[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1850627] Re: Right click happens automatically, disturbs work

2019-11-01 Thread Dilip
Ok, almost a day now. Started and shutdown the PC a few times, used for
a few hours each time. There was no " auto right-click issue " in
Cinnamon so far. Once or twice single left click because double click.
But that was all in last 24 hours +.

Right click happens automatically, disturbs work

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Since the last 3-4 days, the right click happens all by itself.
Sometimes replacing the left click, while working in Inkscape or
handling files on desktop for a fully updated 18.04. It is so annoying
and good enough to destroy the work we are doing. I manually cleaned
my mouse just in case hardware is causing the issue

I tried using Cinnamon DE. There was no such issue in it.

It would be great if there could be a fix. Thanks.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1826125] Re: Dell XPS 13 9380 flickering (Whiskey Lake)

2019-11-01 Thread VictorB
So with the kernel from: https://aaltoset.kapsi.fi/lp1826125 everything
seems to work fine. However I am still on 19.04

Linux victor-XPS-13-9380 5.3.0-19-generic #20+lp1826125 SMP Wed Oct 23
14:56:56 UTC 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I'll get back to you, once I upgrade to 19.10 and re-apply the patch.

Thank's for the good work!

Victor

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1850548] Re: Unable to install kdump tools: post install script returning fail

2019-11-01 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
Sorry, I missed the entirety of the message with the logs and didn't
notice that there was a kernel there, and that /var/lib/kdump-tools/ and
/var/crash/ seem to be writable.

As I said, I just pushed a test makedumpfile/kdump-tools to
ppa:cascardo/ppa that does not create the initrd during postinst.

Also, notice that kdump-tools.service needs to be enabled, but that it
will fail to load if crashkernel has not been reserved, that is, you
need crashkernel=. in the kernel command line. Can you verify what
is the value of /sys/kernel/kexec_crash_size ?

The only thing I guess would be a pending issue for this case is the
drivers that are included in the kdump initrd. As you said, it uses
MODULES=dep instead of MODULES=most to reduce the memory footprint for
the crashkernel. We could work on a solution there.

But can you at least install and load kdump-tools with this fixed
package, once you make sure you have a proper crashkernel on the command
line?

Thank you.
Cascardo.

Bug description:
In contrast to the Linux kernel for x86_64, the CONFIG_KVM option is disabled
for the "linux-raspi2" kernel (version 4.15.0-1016-raspi2 aarch64) on Ubuntu
18.04.
This prevents running QEMU with the -enable-kvm option to use hardware
virtualization capabilities of the CPU.

I have recompiled the kernel with CONFIG_KVM set and could successfully run
QEMU with -enable-kvm on my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ afterwards.
In my opinion, there is no reason for not activating CONFIG_KVM in the
official raspi2 kernel.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1846539]

2019-11-01 Thread david.ward
With those commits cherry-picked on top of the current sound subsystem
tree (aside from 65263bf16116 and 3f89e62cf14c, which both revert
changes that are not in that tree), it works. The option for SOF support
on Broadwell gets deselected automatically during the build, because the
legacy driver is selected.

One note about the help text added to Kconfig: see
https://github.com/thesofproject/linux/pull/1382#pullrequestreview-309637829

  [Impact]
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1848790
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi2/+bug/1848703
Recently we had 2 bugs about the usb host on rpi4 with 4G ram, and I found
the kernel in the github already had the fix for this issue, and besides this
fix, it also had 106 more patches than our eoan kernel, those patches were
merged during or after we prepared our eoan kernel, now let us pick those
  patches to our eoan too.

  [Fix]
For the usb host issue, it adds a fix by setting the usb dma bounce buffer
  under 1G.

  [Test Case]
some users and I alreaady tested the armhf and arm64 kernel on pi4 and pi3
boards, the usb host worked well and no other regressions introduced.

  [Regression Risk]
Low, these patches are from the github which is the pi official kernel
repository. And we already tested armhf and arm64 kernel on pi4/3 boards.

The rpi kernel of https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux.git has been
updated, for the branch of rpi-5.3.y (Eoan kernel base on this
branch), there are 107 new patches merged, we also need to merge those
  patches to Eoan kernel.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1846539]

2019-11-01 Thread pierre-louis.bossart
Can you try to cherry-pick what's on

https://github.com/thesofproject/linux/pull/1382

that should prevent SOF from being selected if you've already selected
the legacy drivers.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1846335] Re: [CML] New device id's for CMP-H

2019-11-01 Thread You-Sheng Yang
It seems for linux-oem 4.15, there will be error messages in regard to
i915. Since there are still some changes, e.g. bug 1848491, waiting to
be SRU-ed to 4.15 and it seems 4.15 backport is not so urgent right now,
I'll not try to include more fix for this task for linux-oem 4.15.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1850876] Re: CONFIG_DRM_V3D is disabled for linux-raspi2 of eoan

2019-11-01 Thread Hui Wang
** Description changed:

We enabled DRM_VC4 in the linux-raspi2 of eoan, but disabled the
  DRM_V3D.

In fact the DRM_V3D is crucial for graphical applications (such as
ubuntu-desktop :) as it removes the graphical overhead from the cpu to
the gpu, making the applications work much faster.

  Please refer to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-
  raspi2/+bug/1848703/comments/32
+
+
+ [Impact]
+ Users reported that we should enable the DRM_V3D, then the GPU will
+ be fully used when running "ubuntu-desktop"
+
+ [Fix]
+ Enable the DRM_V3D, the v3d.ko will be built
+
+ [Test Case]
+ Users already tested it, it worked well.
+
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-raspi2/+bug/1848703/comments/36
+
+ [Regression Risk]
+ Low, I already did building test for arm64 and armhf, all passed.
+ And uers already tested the kernel module, it worked as expected.

Did you check if TPM chip was enabled on BIOS option?
