[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1884100] Re: Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac fails in linux-firmware 1.187
@Diogo, 1. Ask @patola to login on your computer and run apport, or 2. Ask @patola to instruct you to file a new bug by your own and mark this issue INVALID. Consider we may need you to run more commands to collect more info and/or try something, taking 2) should be the most convenient. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1884100 Title: Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac fails in linux-firmware 1.187 Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: This bug is done for a friend. I do talk to him occasionally and he sends me data. As he's a newbie, he doesn't know how to create a proper bug report. Basically, his notebook has the Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac wireless network adapter (rev 32). He had Ubuntu 19.10 and it worked. He updated to 20.04 and it stopped working. He installed 20.04 from scratch and it did not work. 20.04's linux-firmware is 1.187. This version does not work for Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac. I asked him to download 19.10's linux-firmware package from the ubuntu repositories, which is at 1.183. After he installed, apt-marked hold the package so that it would not be upgrade, and rebooted, his wifi worked. I saw the other bug reports regarding this adapter but they are old, the newer one has expired and it seems to be related to the unsigned kernel. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1874567] Re: [nvidia] Rotating secondary monitor to portrait fails, results in landscape
Hello folks. I experience this issue with my three monitor setup (two of which are vertical) using NVIDIA Drivers 440.82 on PopOS 20.04. Monitor layout works with xrandr/arandr and if I hand craft manitors.xml, configuration is preserved. I have posted my details here https://github.com/pop-os/pop/issues/933#issuecomment-643681670 But GUI doesn't work. Also after recovering from suspend layout explodes again. I would be glad to help with investigation, collecting logs, traces, etc (feel free to DM me). ** Bug watch added: github.com/pop-os/pop/issues #933 https://github.com/pop-os/pop/issues/933 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-440 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1874567 Title: [nvidia] Rotating secondary monitor to portrait fails, results in landscape Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-435 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-440 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have two monitors, with the secondary one rotated in a portrait orientation. Using the nvidia 440 drivers, the orientation is not applied when configuring in gnome settings (the displays go blank for a second, and then reappear in landscape orientation). Using nvidia settings, I can set the monitor rotation and offset correctly, however these settings do not persist on next boot (even when selecting to save to xorg.conf). When using the nouveau drivers, the orientation is applied correctly in gnome settings, and is persisted. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1884001] Re: [Ice Lake] External 4k monitor periodically shows black screen
This is pretty similar to audio issue we've encountered before. Could you open sound setting and play test sound to see if this issue happens while playing sounds? BTW, could you also check if it lists the same audio output devices when the dock cable is plugged at left side and right side. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1884001 Title: [Ice Lake] External 4k monitor periodically shows black screen Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I have a 4k dell monitor attached to a Dell XPS13 (2020). The connection is: Computer -> Thunderbolt (USBC) Cable -> Caldigit Thunderbolt Hub -> Thunderbolt-to-Displayport Cable -> Monitor. Note: The Thunderbolt cable from the Caldigit hub is powered. I have a keyboard, mouse, monitor etc all attached to the thunderbolt hub. So there is just one cable connected to the laptop, which is nice. If I wake my laptop, everything's fine for a few minutes, then periodically the screen goes black for a second or two, then back to display. This happens with increasing frequency. If I log out and log back in, the problem is usually resolved. Sometimes I have to unplug and replug the hub from my laptop. I assume this is xorg-related because logging out and back in effectively restarts X. But X might not be the problem, it might be thunderbolt-related. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1848921] Re: iwlwifi firmware crashes intel 9260ac [8086:2526] subsystem [8086:0010]
