[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1816394] Re: Ubuntu 19.04/19.10 qa:test - suspended system resumed without audio (fixed with pavucontrol toggle)
this issue is not limited to Ubuntu.. I've been suspending debian-bullseye (11) on - dell [optiplex] 780 (c2q-q9400, 8gb, amd/ati cedar radeon hd 5000/6000/7350/8350) lately and when I resume I have this issue. The d780 box has numerous lubuntu installs (used for QA & support) but I don't suspend any of them. Of note it's been a long time since I've had this issue with my primary d960 box (it's on impish now as on development cycle). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1816394 Title: Ubuntu 19.04/19.10 qa:test - suspended system resumed without audio (fixed with pavucontrol toggle) Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu 19.04 & 19.10 QA-testing This has occurred on on 4 similar boxes; dell optiplex 755 (x2), 780 & 960 (using GNOME (ubuntu 19.04), XFCE (ubuntu-studio 19.04), LXQt (lubuntu 19.04 & 19.10) & Ubuntu-MATE (19.10)) Last occurrence was d780 where a new bug was added; bug 1829494 to ensure diagnostic info was added For additional info please look at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1829494 - Original report follows Ubuntu 19.04 QA-Test (LIVE x86_64) Dell optiplex d755, (c2d-e8300, 8gb, Radeon HD 2400 PRO/XT) Two dell displays, left is landscape, right is portrait This live test had two packages added: `vim` & `ubuntu-restricted- extras` Background: I added ubuntu-restricted-extras so I could run requested test on this system which had me streaming videos from utube - it was required to get around H264 errors (vim because I can't cope with other editors & added `multiverse` to my sources. Issue: With firefox streaming ABC News 24 (local AU news) I suspended machine. Waited Awoke machine - everything resumed as expected .. Some circling was apparent on firefox before picture resumed, however no sound. I was unable to fix it using any tools installed - to fix I `sudo apt install pavucontrol`, went to Configuration (or last tab) and Profile=Off on the drop-down menu, then returned to Profile=AnalogStereo Duplex. This is something I do on occasion for this machine on installed system or other machines I use. This is really a minor issue, & may not be an issue on an installed system (though I come across it semi-regularly & just live with it). In regular use I pause/stop sound & know this makes this almost a non- issue (almost never happens when sound isn't playing). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1935785] [NEW] Failed resume: radeon
Public bug reported: My laptop used to be able to suspend and resume fine, on 20.04 and earlier. I recently upgraded to 20.10, and noticed that it was failing to resume, but I didn't look into it much because I also noticed that I could upgrade to 21.04. Same issue. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1921643] Re: Thunderbolt docking station drops USB
Just to keep this alive, I'm running 5.13.1 and so far it seems to be working. I only used it for ~8 hours and so far I have not seen any Transfer event errors, nor any USB reset (I see a lot of other new errors, it even failed to boot with 5.13.1 at first, but those are irrelevant regarding this issue). I don't know if its going to be stable on the long term or not, as even with the 5.8 kernel it sometimes managed to work for 3+ days non stop without any issues (but most of the time crashed after 5-30 minutes). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1921643 Title: Thunderbolt docking station drops USB Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: My Lenovo Thunderbolt Dock Gen2 randomly drops the USB controller, resulting in no USB at all. It sometimes happens after a few seconds of being plugged in to the notebook, but sometimes it works for hours. The display connected to the dock stays active and working. I tried to blacklist the driver (r8152) for the usb3-ethernet controller, as suggested in a few forums, but it does not solve the issue. dmesg is full of the following messages: [ 1001.028336] xhci_hcd :08:00.0: WARN Event TRB for slot 11 ep 1 with no TDs queued? [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1929209] Re: external monitor goes black for several seconds at a time, randomly
You mentioned "intermediate adapters". I'm using a Lenovo Ultradock between my laptop and the monitor. This causes no trouble on my Acer B326HK, which is just as high-res, but the new Samsung monitor continues to do the blackout thing. It's not strictly reproducible so far (fullscreening does not always cause any problem, and is not required to cause the problem). Happily, I have two ultradocks. It happens with both! And the brand new HDMI cable looks fine. I cannot try without the ultradock because my laptop does not have an HDMI port. No one else has reported this problem, though if it's a hardware fault with the monitor (my interpretation) then it might be rare. I have recently upgraded to 21.04 and Wayland. I am wondering: Should I buy an adapter from HDMI to VGA, if such a thing exist? You would be generous to give this any more attention. I have very seldomly had issues where mouse and keyboard stopped working. Perhaps three to five times over the last seven months at daily full- time use. In some instances they started working again after un- and replugging the devices, or just waiting for a few minutes. However, I cannot say whether this is related to the dock or some other issue. Similarly, I have only very rarely had the machine freeze and cannot say whether this was related to the dock or not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1908139 Title: ThinkPad T14s external display not working on ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen2 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: laptop: ThinkPad T14s Gen 1 - AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U docking station: ThinkPad USB-C Dock 2. Gen. external display: NE MultiSync EA275UHD OS: Ubuntu 20.10 - kernel 5.8.0 Plugging the external display into one of the docking station's two DisplayPort connectors leads to the screen resolution changing on the laptop's builtin display and the external display waking up but showing no picture and displaying "no-signal" after a bit. Plugging the external display into the docking station's HDMI connector leads to no visible reaction on either the external nor the builtin display. Plugging the external display into the laptop's builtin HDMI connector works as expected. The external display is recognized and shows an image. I have recorded the output on `dmesg` during the steps mentioned above and inserted explanations using `echo MSG >/dev/kmsg`. The output follows at the end of the message. I believe `ubuntu-bug` should also attach the full log. All above modes of connection work as expected with the same laptop, dock, and display on Windows 10 (installed as dual boot along side Ubuntu). All above modes of connection also work as expected with an older laptop (ThinkPad T470s - Ubuntu 20.04 - kernel 5.4.0), and the same dock and display. This leads me to believe that this is not a hardware issue. The following bug seems related, but seems to have been observed on faulty hardware according to its author. Therefore, I decided to open a separate bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1899336 ``` [ 343.372511] plugging DisplayPort into dock port 1 [ 352.666113] [drm] DP Alt mode state on HPD: 1 [ 352.749192] [drm] DM_MST: starting TM on aconnector: 2105a317 [id: 75] [ 352.858482] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 352.888400] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 352.892555] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 352.896719] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 352.900876] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 352.905596] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 352.910323] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 352.914485] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 377.353566] plugged in - no signal [ 396.728970] unplugging [ 403.001418] [drm] DM_MST: stopping TM on aconnector: 2105a317 [id: 75] [ 415.576397] unplugged [ 431.500729] plugging DisplayPort into dock port 2 [ 437.607724] [drm] DP Alt mode state on HPD: 1 [ 437.681116] [drm] DM_MST: starting TM on aconnector: 2105a317 [id: 75] [ 437.790303] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 437.820138] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 437.824305] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 437.828462] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 437.832619] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 437.837029] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 437.841984] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 437.846144] [drm] amdgpu_dm_irq_schedule_work FAILED src 9 [ 458.999849] plugged in - no signal [ 465.702949] unplugging [ 476.127418] [drm] DM_MST: stopping TM on aconnector: 2105a317 [id: 75] [ 476.956491] [drm] Failed to add display topology, DTM TA is not initialized.
