[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1609242] Re: Kernels 4.3-4.8 result in blackscreen - Intel Ivybridge
Could we give this a try again? The issue still exists even with the newest mainline kernels. I'm still stuck with Linux 4.2.9. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1609242 Title: Kernels 4.3-4.8 result in blackscreen - Intel Ivybridge Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Expired Status in linux source package in Xenial: Expired Bug description: When I install Ubuntu 16.04 on my computer the screen goes blank at login. I can blindly login and it boots but I cannot use the display (external monitor through HDMI). I've looked online for an answer to this issue but could not find a solution. However, many people report this issue in forums with the 4.4x kernel. On my main computer, I upgraded from 14.04 to 16.04.1. On this computer I was able to switch back to the 3.13 kernel which *does work*. On the same computer, if I use a 16.04 live CD, it does the same thing. The screen goes blank. UEFI may be part of the issue as well. I have it disabled in bios (set to legacy mode) but when I first boot, it seems to go into UEFI mode first and then, after rebooting with it shows me the list of kernels. I can select the kernel from there but if I use a 4.4x kernel, it blanks out at encryption passphrase screen. There are also people with similar issues on AskUbuntu. Here's some basic HW info. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1680904] Re: zesty unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference
There are two patches to address the issue, one for v4.11[1] which can be backported for 4.10 for zesty and current 4.11/master-next branch for artful. The other one has been landed in v4.12[2]. I assume the first patch[1] should be landed for zesty. I can not reproduce the issue on Lenovo Thinkpad X260 with the fix, anyone has the issue can download the prebuilt deb[3] for a test. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1653456] Re: ASUS G752VS: Touchpad and Fn keys not working (Ubuntu 16.04.1/16.10/17.04)
No change in kernel 4.12.3: Touchpad does not work on first boot, even after toggling it using Fn+F9 (which now gives visual feedback). Hello, after experimenting few days ago with Ubuntu 16.04.1, 16.10 and 17.04, among other problems I found that touchpad and Fn keys (all except volume control) doesn't work on my brand new ASUS G752VS. It is very hard even to try Ubuntu 16.10 and 17.04 because of the missing mouse pointer. This problem must be related to a video driver because if after installing one is capable to install Nvidia drivers - problem is solved. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1685190] Re: Intermittent wireless network problem with RTL8821AE and 802.11n/EWC
Same behaviour on my ASUS P2520LA: - RTL8821ae wireless stops working after few minutes, sometimes can be restored by "sudo service network-manager restart" or by running Wicd Network Manager. - I have tried a USB wireless dongle: Netgear WG111v2 and it also disconnects. - First months with 16.04TLS were OK. Then problem occurred and I tried upgrading to 16.10 and 17.04. - With current update (4.10.0-28 30-JUN-2017) Network Manager occasionally crashes when disconnections happen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1685190 Title: Intermittent wireless network problem with RTL8821AE and 802.11n/EWC Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: An intermittent but very repeatable problem has started occurring upon upgrading from Ubuntu 16.10 (kernel 4.8) to Kubuntu 17.04 (kernel 4.10). After about 10 to 30 minutes the wireless network will stop working. The network manager will still report that the network is "connected" but all network requests will timeout. This problem occurs only with the wireless network and not the wired ethernet connection. After walking through the kernel bug reporting instructions (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LinuxWireless) I found that turning off "802.11n/EWC" in my router solves the problem. I have logged this as a problem with the kernel since it appears to be specific to my hardware. Please correct me if this was an incorrect assumption. Hi FZ (sirfz), I'm Sorry if I'm boring you but the latest available kernel is 4.12.3 - can you please try with it what Kai-Heng Feng suggests? http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.12.3/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1653456 Title: ASUS G752VS: Touchpad and Fn keys not working (Ubuntu 16.04.1/16.10/17.04) Status in Linux: Unknown Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Non-Optimus laptop ASUS G752VS-GC063D-CST256. 17.3" FHD LED 1920x1080, Intel Core i7-6700HQ (3.50Ghz), 16GB DDR4, 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD + 1TB HDD 7200rpm, DVDRW-DL, Nvidia GTX1070 8GB GDDR5, Wifi 802.11ac+Bluetooth 4.1 (Dual band) 2*2, Gb LAN, HDMI, mDP, Intel WiDi, USB3.0 x4, USB3.1-Type C(Gen2) with Thunderbolt, HD webcam, Illuminated KB, no OS. This problem doesn't exist both while trying and installing Ubuntu 16.04.1! [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1694167] Re: unity does not start when booting with 4.11.3 kernel
I recently tried going up to 4.12. Unity did start but the firmware for the Intel wireless device did not load. So I'm running a recent 4.11 right now. Since I use the laptop for work I'm reluctant to install a RC. The 4.12 did mess up enough ☺️ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1694167 Title: unity does not start when booting with 4.11.3 kernel Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I installed the recent 4.11.3 kernel from the packages downloaded from kernel.ubuntu.org After rebooting unity did not start properly.
