[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1316518] Re: [900X3G, Realtek ALC282, Mic, Internal] inverted mic not working
For me neither the internal nor a plugged in microphone work (besides USB ones). When I plug in a headset it activates my internal microphone but in horrible quality so that you can mainly only hear the fan rotating. But this seems to be an issue with pulseaudio as the plugged in microphone works well when I check alsamixer. anybody knows a fix? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316518 Title: [900X3G, Realtek ALC282, Mic, Internal] inverted mic not working Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Internal Mic of Samsung Ativ book 9 (NP900X3G) is not supported properly. (The NFS server's IP address moves from one machine to the other.) 3) Access the mounted NFS share. Expected results: Accessing the NFS mount works fine immediately. Actual results: Accessing the NFS mount hangs for 15 minutes. Then the TCP connection times out, a new connection is established, and it works fine again. After the IP moves, the new server responds to the client with TCP RST packets, just as I would expect. I would expect the client to tear down its TCP connection immediately and re-establish a new one. But it doesn't. Am I confused, or is this a bug? [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1542826] [NEW] NFS Client Ignores TCP Resets
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1) Mount NFS share from HA cluster with TCP. 2) Failover the HA cluster. For the duration of this test, ufw was disabled on the client machine. I have a packet capture. We've been using UDP instead of TCP as a work-around. Basic Introduction: ConnectX-4 HW architecture provides two kinds of underlying HW switches. MPFS (Multi Physical Function Switch) or L2 Table in Software terms: The HCA has one MPFS switch per physical port, this switch is responsible of forwarding Unicast traffic to the various overlying Physical Functions (PFs). Multicast traffic is flooded amongst all the PFs, Each PF can request to forward a unicast MAC to its E-Switch Uplink vport (which we will cover later) through SET_L2_TABLE_ENTRY HW command. MPFS has five ports, four are connected to PFs (one for each) and one is connected directly to the Physical Port (Physical Link). E-Switch (Ethernet Switch): The HCA has one per physical function. The main responsibility of this component is to forward Unicast/Multicast and vlan tagged/untagged traffic to the various Virtual Functions (VFs) allocated by the PF. Unlike MPFS, the PF needs to explicitly create the E-Switch FDB table, Which is a HW flow table managed by the PF driver whenever vport_group_manager capability bit is set for this PF. E-Switch has Virtual Ports (vports) entities as its ports, vport0 and uplink vport are special kind of vports that represents PF vport (vport0) and uplink vport which is connected to the MPFS switch (if exists) as the PF external link. vport1..vportN represent VF0..VF(N-1) egress/ingress ports. E-Switch FDB contains forwarding rules such as: UC MAC0 -> vport0(PF). UC MAC1 -> vport1. UC MAC2 -> vport2. MC MACX -> vport0, vport2, Uplink. MC MACY -> vport1, Uplink. For unmatched traffic FDB has the following default rules: Unmatched Traffic (src vport != Uplink) -> Uplink. Unmatched Traffic (src vport == Uplink) -> vport0(PF). NIC VPort context: Each NIC (VF/PF) has its own vport context which will be used to store the current NIC vport context (UC/MC and vlan lists) and other NIC properties such as MTU, promisc mode, etc.. NIC (VF/PF) driver is responsible of constantly updating this context. FDB rules population: Each NIC vport (VF/PF) will notify E-Switch manager of its UC/MC vport context changes via modify vport context command, which will be translated to an event that will be handled by E-Switch manager (PF) which will update FDB table accordingly. Both PF and VF use the same driver and submit commands directly to the firmware. The PF sees the vport_group_manager capability bit and as such runs the code to populate the embedded switches as explained above. The patch goes as follows: Patches 1-2 introduces the basic PCI SRIOV functionalities and the support of Connectx4 to enable specific VFs via enable/disable HCA commands. These two patches will be also in use later for the IB SRIOV flow. Patches 3-8 Introduces the basic E-Switch capabilities and commands to be used later by VF to modify and update its NIC vport context, and by PF (E-Switch Manager) driver to Query the VF NIC context and acts accordingly. Patches 9-10 Provide the needed functionality of a NIC driver VF/PF to support SRIOV, mainly vport context update support. Patch 11 ("net/mlx5: Introducing E-Switch and l2 table"), Introduces the basic E-Switch support and infrastructure to read vport context events and to update MPFS L2 Table of the UC mac addresses request by

