[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1973678] Re: CIFS crash mounting DFS share in 22.04
I have the same problem in Windows Subsystem for Linux, Ubuntu 20.04 I have a CIFS share containing 24 DFS folders. Opening any subfolder in the share causes an instant kernel panic. I do not have this problem on embedded hardware reading from the same share running the xilinx 4.6.0 kernel and 16.04LTS derivative (Petalinux 2016). 'Virtual Machine' has encountered a fatal error. The guest operating system reported that it failed with the following error codes: ErrorCode0: 0x0, ErrorCode1: 0x0, ErrorCode2: 0x0, ErrorCode3: 0x0, ErrorCode4: 0x0. If the problem persists, contact Product Support for the guest operating system. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1973167] Re: linux-image-4.15.0-177-generic freezes on the welcome screen
Same problem here with ASUS VivoBook X510U -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1973167 Title: linux-image-4.15.0-177-generic freezes on the welcome screen Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux source package in Bionic: Confirmed Bug description: After updating to linux-image-4.15.0-177-generic, my machine completely freezes on the Ubuntu Welcome screen, i.e. right after switching to GUI mode. The mouse pointer is frozen, the keyboard does not even respond to CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK, pressing CTRL+ALT+F2 shows no reaction. I cannot work with my machine at this point and have to hard reset it. Selecting advanced boot options in grub and selecting the previous linux kernel 4.15.0-176 makes it work again. So this bad bug was introduced with the 4.15.0-177 kernel release. I tried removing the nvidia-driver-510 package, presumably making Ubuntu use the "nouveau" driver, and with that, I could use the welcome screen and log in, but the machine still froze shortly afterwards. So maybe this is some sort of interference with my GeForce 1080 graphics card, but it is not specific to the driver used. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1971437] Re: linux-image-5.15.0-27-generic causes Thinkpad T460p to not resume after suspend
I needed to disable my USB bluetooth mouse to wake-up my Lenovo Thinkpad T460p with mainline kernel 5.14.16, but if I redo "# echo XHCI > /proc/acpi/wakeup" with the kernel 5.15.0-27-generic and it prints this : XHCI S3 *enabled pci::00:14.0 even the USB bluetooth mouse won't be able to wake-up the laptop. I have the exact same issue with newer kernel 5.15.0-33-generic from the current linux-image-generic package. But the problem is solved using mainline kernel 5.18.0! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1971437 Title: linux-image-5.15.0-27-generic causes Thinkpad T460p to not resume after suspend Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: After upgrading from Ubuntu 21.10 to Ubuntu 22.04, my Lenovo Thinkpad T460p doesn't wake-up after suspend. The kernel installed was linux- image-5.15.0-27-generic. I downgraded to Linux kernel 5.13.15 and it works fine now. With Ubuntu 21.10, I had linux-image-5.13.15-40-generic kernel and it worked fine, but I've uninstalled it after the upgrade to 22.04. I also tested newer versions like 5.16.x and 5.17.x with the mainline program and they cause the same issue. The issue is that no key nor the power button nor the screen lid wake the laptop with kernel versions superior to Linux 5.13 (5.13.15 I think). It's either a Linux kernel problem, or a compile options mistake. $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. The issue is that no key nor the power button nor the screen lid wake the laptop with kernel versions superior to Linux 5.13 (5.13.15 I think). It's either a Linux kernel problem, or a compile options mistake. $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1958770] Re: Aquantia GbE LAN driver causes UBSAN error during kernel boot
I followed instructions under the wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed) using the "Developer Options" to enable pre-released updates (jammy-proposed); I then also followed section "Selective upgrading from -proposed" to set a pin- priority of 400. I then installed proposed kernel as follows: sudo apt-get install linux-generic/jammy-proposed linux-headers- generic/jammy-proposed However, inspection of dmesg shows the proposed/installed kernel is 5.15.0-35-generic (not the version from the above Ubuntu kernel bot, i.e. linux-oem-5.17/5.17.0-1006.6 or linux-oem-5.14/5.14.0-1040.44). Also, the UBSAN issue still persists. Do I need to do something else? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-oem-5.17 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1958770 Title: Aquantia GbE LAN driver causes UBSAN error during kernel boot Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux-oem-5.17 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The undefined behaviour sanitiser picks up an array-index-out-of- bounds in the aquantia atlantic driver. The NIC is (I think) built into my gigabyte motherboard (https://www.gigabyte.com/uk/Motherboard/X399-AORUS-XTREME- rev-10/sp#sp). This wasn't an issue before I upgrading from 20.04 to 22.04 (or at least dmesg didn't previously complain).
