[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1955613] Re: Add basic Wifi support for Qualcomm WCN6856
I've recently bought the new [2022 Razer Blade 14'' with 3070 Ti](https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5924/~/at-a- glance%3A-razer-blade-14-%282022%29-%7C-rz09-0427x). Unfortunately after installing Ubuntu 22.04 Desktop I've quickly come to realize that neither WiFi nor BT are working. When the guest enters keyed mode, then KVM will save/restore the key during paging, provide change/reference tracking for guest and host and for all interpreted instructions will do key protection. If an instruction is intercepted and passed along to userspace (like QEMU) no storage key protection is checked, though. This is in violation of the architecture and it can result in misbehaving guests that rely on key protection for all instructions. This item will improve the MEMOP ioctl to also add key checking. In case of a key protection the right fault is injected in the guest. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1976147] [NEW] [Kernel 5.15] System messages (kernel and systemd) are not shown during boot until it reach a late stage

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1973167] Re: linux-image-4.15.0-177-generic freezes on the welcome screen
Hi! After all, I am lucky: my Dell Latitude 5480 succeeds sometimes to start XUbuntu 18.04.6 LTS normally, but often freezes on boot because "A start job is running for ..." (several messages of this type), both with linux-image-4.15.0-177-generic and linux-image-4.15.0-180-generic, while everything goes fine with linux-image-4.15.0-166-generic (which I installed back). I will give a try with 176. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973167 Title: linux-image-4.15.0-177-generic freezes on the welcome screen Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux source package in Bionic: Confirmed Bug description: After updating to linux-image-4.15.0-177-generic, my machine completely freezes on the Ubuntu Welcome screen, i.e. right after switching to GUI mode. The mouse pointer is frozen, the keyboard does not even respond to CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK, pressing CTRL+ALT+F2 shows no reaction. I cannot work with my machine at this point and have to hard reset it. Selecting advanced boot options in grub and selecting the previous linux kernel 4.15.0-176 makes it work again. So this bad bug was introduced with the 4.15.0-177 kernel release. I tried removing the nvidia-driver-510 package, presumably making Ubuntu use the "nouveau" driver, and with that, I could use the welcome screen and log in, but the machine still froze shortly afterwards. So maybe this is some sort of interference with my GeForce 1080 graphics card, but it is not specific to the driver used. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1970586] Re: No sound support on Linux AWS/Azure kernels (but supported on GCP)
** Tags removed: verification-needed-jammy ** Tags added: verification-done-jammy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-azure in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1970586 Title: No sound support on Linux AWS/Azure kernels (but supported on GCP) Status in linux-aws package in Ubuntu: New Status in linux-azure package in Ubuntu: New Status in linux-aws source package in Jammy: Fix Committed Status in linux-azure source package in Jammy: In Progress Bug description: In GCP images it is possible to create virtual MIDI devices and generally do stuff like audio routing, etc. At CircleCI, where we run many of our VMs on Ubuntu in GCP, several of our customers use this functionality to test audio equipment in their CI runs. Unfortunately they cannot run their tests on our AWS based VMs, as there is no sound support compiled into the kernel on the AWS kernel and images. See the package listings for the other kernels for, e.g. the loopback driver: ``` linux-modules-extra-5.4.0-99-generic: /lib/modules/5.4.0-99-generic/kernel/sound/drivers/snd-aloop.ko linux-modules-extra-5.8.0-1031-oracle: /lib/modules/5.8.0-1031-oracle/kernel/sound/drivers/snd-aloop.ko linux-modules-extra-5.8.0-1032-gcp: /lib/modules/5.8.0-1032-gcp/kernel/sound/drivers/snd-aloop.ko ``` We would love to be able to install the sound drivers (especially snd- aloop) with the linux-modules-extra-aws package, but currently cannot, and obviously do not want to start running our own kernels, as then we lose the immediacy of kernel patches provided upstream by Canonical. You can see the difference in the GCP: https://git.launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux-gcp/+git/jammy/tree/debian.gcp/config/config.common.ubuntu#n6884 and AWS kernel: https://git.launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux-aws/+git/jammy/tree/debian.aws/config/config.common.ubuntu again there. The reasoning for the removal appears to be in this commit from 2016: https://git.launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel/ubuntu/+source/linux-aws/+git/jammy/commit/debian.aws/config/config.common.ubuntu?id=b5e310c4cc872c3fc7c7dd09ce67efb11eeaf07c To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-aws/+bug/1970586/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
