[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1895762] Re: PH-B-500 Headphone makes bluetooth loop
[Expired for bluez (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: bluez (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1895762 Title: PH-B-500 Headphone makes bluetooth loop Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Hi there, I am using Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS(Brazilian Portuguese, so, sorry if I translated wrong some label) in a Dell Inspiron 15 series 3000 and I am having some Bluetooth problems. I always suffer to synchronize my Cadenza PH-B Bluetooth Headphone. It Shows as PH-B-500 at the bluetooth devices list What happens is: 1. I turn on the headphone 2. I go to Settings → Bluetooth 3. The Notebook entire bluetooth enters a shutdown reinitialize loop 4. It only stops when I turn off the headphone But if I: 1. Keep the headphone off 2. go to Settings → Bluetooth 3. Click on the PH-B-500 on the list 4. Turn the headphone on and at the same time click on Conection at the PH-B-500 Bluetooth window it usually starts working fine. The headphone works perfectly on my Android cell phone so I don’t believe it is broken. The ethernet will disconnect unless it's changed to 100Mb/s. [Test Case] Download some big files from the web. User confirms the patch fixes the issue. [Regression Potential] This patch only effects ASMEDIA's ASM1042A. The regression potential is low, also limited to the specific device. --- My system contains a Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8153 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter which is on usb3 bus in my docking station (Dell TB16) which is attached to my laptop (Dell XPS9550) via Thunderbolt 3. I get usb related kernel error messages when I initiate a high speed transfer (by issuing wget http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily- live/current/zesty-desktop-amd64.iso) and the download fails. This does not happened when the Ethernet adapter is connected to a 100Mb/s switch, but only when connected to 1000Mb/s. It also does not happened with slow traffic (e.g. web page browsing). This is not a new bug with kernel 4.10, but has been going on since at least 4.7 and maybe (probably?) since forever. I'm aware of several others with this configuration (RTL8153 on usb3 behind thunderbolt 3) that have the same issue. This bug is also not specific to Ubuntu; I also get it on Arch Linux. I've also tested and seen this bug with several different models of thunderbolt 3 docks. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1971622] [NEW] Unfinished Kernel Installation while upgrading leaves broken kernel
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I upgraded my system from KUbuntu 21.10 to KUbuntu 22.04 via Gnome Software Updater today. I did not have enough free space on my mounted drive that holds the installed kernels, so the kernel installation exited with an error but the overall installation completed successfully. A final reboot left me with my laptop not booting anymore; I had to select another installed kernel via grub before I could boot successfully again. After I had removed some unused kernels I reinstalled the latest which worked this time. There are 3 problems here (to my mind) and what I would have expected: 1) The error message did not say much to me at all, although this is quite a problematic situation. I did not know what to do from the message, despite being a software developer and not shy to read console output (it said I might find myself with a broken system, but yes, what now? How to "unbreak" it, if at all...). 2) If I do not have enough space to install a kernel, the update process should not update my grub as if it had worked fine and, consequently, try to load the broken kernel at all. It should either remove the unfinished installation automatically or leave it like this but restore to the last "working" one. 3) I am not shy on researching issues on the internet and "knew" that I could boot using different kernels. Compared to more naive users (who really only want to use the system), this is a dead end, although it does not have to be that way, because the "working" kernels are there and, being bold, the system should manage this. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment dist-upgrade -- Unfinished Kernel Installation while upgrading leaves broken kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1971622 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1914881] Re: No sound from internal speakers HP Spectre x360 Convertible 14-ea0xxx, Realtek ALC245,
Just a note to say another model is impacted - Spectre 360 14-ea1000, which also has ALC245. As with others, booting first into Win10 then Linux fixes audio. Running 5.19.0 kernel. I'm something of a Linux newbie (avoiding Win11) and tried compiling a kernel with the patches here, but it was beyond my abilities unfortunately. Anyway, just a note to say there are further models impacted - this is a 6mo machine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1914881 Title: No sound from internal speakers HP Spectre x360 Convertible 14-ea0xxx, Realtek ALC245, Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: There is no sound output from the laptop internal speakers when running Ubuntu 20.10.
