Title:
  Keyboard and Touchpad Not Working in New Lenovo V15 Gen4 Laptop

Status in linux-signed-hwe-6.2 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hello.

  Ubuntu 22.04.3 with (later upgraded to kernel 6.2.0-32-generic) was
  installed in rewly purchased LENOVO V15 GEN4 AMN (AMD Ryzen 5 7520u)
  laptop and it was noticed that keyboard, touchpad and microphone are
  not working. The keyboard and touchpad work fine in BIOS setup and
  till GRUB (command line). It was found that when external devices such
  as keyboard, mouse and microphone are connected through USB and 3.5
  jack, respectively, these work just fine. To confirm these are not
  hardware problems, Microsoft Windows 11 (Home) was installed in
  another disk partition and observed all these working alright. Hence a
  bug is being reported to draw attention of the concerned team and I
  request them to refer this issue and do the needful at the earliest.

  Pradip Kumar Das

Bug description:
  [SRU Justification]

  BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2024427

  [Impact]

  Under stress testing it was reported that the amdgpu Navi31/Navi33 platforms
  will sometimes fail to wake from S3.

  [Fix]

  kernel patches:
  ac2f5739fdca drm/amdgpu/mes11: enable reg active poll
  a2fe4534bb38 drm/amd/amdgpu: update mes11 api def
  da9a8dc33da2 drm/amdgpu: reserve the old gc_11_0_*_mes.bin
  616843d5a11b drm/amd/amdgpu: introduce gc_*_mes_2.bin v2
  09bf14907d86 drm/amdgpu: declare firmware for new MES 11.0.4

  firmware patches:
  * Navi31: ffe1a41e2ddb amdgpu: update GC 11.0.0 firmware for amd.5.5 release
  * Navi33: a5d7b4df1a76 amdgpu: update GC 11.0.2 firmware for amd.5.5 release

  [Test Case]

  $ checkbox-cli run com.canonical.certification::stress-
  suspend-30-cycles-with-reboots-automated

  [Where problems could occur]

  Little we know about the firmware fixes. However, while with these commits
have
  been pulled via stable kernel fixes, the driver begins to request new firmware
  blobs of a different filename.

  [Other Info]

  The kernel driver commits are in v6.4-rc1, backported to v6.3.4, v6.1.31, and
  partially (missing da9a8dc33da2, 616843d5a11b) v6.2.16. Only linux/lunar has
to
  be fixed.

  For the firmware parts, they have been included in linux-firmware/mantic,
  leaving linux-firmware/lunar and linux-firmware/jammy to be fixed.

Bug description:
  [SRU Justification]

  BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2024427

  [Impact]

  Under stress testing it was reported that the amdgpu Navi31/Navi33 platforms
  will sometimes fail to wake from S3.

  [Fix]

  kernel patches:
  ac2f5739fdca drm/amdgpu/mes11: enable reg active poll
  a2fe4534bb38 drm/amd/amdgpu: update mes11 api def
  da9a8dc33da2 drm/amdgpu: reserve the old gc_11_0_*_mes.bin
  616843d5a11b drm/amd/amdgpu: introduce gc_*_mes_2.bin v2
  09bf14907d86 drm/amdgpu: declare firmware for new MES 11.0.4

  firmware patches:
  * Navi31: ffe1a41e2ddb amdgpu: update GC 11.0.0 firmware for amd.5.5 release
  * Navi33: a5d7b4df1a76 amdgpu: update GC 11.0.2 firmware for amd.5.5 release

  [Test Case]

  $ checkbox-cli run com.canonical.certification::stress-
  suspend-30-cycles-with-reboots-automated

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2033416] Re: change CONFIG_PERF_EVENTS_AMD_UNCORE from m to y

Yes, perf events are often used in performance analysis. Without loading
the module, uncore events, such as `amd_l3`, are missing from perf list.

  change CONFIG_PERF_EVENTS_AMD_UNCORE from m to y

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Ubuntu currently sets CONFIG_PERF_EVENTS_AMD_UNCORE=m for distro
  kernels.

  However, unlike plug and play devices, there is no way to load uncore module
when user tries to use uncore event.
  Also, a primary motivation to add module support in uncore driver was to ease
development (https://git.kernel.org/torvalds/c/05485745ad482).

  So, ask ubuntu to switch to CONFIG_PERF_EVENTS_AMD_UNCORE=y.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2038743] [NEW] No sound from ALC236 upon warm boot

2023-10-07 Thread Joseph Sible
Public bug reported:

On an HP 15z-fc000 laptop with Realtek ALC236 audio, on Ubuntu 22.04.3
with HWE kernel 6.2.0-34-generic, after doing a warm boot (i.e.,
"Restart" from the menu" or "sudo reboot"), no sound will be able to
play. Doing a cold boot (i.e., "Power Off" or "sudo poweroff" and then
pressing the power button to turn it back on) will make it start working
again.

This bug is a regression caused by commit 5aec98913095 ("ALSA:
hda/realtek - ALC236 headset MIC recording issue").

