[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1525228] Re: Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 cannot connect to encrypted 5Ghz networks
I repeated my tests with a known AP with success! It was an Asus RT-AC56U Firmware Version: 3.0.0.4.378_4585 This site will propably contain all the information about the AP: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_RT-AC56U The network i associated with is secured by WPA2. ** Attachment added: "related dmesg lines" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1525228/+attachment/4541789/+files/wifilog -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1525228 Title: Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4 cannot connect to encrypted 5Ghz networks Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The device works fine with Ubuntu 15.10 mainline kernel 4.2.0 and the firmware provided in linux-firmware on 2,4 Ghz wifi networks or unencrypted 5GHz networks. But when i connect to a encrypted 5Ghz network. The firmware provide in linux-firmware (WLAN.RM.1.1-00141) crashed like i think is described here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1516384 So i installed the latest firmware release SW_RM.1.1.1-00157-QCARMSWPZ-1 from ath10k-firmware (https://github.com/kvalo/ath10k-firmware/) In this version the firmware doesn't crash but goes into a loop. Like you see in dmesg, the device associates with the AP, but from an unknown reason it cannot connect. At the moment i cannot provide you any details about the AP im testing with, because im using my universities network, but if you really need them i can test the device with an known AP in a week or so. I reported the bug to the ath10k mailing list, but i think the topic got lost: http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/ath10k/2015-November/006478.html PS: I tested the problem with all mainline and upstream kernels(4.2.6, 4.3.0,4.4rc4) without any difference. - ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 Package: linux-image-4.2.0-21-generic 4.2.0-21.25 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.2.0-21.25-generic 4.2.6 Uname: Linux 4.2.0-21-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.19.1-0ubuntu5 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: roman 2043 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: roman 2043 F pulseaudio CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Fri Dec 11 14:01:58 2015 HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=38f2bb72-0ff3-498e-ab17-249df8b33aef InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-10-23 (49 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Release amd64 (20151021) MachineType: Acer Aspire VN7-571G ProcFB: 0 inteldrmfb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.2.0-21-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=da03328e-3129-4dfc-98d7-b8b06fa3d5f1 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-4.2.0-21-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-4.2.0-21-generic N/A linux-firmware1.149.3 SourcePackage: linux UdevLog: Error: [Errno 2] Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden: '/var/log/udev' UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 01/08/2015 dmi.bios.vendor: Insyde Corp. dmi.bios.version: V1.14 dmi.board.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.board.name: Aspire VN7-571G dmi.board.vendor: Acer dmi.board.version: V1.14 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Acer dmi.chassis.version: V1.14 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnInsydeCorp.:bvrV1.14:bd01/08/2015:svnAcer:pnAspireVN7-571G:pvrV1.14:rvnAcer:rnAspireVN7-571G:rvrV1.14:cvnAcer:ct10:cvrV1.14: dmi.product.name: Aspire VN7-571G dmi.product.version: V1.14 dmi.sys.vendor: Acer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/1525228/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1454450] Re: Bluetooth mouse laggy and erratic
I observe this in a 15.10 installation. Linux 4.2.0-18-generic #22-Ubuntu SMP Fri Nov 6 23:32:28 UTC 2015 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux I'm using a logitech bluetooth kb+mouse. Everything works normally, then I watch a movie in Kodi and when I exit to desktop again, mouse is very laggy. So some kind of usb suspend might be involved. Within Kodi, after a while, the keyboard won't even reconnect so I have to exit with a remote. Once in the desktop the slugginesh manifests itself. Reloading the module as in comment #10 works for me, thanks for the workaround. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1454450 Title: Bluetooth mouse laggy and erratic Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I installed Ubuntu 15.04 (64 bit) on a DELL XPS 13 (model 9343, bios A03) notebook. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1291890] Re: Add Lenovo ThinkPad OneLink GigaLAN USB ID to ax88179 driver
It doesn't work for me, I have pretty much no idea how to do this. Can anyone please post step by step instructions for me? What I did so far: I have found a file called "ax88179_178a.ko" in "/lib/modules/3.13.0-74-generic/kernel/drivers/net" as well as in "/lib/modules/3.19.0-31-generic/kernel/drivers/net". I tried patching each of them with: patch "ax88179_178a.ko" < "0001-AX88179_178A-Add-VID-DID-for-Lenovo- OneLinkDock-Giga.patch" which returned in both cases: patching file ax88179_178a.ko Hunk #1 FAILED at 1418. Hunk #2 FAILED at 1435. 2 out of 2 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file ax88179_178a.ko.rej So my questions are: 1. What am I doing wrong? 2. "3.13.0-74-generic" and "3.19.0-31-generic" seem to be better than "3.13.0-18-generic", should the ethernet therefore work out of the box and I don't need to patch this? If so, I probably have another problem with my ethernet and would be grateful if someone can help me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1291890 Title: Add Lenovo ThinkPad OneLink GigaLAN USB ID to ax88179 driver Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux source package in Trusty: Fix Released Bug description: Many new Thinkpad laptops have a dock (Thinkpad OneLink Dock) containing a usb ethernet chip that is supported by the ax88179 driver. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1529266] Re: [HP Spectre x360 - 13-4005dx] suspend/resume failure
