Touchpad not detected in 'Lenovo V15-IIL model 82C5' after installing
  Ubuntu 20.04

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Ubuntu 20.04 is installed in a brand new Lenovo V15-IIL alongside
Windows 10. According to lenovo's support page, the driver for windows
is Synaptics 19.5.10.149_Elan 22.4.18.1. In windows the touchpad works
  fine.

This model has two options in BIOS regarding Fn Keys, a "Smart Fn key"
that toogles the Fn key on/off each time you press it and a "Foolproof
Fn Key" that maps the Fn key to Ctrl when you press a combinations of
keys that does not have a Fn assigned. When I enable the "foolproof fn
key" in the BIOS, the Fn + F1...F12 and the sound driver stop working
(i dont have sound, i can't change the volume and the volume icon in
the GUI does not show). Fn+F6 (to enable/disable touchpad) can't
  enable it.

Title:
ch341 USB-Serial converter only receives, does not send

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
This device works flawlessly on Windows XP with native driver, both as
a physical machine or inside a VM. It appears on XP's device
  management as "USB 2.0" name.

On Ubuntu, Shorting pins 2 and 3 of DB9 connector does not give back
characters sent (no echo), nor typed strings are sent to other RS232
devices, despite of communication settings. Characters from remote
devices are correctly received. Using a null modem cable to other
RS232 terminal shows that the local terminal receives, but does not
  transmit.

Its worth to mention: passing through the device to a guest virtual
machine (KVM) running Windows XP makes it work correctly with XP
driver inside the guest OS. Bringing back the device stops
  transmitting. Only receive works.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1919049] Re: Can not enable laptop screen

2021-03-13 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it
will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1919049

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing
future users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

I'm marking this bug incomplete, as it appears to me you need support
more than have a bug (there is insufficient data currently anyway due to
the method used to file).

If you do believe it is a bug, please change the status back to "New"
after you've completed the requested `apport-collect`

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1810183] Re: numpad on touchpad doesn't work in ASUS Zenbook 14

2021-03-13 Thread Julian Oertel
Hello,

I've had success in probing the device with the aforementioned tool
(https://github.com/bentiss/SimplePeripheralBusProbe). Sadly I'm not sure how
to analyze the data. Hopefully someone else is able to make something out of it.
I recorded the command which enables the numpad and the command to disable it.
However, there are some more interactions which seem to happen regularly.
If anything else is needed I will be happy to try to provide the data.
