[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1982627] Re: MT7612u wireless chipset not working on Raspberry Pi 400
Incredible, thank you for the fast response, Dave! Installing the linux- modules-extra-raspi package did indeed allow me to modprobe usbmon, and the Wireless AP to be recognized by `iw list`. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1982627 Title: MT7612u wireless chipset not working on Raspberry Pi 400 Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in linux-raspi package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I purchased the Alfa AWUS036ACM wireless adapter to use with my Raspberry Pi 400. The adapter works when using Raspberry Pi OS, but not when using "Ubuntu for Raspberry Pi" release 22.04. I have tested 64-bit variants for Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Server, and the results are the same. I followed the Kernel Firmware Debugging steps, and included its output below. The LinuxWireless Debugging steps seem to only be appropriate if the wireless adapter is working to some capacity so the below output does not include those steps. I also attempted to follow the Kernel USB Debugging steps, but the commands do not seem appropriate for the Raspberry Pi 400. For example, `/proc/bus/usb` and `/sys/kernel/debug/usb/usbmon/` do not exist on the filesystem. As part of troubleshooting, I updated the bootloader for the Raspberry Pi 400 to version 507b2360 which was built on 2022-04-26. I also ran `sudo apt update` and `sudo apt full-upgrade`. Neither of these troubleshooting steps resolved the problem. On a separate note, I have another Ubuntu Server release 22.04 that is installed on dedicated hardware (not the "Ubuntu for Raspberry Pi" variant), and the wireless adapter does work on this machine. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1955383] Re: Support Intel IPU6 MIPI camera on Alder Lake platforms
I just got a new XPS 13 plus 9320 and it came with Windows 11. I replaced it with Ubuntu 22.04, but the Webcam wasn't working so I replaced that with Ubuntu 20.04, but the webcam still doesn't seem to be working. I tried: $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:oem-solutions-group/intel-ipu6 $ sudo apt install libcamhal-ipu6ep0 And now Firefox can detect it but https://webcamtests.com/ and Cheese just show a black screen. I'm pretty sure the hardware is fine since I tested it when it still had Windows 11 and it was running fine. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1850439] Re: No sound on ASUS UX534FT
Thank you Sergey, I really appreciate the help and I will create a separate issue. In regards to sniffing the verbs with QEMU, I finally managed to install Win 11 and launch it with QEMU (after using virt-manager to help with TPM issues). The problem is that even if I install asus driver on the emulated win 11 machine, the soundcard is not found (the speaker icon in windows shows an X). I am trying to trouble shoot it, while making sure that I pass through the IOMMU group in the correct way. Where would I find support for those specific issues? I have been following this guide: https://github.com/ryanprescott/realtek-verb-tools/wiki/How-to-sniff-verbs-from-a-Windows-sound-driver But that repo seems abandoned. Thank you again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1850439 Title: No sound on ASUS UX534FT Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Hi, after instal Ubuntu in dual boot alongside Windows 10, I've realised there is no sound coming out of mine new ASUS Zenbook 15 UX534FT- AA024R in Ubuntu. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1982621] Re: Spinner vanishes from screen during 22.04 boot from USB
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1982621 Title: Spinner vanishes from screen during 22.04 boot from USB Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I burnt Ubuntu 22.04 to USB and used it to boot a stock Dell XPS 15 laptop. It started the boot OK, showed the splash screen with the spinner rotating. After about two minutes the spinner disappears for 55 secs, then reappears, and the disappears again. The system continues to boot successfully from USB. The problem is that it is VERY unnerving for a new or potential user when the only sign of life vanishes without trace or warning. I have watched new users get up and walk away permanently from systems that do this because to then it means it has hung, and won't be coming back. Is it possible to nice(1) the background processes to the point where they do not usurp all cycles from the spinner? A blind process (like a splash screen) should NEVER stop communicating to the users that it is still alive and kicking. --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu82 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: ubuntu 5442 F pulseaudio CRDA: N/A CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CasperVersion: 1.470 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME DistroRelease: Ubuntu 22.04 LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 22.04 LTS "Jammy Jellyfish" - Release amd64 (20220419) Lsusb: Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0cf3:e300 Qualcomm Atheros Communications QCA61x4 Bluetooth 4.0 Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0c45:6713 Microdia Integrated_Webcam_HD Bus 001 Device 002: ID 18a5:0302 Verbatim, Ltd Flash Drive Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub MachineType: Dell Inc. It started the boot OK, showed the splash screen with the spinner rotating. After about two minutes the spinner disappears for 55 secs, then reappears, and the disappears again. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1982479] Re: Latest kernel breaks LCD screen
OK, I got further. The distortion depends on the presence of the linux-modules-extra-5.15.0-*-generic package. I first did omit these extra modules and found a completely different behaviour without. With linux-modules-extra-5.15.0-*-generic: Kernels up to including 5.15.0-39-generic are fine. The bug came in with 5.15.0-40-generic Without linux-modules-extra-5.15.0-*-generic: System can't active ethernet and sddm hangs for unknown reasons when booting normally. But when booting into maintenance mode in grub, and just activating the "networking" (although it can't activate ethernet without the module), the system then comes up into a stable and normal X11 session, just the mouse pad not working (missing module) even with the 5.15.0-40-generic kernel! So it must be - something that came in with the -40 version - probably something that is in the linux-modules-extra package and not the linux-image or the linux-modules package. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1982479 Title: Latest kernel breaks LCD screen Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Hi, I just installed Lubuntu 22.04 on a brandnew notebook, and everything was working well until rebooting after update: Both the boot splash and the X11 screens are jumping and appear instable afer a few seconds, as out of sync and running through. It absolutely looks like a hardware problem like a broken LCD connector cable, but it isn't: booting fresh from the Lubuntu usb stick and evernything works. I have a second machine, exactly same model and installation procedure, which was working well for some weeks and had exactly the same problem after upgrading. disabling the boot splash did not help. But booting into the older vmlinuz-5.15.0-25-generic , that came with the Lubuntu installation iso file, instead of the latest vmlinuz-5.15.0-41-generic solved the problem. With the older kernel, everything is stable and fine. So between the 25 and the 41 revision of the kernel there came something in which reliably breaks the screen configuration on both my two notebooks of identical hardware. Both the X11 login screen and the desktop do work normally for about five seconds and then start running through like one of these old days analog screens when out of sync or a cable not plugged in correctly. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1982627] Re: MT7612u wireless chipset not working on Raspberry Pi 400
Looks like this is one of the ones moved to the modules-extra package (this split is kernel specific, and wasn't done on the PC kernel which probably explains why this adapter works on your PC installation of Ubuntu Server). If you do the following: $ sudo apt install linux-modules-extra-raspi You should then be able to modprobe usbmon. I'll move the bug over to linux-raspi as it's technically a kernel issue. ** Also affects: linux-raspi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: linux-firmware (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1982627 Title: MT7612u wireless chipset not working on Raspberry Pi 400 Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in linux-raspi package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I purchased the Alfa AWUS036ACM wireless adapter to use with my Raspberry Pi 400. I'm still looking for a method to test different build versions of kernels. Example: https://code.launchpad.net/~bladernr/ubuntu/+source/linux/+git/focal/+ref/1917471 The hardware partner has preemptively pulled our 5.4 tree, applied the fix and tested it in their labs and determined that this does resolve the issue. [TEST CASE] Install the patched kernel on a machine that uses a BCM5720 LOM and reboot the machine and see that the errors no longer appear. To manage notifications about this bug go to:
