The issue is fixed (from a 4 hour test I presume). The tested kernel was linux-4.2.0-994-generic. The issue is still present even after upgrade to 14.10. The problem is that system sometimes does not suspend correctly. After initiating suspend the display is being turned off completely, HDDs are being stopped, but fan remains ON and the PC LED also stays on. The only possibility is to make hard reset using the HW button on the pc. Pressing power button will neither suspend/turn off computer nor turn in on again. I can reproduce this issue randomly - approximately 1 out of 5 suspends will fail. It looks first suspend after reboot will always work fine. Then some of the suspends after successfull resume will fail (randomly). I also tried fresh install of Ubuntu 14.10, but the suspend kept failing as well. Checking /var/log/pm-suspend.log did not help me as there is always "performing suspend" message either after correct suspend or failed suspend. Samsung ATIV Book 9 NP930X2K I have updated to ubuntu 15.04, kernel 3.19, the solution of #244 worked like a charm with kernel 3.19 BUT with this kernel, I failed to have USB and graphic working (hopefully I was able to configure and test wifi with nmcli). So now I have the choice between kernel 3.16 and wifi with a USB dongle OR kernel 3.19 with wifi but a lot of other issues to fix. The brightness settings (Fn+Up/Down) work although they seem to skip a level each time. '/proc/acpi/video/VID/LCD/brightness' tells me that it supports brightness levels 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84 and 100. Without gnome- power-manager running pressing Fn+Up will transition up into each level and back down again smoothly. When gnome-power-manager is running increasing the brightness from 12 I can only get levels 36, 60, 84 and 100. Decreasing the levels from 100 I only get 72, 48, 24 and 12. Running gnome-power-manager with the verbose option shows that when I press the brightness-up button once it is recorded twice. I ran gnome-power-manager in a debugger thinking it was a timing issue and it still happened. I have included the output from pressing the brightness-up button (Fn+Up) once below. This only happens when gnome-power-manager is running and did not happen using Feisty. I have looked at the code and I cannot see why the button event is triggered twice, I don't have any experience of the code but if you can give me any ideas of where to start I can try to look into this myself. My Dell XPS 14Z has Intel Centrino Advanced 6230 WLAN adapter and with Linux driver, the connection often drops and even the bandwidth is reduced to 5 Mpbs from 25 Mpbs which I get in Windows. I am aware that the bug was present even in Windows but a firmware update is released. I tried to follow Ubuntu forums and wireless Kernel page to keep track of this bug and I didn't find any change to this Linux driver or even a work around. I followed the suggestions from the forums and the result is unfruitful and remains the same with each iteration of Kernel version. I tried 15.04, other variants of Linux distribution although knowing that every distribution use the same firmware from kernel.org. I lost my hope already and looking for an alternative PCI-e Wifi adapter. @Simon @Andiropoulos 1) Turn bluetooth on in the phone and click Ford Audio in the list of devices 2) The car shows a pin that you enter in the phone 3) The phone should list Ford Audio always as Connected. However, what is seen if that Ford Audio sometimes appear in the "Connect a device:" section as connected, other times in "Connect automatically when detected" section as disconnected. I could not understand the behavior. 4) Normally, after doing 1 and 2 in every other phone the blue indicator is always on When I try to connect again the phone to the car, I always have to enter a new pin. So I've looked into this some more and the theory is sound. There are, however, a few stumbling blocks. The first is software-properties-gtk is a bit rubbish because it doesn't provide much feedback about the package installation process. So if the firmware download fails then the firmware-b43-installer package is left in an unconfigured state, but the user is unaware of this. When you re- run the software-properties-gtk utility, the package is incorrectly marked as being used. There is even no error message when the download of the firmware-b43-installer package fails. So the user if left thinking "why isn't this working?". A message saying "please check your internet connection" is badly needed. The modaliases line used by the wl driver captures the whole sweep of broadcom cards. So people with unsupported cards are told to install it. Gosh, no wonder people have so many problems with broadcom! When they install wl this automatically blacklists and removes the b43, ssb, bcma, etc modules. This adds to the next problem: what modaliases should firmware-b43-installer use? I have to ask, but whose idea was it to create these seperate packages?! They've caused so much mayhem! Also, in the modaliases file (e.g. debian/firmware-b43-installer.modaliases) you can't use the name of an existing module (e.g. alias blahblahblah b43). They don't rmmod/modprobe the b43/b43legacy modules therefore requiring a system reboot. Again, the user is not informed to do this.