Actually, I did both reverse and forward bisects (see comments 11 and 12 respectively), but by reverse bisect didn't find the fix because the problem commit, 0691783, is a cherry pick of 4a1e2fe from the 4.3 branch. After locating the original commit I tested all the 4.3 releases and found they all demonstrate the bug. I've now isolated the fix between 4.3 and 4.4-rc1, so I'm starting a new reverse bisect to identify the fix. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1520343] Re: Qualcomm Atheros wireless card [168c:003e] (rev 32) not supported
Hey Dennis, thank you for your workaround. I had the same problems with not working wifi on my Acer Aspire V15 Nitro - Black Edition laptop. This is my lspci output: 07:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter [168c:003e] (rev 32) After using your fix, the wifi works like a charm but as you said my bluetooth mouse is lagging horrible while transfering data over wifi. Anything new on this problem? A final fix would be great. :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1520343 Title: Qualcomm Atheros wireless card [168c:003e] (rev 32) not supported Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: --- STATUS: Currently there is a fix for this problem in post #22 (originally post #19, but reposted due to command typos!) which seems to have fixed the issue for many. This bug is unique to revision 32 of the card [168c:003e], fixes for older revisions don't seem to work. There are a couple of issues regarding the fix for some people (not all): 1. Wireless works, but network throughput stops some time after connecting to access point 2. Bluetooth communications take a noticeable performance hit when transferring something over WiFi --- I have recently installed Ubuntu 15.10 (64-bit) alongside Windows 10 on an Acer Aspire VN7-792G-76ZH and discovered, that the Qualcomm wireless card doesn't work in it or 16.04. The card has the device id 168c:003e as many other cards, for example the Qualcomm Atheros Killer (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1383184), but it has a newer revision number (32) and the suggested fixes work only partially and the wireless is unusable. The computer has just been released this summer and is Intel Skylake -based. I've tried the patch from bug 1383184, which has a fix for the card revision 20: Make the directory /lib/firmware/ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/ and put in the patch files: board.bin firmware-4.bin notice_ath10k_firmware-4.txt ath10k_pci succeeds in loading the firmware, but it seems that the firmware is not working correctly: dmesg | grep ath [5.452683] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: pci irq msi-x interrupts 8 irq_mode 0 reset_mode 0 [5.678420] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: Direct firmware load for ath10k/cal-pci-:07:00.0.bin failed with error -2 [5.678773] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: Direct firmware load for ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/board-pci-168c:003e:11ad:0807.bin failed with error -2 [5.678781] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: failed to load spec board file, falling back to generic: -2 [5.679445] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: Direct firmware load for ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/firmware-5.bin failed with error -2 [5.679453] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: could not fetch firmware file 'ath10k/QCA6174/hw3.0/firmware-5.bin': -2 [7.802316] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: qca6174 hw3.2 (0x0503, 0x00340aff, 168c:003e:11ad:0807 fallback) fw WLAN.RM.2.0-00180-QCARMSWPZ-1 api 4 htt 3.26 wmi 4 cal otp max_sta 32 [7.802329] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: debug 0 debugfs 1 tracing 1 dfs 0 testmode 0 [8.200607] ath: EEPROM regdomain: 0x6c [8.200614] ath: EEPROM indicates we should expect a direct regpair map [8.200619] ath: Country alpha2 being used: 00 [8.200621] ath: Regpair used: 0x6c [8.216605] ath10k_pci :07:00.0 wlp7s0: renamed from wlan0 [ 13.462029] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: failed to enable dynamic BW: -11 [ 16.461416] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: could not suspend target (-11) [ 24.760062] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: failed to enable dynamic BW: -11 [ 27.759534] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: could not suspend target (-11) [ 36.046205] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: failed to set arp ac override parameter: -11 [ 39.045729] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: could not suspend target (-11) [ 47.344304] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: failed to enable dynamic BW: -11 [ 50.343794] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: could not suspend target (-11) [ 58.630534] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: failed to enable dynamic BW: -11 [ 61.629936] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: could not suspend target (-11) [ 69.920624] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: failed to enable dynamic BW: -11 [ 72.920132] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: could not suspend target (-11) [ 81.206812] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: failed to enable dynamic BW: -11 [ 84.206218] ath10k_pci :07:00.0: could not suspend target (-11) ... For some time now we have a problem with one of our servers, that happens sporadically (once in a day or two days) and causes are not still known. We searched on lauchpad and tried many possible solutions, but nothing helped. We had tried vanilla Ubuntu 14.04.3 kernel - 3.16.x, and also 3.19.0-25-generic and linux- image-3.19.0-33-generic - the same symptoms on all of these versions. We also tried to rollback to 3.13: 3.13.0-43-generic and 3.13.0-62-generic, but the problem still persists. Our current configuration is: Ubuntu 14.04.3 with kernel 3.13.0-43.72 with Xen 4.4.2-0ubuntu0.14.04.3 (this host is used as xen hypervisor with iSCSI initiator if it is important). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1529917] Re: mainline kernel fails to install in trusty
Upon further inspection, it seems that fstack-protector-strong was only introduced in gcc 4.9 while 4.8 is still the default for trusty. Thus, I believe the way to fix this problem would be to depend on gcc 4.9 and make some changes to the build system/dkms to force it to use gcc 4.9 instead of the default 4.8. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1524259] Re: igb: Detected Tx Unit Hang with stack trace

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1496761] Re: sudden system crash (frozen)
DDS, as per https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A97_R20/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2603). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not. 3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid. Thank you for your understanding. ** Changed in: linux-lts-trusty (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: linux-lts-trusty (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-lts-trusty in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1496761 Title: sudden system crash (frozen) Status in linux-lts-trusty package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: syslog with stacktrace attached ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: linux-image-3.13.0-64-generic 3.13.0-64.104~precise1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-64.104~precise1-generic 3.13.11-ckt26 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-64-generic x86_64 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version k3.13.0-64-generic. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1516251] Re: 10ec:b723 [HP Notebook - 15-ac106na] Wifi unstable
I've the same problem, its a Realtek rtl8327be and I think that the problem is related with the antennas like said in this post: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2304607=2 It appears that there are 2 antennas and that some manufacturers (hp and lenovo) only connect one with a cable that works as a physical antenna and that the driver is trying to connect to the other one So people have fixed this problem changing the cable from one connector to the other But anyway NO, Christopher, there isn't invalid because it works in windows so its not faulty hardware. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1529266] Re: [HP Spectre x360 - 13-4005dx] suspend/resume failure
Stephen, to advise, what you did was a reverse (not forward) bisect. Despite this, let this be marked Triaged for now, and the expectation would be that the identified commit is reviewed for backporting. ** Tags removed: needs-reverse-bisect ** Tags added: cherry-pick reverse-bisect-done ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Triaged ** Tags added: regression-release -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1529266 Title: [HP Spectre x360 - 13-4005dx] suspend/resume failure Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Upgrading from 15.04 to 15.10 my Spectre x360 is no longer able to suspend (either shutting the lid or sudo pm-suspend in a terminal). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1514078] Re: Ubuntu freezes on boot when asking for encryption password on kernels newer then 3.19.0-28-generic
Bradley Arsenault, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.19 to 4.4-rc7 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. After the fix commit (not kernel version) has been identified, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. Thank you for your understanding. When I start my computer, Ubuntu will prompt me to enter my disk encryption password. This works fine on the kernel 3.19.0-28-generic, but if I use any of the newer kernels, like 29, 30, 31 and 32, the system appears to freeze as soon as it gets to the prompt screen. I can't actually tell whats going on when its frozen. The only symptom is that it does not accept keyboard input anymore, so I can't actually enter my encryption password. Nothing happens when I press the keys. It might have been that 1) the whole computer had a kernel panic, 2) it might be frozen in some other way, 3) or it may be just that something went wrong when setting up my keyboard to accept input and that the computer is otherwise running fine. I don't really know, all I can really tell is that if I go back to an older kernel, like 28, it works absolutely fine, but anything newer and I can't boot my computer at all. --- ApportVersion: 2.17.2-0ubuntu1.7 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: bradley1734 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: bradley1734 F pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 EcryptfsInUse: Yes HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=a56109c4-0eb7-418f-b525-2ae82c52ec32 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-08-31 (73 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Release amd64 (20150422) Lsusb: Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 064e:9700 Suyin Corp.