Update: changing kernel to 5.4.8 fixes the issue for anyone here looking for a fix, but do so at your own risk. The latency is super high and the speeds are abysmal for me, so it's still a big problem, but it becomes usable at this point. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1848921 Title: iwlwifi firmware crashes intel 9260ac [8086:2526] subsystem [8086:0010] Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu 19.10 Kernel 5.3.0-18-generic Hardware: Thinkpad T460p (also tested on T480s) with Intel 9260ac wifi card. Expected: Wifi connects, uploads/downloads as normal Symptom: Wifi connects, as soon as an upload/download (any heavy traffic) start, the system comes to a crawl, becomes barely usable, and I end up opening a prompt to reboot. The system is unusable. This happens even with the Live USB version. The only solution I found was to download a different (newer) firmware. Latest version from: https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/drivers/iwlwifi This is iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-b0-34.618819.0.tgz I then manually copy the contained firmware to /lib/firmware, remove all other versions and make a link to iwlwifi-9260-th-b0-jf-46.ucode that the kernel expects to load. This completely resolves the issue. Or is there another kernel I should use? $ uname -a Linux 5.4.0-37-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 3 18:57:02 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ lsb_release -a Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description:Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Release:20.04 Codename: focal kernel: [ 559.983153] BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 02de kernel: [ 559.983162] #PF: supervisor read access in kernel mode kernel: [ 559.983165] #PF: error_code(0x) - not-present page kernel: [ 559.983168] PGD 0 P4D 0 kernel: [ 559.983176] Oops: [#1] SMP NOPTI kernel: [ 559.983182] CPU: 0 PID: 7 Comm: kworker/0:1 Not tainted 5.4.0-37-generic #41-Ubuntu kernel: [ 559.983185] Hardware name: LENOVO 20N80029GE/20N80029GE, BIOS R0YET43W (1.26 ) 03/30/2020 kernel: [ 559.983198] Workqueue: events ucsi_connector_change [typec_ucsi] kernel: [ 559.983211] RIP: 0010:typec_altmode_update_active+0x1f/0x100 [typec] kernel: [ 559.983216] Code: 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 00 0f 1f 00 0f 1f 44 00 00 55 48 89 e5 41 54 53 48 83 ec 10 65 48 8b 04 25 28 00 00 00 48 89 45 e8 31 c0 <0f> b6 87 dc 02 00 00 83 e0 01 40 38 f0 0f 84 95 00 00 00 48 8b 47 kernel: [ 559.983220] RSP: 0018:bde7400b7db8 EFLAGS: 00010246 kernel: [ 559.983224] RAX: RBX: 99ad0da16270 RCX: kernel: [ 559.983227] RDX: 99ad0c2d3628 RSI: RDI: 0002 kernel: [ 559.983231] RBP: bde7400b7dd8 R08: 0219 R09: 0042061e kernel: [ 559.983234] R10: 1168 R11: R12: kernel: [ 559.983237] R13: 99ad0da16010 R14: 99ad0da16000 R15: 99ad0da162c0 kernel: [ 559.983241] FS: () GS:99ad2120() knlGS: kernel: [ 559.983245] CS: 0010 DS: ES: CR0: 80050033 kernel: [ 559.983248] CR2: 02de CR3: 0004bd80a001 CR4: 003606f0 kernel: [ 559.983251] Call Trace: kernel: [ 559.983263] ucsi_altmode_update_active+0xab/0xf0 [typec_ucsi] kernel: [ 559.983271] ucsi_connector_change+0x1ae/0x340 [typec_ucsi] kernel: [ 559.983282] process_one_work+0x1eb/0x3b0 kernel: [ 559.983288] worker_thread+0x4d/0x400 kernel: [ 559.983295] kthread+0x104/0x140 kernel: [ 559.983301] ? process_one_work+0x3b0/0x3b0 kernel: [ 559.983305] ? kthread_park+0x90/0x90 kernel: [ 559.983314] ret_from_fork+0x1f/0x40 kernel: [ 559.983319] Modules linked in: typec_displayport uas usb_storage vmw_vsock_vmci_transport vsock vmw_vmci rfcomm cdc_ether usbnet snd_usb_audio snd_usbmidi_lib r8152 mii cmac algif_hash algif_skcipher af_alg bnep uvcvideo videobuf2_vmalloc videobuf2_memops videobuf2_v4l2 videobuf2_common btusb btrtl btbcm btintel bluetooth ecdh_generic ecc binfmt_misc nls_iso8859_1 mei_hdcp intel_rapl_msr snd_sof_pci snd_sof_intel_hda_common snd_soc_hdac_hda snd_sof_intel_hda snd_sof_intel_byt snd_sof_intel_ipc snd_sof snd_sof_xtensa_dsp x86_pkg_temp_thermal iwlmvm snd_hda_ext_core intel_powerclamp snd_soc_acpi_intel_match kvm_intel snd_soc_acpi mac80211 kvm snd_soc_core snd_hda_codec_hdmi snd_seq_midi snd_hda_codec_conexant libarc4 snd_hda_codec_generic snd_seq_midi_event snd_compress intel_cstate ac97_bus snd_pcm_dmaengine intel_rapl_perf snd_rawmidi joydev snd_hda_intel snd_intel_dspcfg input_leds snd_hda_codec serio_raw iwlwifi intel_wmi_thunderbolt snd_seq wmi_bmof snd_hda_core snd_hwdep thinkpad_acpi kernel: [ 559.983383] cfg80211 snd_pcm nvram ledtrig_audio snd_seq_device snd_timer processor_thermal_device mei_me ucsi_acpi intel_rapl_common typec_ucsi mei intel_soc_dts_iosf intel_pch_thermal typec snd