rev 09)
  08:00.0 3D controller [0302]: NVIDIA Corporation Device [10de:137a] (rev a2)

  Repro steps:
  1. Install 14.04.2 on SazanW-2
  2. Execute upgrade by 'Software Updater'
  3. Make sure kernel upgrade from 3.16.0-30 to 3.16.0-36
  4. Reboot system and verify the result.

  Actual result:
a, Booting, GRUB is pass, then system got hang and screen became black.
tty1~7 are useless.

b, Try to add a 'text' kernel parameter on GRUB page, booting system,
  got the same actual result.

c, After system got hang, try to get logs via 'SSH', get result
  'Connection refused'.

  Notes:
Because there is no available NV driver, system is working on 8086:1616 now.
Since I can not get any logs under 3.16.0-36, just attach all logs under
3.16.0-30 here.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1401741] Re: rtl8188ee wireless driver high packet loss

2015-08-09 Thread Bryan Quigley
The machine has been running on an external wifi card for a while, and
it's working fine. I've swapped out the RTL8188ee card for an Atheros
(mini pci) and this should let us see if it's really RTL8188ee to blame
or not (or a antenna, location issue).

I did complete a series of wireshark tests and determined packets are only lost
on the receive side.
I did ping -i 0.05 -c 1000 -s 512 to and from the machine in question, (to a
machine 1 foot away). Over 4 runs (2 from, 2 to), 2-9 packets were lost, ALL
when going - RTL8188ee. No packets were ever lost sending from RTL8188ee to
other machine.

Title:
rtl8188ee wireless driver high packet loss

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
This is a toshiba c55d laptop. I've seen this issue since trusty, very
bad packet loss, varrying in ping from 10%-45% to Verizon MI424WR-
GEN3I AP with WPA2 running in Compatibility Mode(802.11b/g/n). No
other devices on network have ever had this issue, in fact any loss of
ICMP packets almost never occurs on other devices from same location.

Already tried mainline (3.18.0) with no noticeable improvement.

I will be trying the Realtek (from their website) - didn't work, not for this
kernel.
  https://github.com/FreedomBen/rtl8188ce-linux-driver - didn't help.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1482944] Re: 3.13.0-58 (also 3.13.0-59, 61) bursting Lenovo Y470N

2015-08-09 Thread Kaijia Feng
** Summary changed:

- 3.13.0-59 (also 3.13.0-61) bursting Lenovo Y470N
+ 3.13.0-58 (also 3.13.0-59, 61) bursting Lenovo Y470N

** Description changed:

+ Update: it seems that this change happened in 3.13.0-58, not 3.13.0-59.
+
+ I observed the temperature for a hour running in 3.13.0-58 and 3.13.0-57
+ without any operation. And found that the temperature using 3.13.0-57 is
+ only around 50°C. So it seems that the problem started at 3.13.0-58 and
+ was getting worse ever since.
+
+
+
I noticed my Lenovo Y470N is really hot after switching to kernel
  3.13.0-61. Then I installed 3.13.0-59 (which I didn't use before) to
have a test and had the similar phenomenon.

Prior to 3.13.0-59, the usual temperature of my Y470N is around 60°C.

  ~$ sudo sensors

  Core 1: +56.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

When I was using 3.13.0-59 or 3.13.0-61. The temperature never goes down
to 65°C. In most cases, it's around 70°C.

  ~$ sudo sensors

  Core 1: +65.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

After surfing the web for half an hour this can even up to 90°C. For
example, here's the sensors result after I finish typing this bug
  report.

  ~$ sudo sensors

  Core 1: +83.0°C (high = +86.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

As a result the fan is getting louder and louder every time. And I can
sense the taste of burnt at the air vent.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1434978] Re: HP Zbook 14 G2: systems restart after shutdown

2015-08-09 Thread Luc Stroobant
Much to my surprise, the issue was resolved after a reinstall of the
system. I can't explain why, I don't think there was anything special
with my previous install. Maybe it's related to the fact that the BIOS
is upgraded in the meanwhile, I don't know...

HP Zbook 14 G2: systems restart after shutdown

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
When I use the shutdown option in the menu or run sudo poweroff on my new
Zbook 14 G2, the system shuts down and powers up again right after the restart.
I have to push the power button again during startup to avoid it to restart.
The system is more or less supported by Ubuntu* and the BIOS is up to date, so
I thought this is worth a bug report...
(I don't have a preinstalled system by HP, since I can't buy these here, this
is an Ubunutu 15.04)

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1477859] Re: Onboard Audio not working on Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140

2015-08-09 Thread Tudor Holton
It works! In mainline kernel 4.2.0-rc5, if you go into alsamixer and
unmute the SPO channel, then suddenly there's playback! :-D

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1464757] Re: Audio broken on Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140

2015-08-09 Thread Tudor Holton
It's not quite that simple.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1464757 points out
that you still have to unmute the SPO channel in alsamixer to actually
get sound.