Patch 11 ("net/mlx5: Introducing E-Switch and l2 table"), Introduces the basic E-Switch support and infrastructure to read vport context events and to update MPFS L2 Table of the UC mac addresses request by the PF. Patches 12-18 Introduces SRIOV enablemenet and E-Switch FDB table management It adds the Basic E-Swtich public API to set and get sriov properties to be used in PF netdev sriov ndos. Patchset was applied ontop of commit 3f8c0f7 "gianfar: use of_property_read_bool()" Saeed, Eli and Or. Eli Cohen (2): net/mlx5_core: Modify enable/disable hca functions net/mlx5_core: Add base sriov support Saeed Mahameed (18): net/mlx5: Add HW capabilities and structs for SR-IOV E-Switch. net/mlx5: Update access functions to Query/Modify vport MAC address net/mlx5: Introduce access functions to modify/query vport mac lists net/mlx5: Introduce access functions to modify/query vport state net/mlx5: Introduce access functions to modify/query vport promisc mode net/mlx5: Introduce access functions to modify/query vport vlans net/mlx5e: Write UC/MC list and promisc mode into vport context
[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1539158] Re: Unable to pair with in-car hands-free system after OTA-9 update
I asked this because I read that it's dangerous switch in RW mode. At this url: http://askubuntu.com/questions/600065/consequences-of-using-apt-get-in-ubuntu-touch I read this: http://askubuntu.com/a/600313 ['evergreen' answer] "By default the system is read-only. You can switch to read-write mode, although this disables Ubuntu system upgrades. The main purpose for this is developing the Ubuntu system directly. This is not required for developing apps or using the system normally. Recovering from read-write mode is possible but requires reinstalling the system from scratch. Warning: Switching a device to read-write mode (and/or recovering from it) is an advanced feature and may result in complete data loss. Warning: Switching a device to read-write mode disables automatic over-the-air delta updates. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1542862] [NEW] pl2303h and ftdi serial port bug
Public bug reported: When developing an application using serial ports, behaviour between process restarts is undefined for particular usb serial port chipsets. Tested chipsets to fail are: * pl2303H * ftdi Tested chipsets to work are: * 16550A * pl2303ra Attached is a minimal test program to recreate the issue. The program needs to run twice, the first to create the problem, the second instance that shows the problem. See the comments at the beginning of the test program to see expected output and observed output. Note, flushing, and other workarounds haven't worked, only physically removing and reinserting the problematic devices between runs (in particular, the device that is receiving the data over the serial port). As there appears to be data in a buffer between runs that can't be properly flushed, I can't say if this is a potential security issue or not. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1523917] Re: Macbook Air 6.2 suspend immediately resumes
The fine folks at ArchLinux provide possible solutions to this issue. See: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MacBook#Suspend_and_Hibernate I'll the steps below first and see if this solves the issue for me. "Issues were reported where the machine would "suspend immediately after resume" in certain conditions when suspending by closing the lid. This was solved by de-selecting the option "event_when_closed_battery" in gconf-editor → gnome-power-manager → actions). " And: "If after suspend laptop is woken up after few seconds, may help to disable all stuff in /proc/acpi/wakeup, exclude LID0: # echo XHC1 > /proc/acpi/wakeup $ cat /proc/acpi/wakeup Device S-state Status Sysfs node P0P2 S3*disabled ECS3*disabled HDEF S3*disabled pci::00:1b.0 RP01 S3*disabled pci::00:1c.0 RP02 S3*disabled pci::00:1c.1 RP03 S3*disabled pci::00:1c.2 ARPT S4*disabled pci::03:00.0 RP05 S3*disabled pci::00:1c.4 RP06 S3*disabled pci::00:1c.5 SPIT S3*disabled XHC1 S3*disabled pci::00:14.0 ADP1 S3*disabled LID0 S3*enabled And for permanent disabling: $ cat /etc/udev/rules.d/90-xhc_sleep.rules # disable wake from S3 on XHC1 SUBSYSTEM=="pci", KERNEL==":00:14.0", ATTR{power/wakeup}="disabled" If this does not work, check that ARPT is disabled, and add the corresponding rule to udev. If this still does not work, try disabling LID0. This way suspending via lid-closing should be made impossible, so you might want to follow the instructions in this forum post to make suspending via both lid-closing and systemd possible, by using systemd services. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1542941] [NEW] Regression: problems migrating recent wily/vivid Xen VMs due to memory hotplug fix
Public bug reported: Commit 633d6f17cd91ad5bf2370265946f716e42d388c6 (aka 38d30afb12140c0e3a446fe779dc9cd29548f313 in vivid) in Xen domU causes high resource requirements in the underlying target dom0 (migrating a 64-bit domU involves a 1GB malloc in dom0, as well as a lot of unnecessary work). In my specific case, that 1GB malloc fails as my dom0s aren't big enough, causing all migrations to fail with the migrating VM suspended. This is fixed in commit 98dd166ea3a3c3b57919e20d9b0d1237fcd0349d "x86/xen: prepare p2m list for memory hotplug": """ Commit 054954eb051f35e74b75a566a96fe756015352c8 ("xen: switch to linear virtual mapped sparse p2m list") introduced a regression regarding to memory hotplug for a pv-domain: as the virtual space for the p2m list is allocated for the to be expected memory size of the domain only, hotplugged memory above that size will not be usable by the domain. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1049466] Re: Need support of Ralink RT3290 wifi support