soundcore int3403_thermal int340x_thermal_zone int3400_thermal acpi_thermal_rel mac_hid acpi_pad nf_log_ipv6 ip6t_REJECT nf_reject_ipv6 xt_hl ip6t_rt nf_log_ipv4 nf_log_common ipt_REJECT nf_reject_ipv4 xt_LOG xt_limit xt_addrtype xt_tcpudp sch_fq_codel xt_conntrack nf_conntrack nf_defrag_ipv6 nf_defrag_ipv4 libcrc32c videodev mc coretemp ip6table_filter parport_pc ip6_tables iptable_filter ppdev bpfilter lp parport ip_tables x_tables autofs4 dm_crypt hid_plantronics hid_generic usbhid hid mmc_block crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul ghash_clmulni_intel aesni_intel crypto_simd amdgpu i915 amd_iommu_v2 cryptd gpu_sched glue_helper ttm psmouse i2c_algo_bit nvme drm_kms_helper nvme_core i2c_i801 r8169 syscopyarea sysfillrect realtek sysimgblt sdhci_pci fb_sys_fops cqhci drm sdhci wmi video kernel: [ 559.983454] pinctrl_cannonlake pinctrl_intel kernel: [ 559.983462] CR2: 02de kernel: [ 559.983468] ---[ end trace 2246881156bc6574 ]--- kernel: [ 559.983477] RIP: 0010:typec_altmode_update_active+0x1f/0x100 [typec] kernel: [ 559.983482] Code: 0f 1f 84 00 00 00 00 00 0f 1f 00 0f 1f 44 00 00 55 48 89 e5 41 54 53 48 83 ec 10 65 48 8b 04 25 28 00 00 00 48 89 45 e
[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1882419] Re: syslog flooded with "wlan0: Failed check-sdata-in-driver check, flags: 0x4"
Same problem on Sony VGN-CR41ZR/Ubuntu 18.04 (4.15.0-106-generic) with builtin intel wifi card and additional wifi usb card (maybe this important) Machine was not suspended, just after some time rest in working (day or couple) with no touching any settings of wifi connection it just hang and flood syslog/kern logs until "no space left on device" and hang. Seems helping (currently in testing) disable intel wifi off and use only external usb wifi card. Can provide some additional info if needed. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1880666] Re: Power management: does not suspend
No, I would not waste my time on that. ** Also affects: xfce4-screensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - Power management: does not suspend + Suspend does work only after half minute delay. ** Description changed: I am using Xubuntu 20.04. xfce4-session-logout --suspend - exits with 0, but does not suspend. Same thing, if I choose suspend from menu (but it may lock screen depending on settings). - - Reproduceable: sometimes + exits with 0, but suspends only after long delay. This happens only if I have xfce4-screensaver running, even if it is set not to lock screen on suspend. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1878194] Re: [Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC] Bluetooth headset not working when selecting HSP/HFP audio profile in Focal Fossa
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1871794 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871794 And I just did a test on that Lenovo laptop. Disable the on-board bluetooth host controller via BIOS, and plug in a usb bluetooth dongle (CSR8510 A10 0a12:0001), now the hci0 is the external usb bt dongle. And all 4 headsets could work well in hsp/hfp mode now, both playback and recording work well. And through hciconfig, I could see the sco packets number is not zero anymore. So for my case, it is kernel driver or firmware issue instead of pulseaudio issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878194 Title: [Sennheiser HD 4.50 BTNC] Bluetooth headset not working when selecting HSP/HFP audio profile in Focal Fossa Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After updating the release from Ubuntu 19.10 to 20.04, the bluetooth headset doesn't work anymore when HSP/HFP profile is selected. With Ubuntu 19.10 the headset was working, there was audio and the mic was perfect for video conferencing. [Steps to reproduce] 1. Connect headset (used blueman to setup and connect) 1.1. When connected the system automatically selects A2DP profile 2. Start playing audio (browser or other) 3. Change profile to HSP/HFP with pavucontrol (or blueman) 4. The audio disappears and microphone is not working (no input) 5. Optionally switch back to A2DP and the audio comes back [Expected] When switching to HSP/HFP the audio should keep playing and the microphone should start working [Notes] I tried with pavucontrol to switch between profiles while playing audio from a browser. As side note there's a led in the headset that still blinks when switching profile. I tried deleting the pulse folder under user's profile .config without success, also reinstalled packages and did a `sudo alsa force-reload` and rebooting several times. Note: not sure this is a duplicate of [Bug #1576559], it looks quite different since the profile changes but the headset stops working.