At the moment I'm running Gentoo and I have working rt3290 wifi and bluetooth support. These drivers are originally from ralinktech.com so I'm talking about the same rt3290sta. For bluetooth support I've build rtbth with some minor changes in order to support recent kernels. My kernel is 4.1.15 so it should work with recent ubuntu releases. rt3290 (it should be the same from this thread, two years old, but still works for me, as is): https://github.com/pkeeper/rt3290sta rtbth (it has dkms.conf so to build it in Ubuntu should be straight forward): https://github.com/alinefr/rtbth I'm still waiting for upstream support so we wouldn't need to rely on old manufacturer buggy drivers but for now it does the trick. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1049466 Title: Need support of Ralink RT3290 wifi support Status in Linux: New Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in linux source package in Precise: Invalid Status in linux-firmware source package in Precise: Fix Released Status in linux source package in Quantal: Invalid Status in linux-firmware source package in Quantal: Won't Fix Status in linux source package in Raring: Fix Released Status in linux-firmware source package in Raring: Fix Released Status in linux package in Baltix: Opinion Status in linux package in Gentoo Linux: New Bug description: RT3290 wifi chip is becoming common on consumer notebooks. Correct this by using a configurable size for the p2m list in case of memory hotplug enabled (default supported memory size is 512 GB for 64 bit domains and 4 GB for 32 bit domains). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1539158] Re: Unable to pair with in-car hands-free system after OTA-9 update
@Marco Woha, I actually asked the askubuntu referenced question. Talk about full circle. Anyway, I have gotten my system on rw mode, using "sudo mount -o remount,rw /". I did this to insert a new ringtone on my phone (which can now be done via the GUI without changing the image to rw mode). In order to revert back to read-only mode you have to do "sudo mount -o remount,ro /". I did not feel any side effects for inserting that extra ogg, and I don't think getting that extra log information will either. Just remember to put the image back to 'ro' mode after you are done with collecting the logs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1539158 Title: Unable to pair with in-car hands-free system after OTA-9 update Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After OTA-9 I started having trouble with my bluetooth connection to the car hands-free system (no sound, and incoming calls no longer displayed the number), so I have reset both the car and the phone connections (eg. forgot the devices). Now I can't even pair the phone with the car's system. The car finds the phone, and then asks me to enter the code "" to pair the device, but after a few moments, it just says the connection failed and asks me to try again. Which fails again. It was working fine just before the update. Any logs I should post to help debug? PS - The car is a 2015 Honda Civic Tourer, if that matters. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1542960] [NEW] Bluetooth is not connecting
Public bug reported: I just installed Ubuntu 15.10 on my new laptop, I bought the laptop 2 weeks ago and installed Ubuntu a week ago or so, on the WIndows 10 partition the bluetooth is working perfectly, no problems at all. In Ubuntu it was disable by default and I tried to pass some things to my phone via bluetooth and CAN'T enable, I have tried everything. Running RFKILL LIST, RFKILL UNBLOCK ALL, everything and still nothing!!! I also use a bluetooth mouse with the little usb adapter and it works, but if I want to transfer files or connect bluetooth speakers it doesn't. -When I search "Bluetooth" in the computer and click Bluetooth Manager it says: CONNECTION TO BLUEZ FAILED. -When I open System Settings and click Bluetooth, is disable (off) and I turn it to (on) and does nothing! is still saying Disable. I have no idea on how to fix this! I have another computer running Ubuntu 14.04 and the bluetooth has no issue at all. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1542650] Re: Ubuntu 15.10: WiFi disabled on Thinkpad X230
viv, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/Laptops-and- netbooks/ThinkPad-X-Series-Tablet- laptops/ThinkPad-X230-Tablet?linkTrack=GPS:Body_Search%20Products=false an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (2.63). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible: 1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an apport-collect): sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date 2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement or not. 3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.