I've already worked with upstream to get a fix for this bug into the
mainline kernel, which has since landed as commit 69ea4c9d02b7 ("ALSA:
hda/realtek - remove 3k pull low procedure"), with commit 46cdff2369cb
("ALSA: hda/realtek - Remodified 3k pull low procedure") as a follow-up.
To fix this bug, those two commits just need to be cherry-picked into
Ubuntu's kernel.

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  The Kernel commit 130d4df57390 ("mm/sl[au]b: rearrange struct slab fields to
allow larger rcu_head"), included in Linux 6.2-rc1 and later versions,
introduced a change that aligns the offset of slab.slabs with that of
page.mapping.
  However, this modification unintentionally causes the makedumpfile command
with the -d 8 option, meant to exclude user data, to incorrectly exclude
certain slab pages.
  Consequently, when utilizing dumpfiles generated in this manner, the "crash"
utility may encounter an error when attempting to initiate a session:

  crash: page excluded: kernel virtual address: e269d428 type:
  "xa_node shift"

  [Fix]
  An upstream fix is available.

  [PATCH] Fix wrong exclusion of slab pages on Linux 6.2-rc1
  ==

  [Test Plan]
  1. Install the required packages and then proceed to reboot the machine.
  # sudo apt install crash linux-crashdump -y
  # reboot
  2. To check the status of kdump, use the `kdump-config show` command.
  # kdump-config show

  3. To trigger a crash dump forcefully, execute the `echo c | sudo tee
/proc/sysrq-trigger` command.
  4. Download the kernel .ddeb file, which will be used for analyzing the dump
file.
  # sudo -i
  # cd /var/crash
  # pull-lp-ddebs linux-image-unsigned-$(uname -r)
  # dpkg-deb -x linux-image-unsigned-$(uname -r)-*.ddeb dbgsym-$(uname -r)
  5. Utilize the "crash" utility to parse and analyze the dump file.
  # crash dbgsym-$(uname -r)/usr/lib/debug/boot/vmlinux-$(uname -r)
/dump.

  [Where problems could occur]
  The patch has altered the method for excluding slab pages, aligning with the
structural changes introduced in Linux 6.2-rc1.
  This modification is essential for Linux kernel 6.2.
  However, it's crucial to note that this change may impact the content of the
dump file, potentially leading to a situation where the "crash" utility is
unable to parse it in the worst-case scenario.

Hi Chengen,

The fix is included in 1.7.3 in mantic, so only lunar needs the fix.

We probably would like jammy as well, for compatibility with the 6.2+
HWE kernel (without regression to the 5.15 GA kernel).

Could you please check jammy for that too? (I'll add a task as
Incomplete.)

Title:
  Slab page exclusion issue on Linux 6.2-rc1

Status in makedumpfile package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in makedumpfile source package in Lunar:
  In Progress

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2038248] Re: Slab page exclusion issue on Linux 6.2-rc1

2023-10-07 Thread Mauricio Faria de Oliveira
Hi Chengen,

Thanks for the detailed SRU template and debdiff!

I have only 2 minor fixes, which I already performed:
- Version: s/ubuntu1/ubuntu0.1/ (see doc [1])
- Maintainer: this is the first 'ubuntu' version, so run `update-maintainer`
(see `debian/control` hunk).

The updated debdiff is attached for reference,
and I'll continue the work on sponsoring this.

cheers

  This legacy driver had the last update on 2022.11.22, and is EOL

  maybe even before Mantic is released.

  We're planning on migrating the kernel from fbdev drivers to using
  simpledrm, but this old driver doesn't support the fbdev emulation
  layer, meaning that VT's would remain blank when the driver is used.

  Similarly 418-server and 450-server are also EOL and unsupported.

  Also we shomehow have remains of 440-server published in the archive,
  with many superseeded (hostile takeover) of binary packages by
  450-server.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2030978] Re: kernel 6.5 changes cause UBSAN errors (patch included)

2023-10-07 Thread Boris Gjenero
I applied the patch to files in /usr/src/broadcom-sta-6.30.223.271/ and then
reinstalled linux-image-6.5.0-7-generic to make DKMS rebuild the module. It
made this error go away:
UBSAN: array-index-out-of-bounds in
/var/lib/dkms/broadcom-sta/6.30.223.271/build/src/wl/sys/wl_cfg80211_hybrid.c:2394:26
But this error remains:
UBSAN: array-index-out-of-bounds in
/var/lib/dkms/broadcom-sta/6.30.223.271/build/src/wl/sys/wl_linux.c:1935:4

I did verify that in /usr/src/broadcom-sta-6.30.223.271/src/include/wlioctl.h,
the relevant struct has been changed:
struct maclist {
uint count;
struct ether_addr ea[];
};

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2038410] Re: after kernel upgrade today to 6.2.0-33 network and bluetooth stopped waorking

2023-10-07 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug.

Your install media was 22.04.3, the ubuntu-release-upgrader tool is used
to release-upgrade to a later release; but you're still using Ubuntu
22.04 thus haven't used the tool. You've likely filed the issue against
an incorrect package (the kernel is changed, not upgraded; as 22.04
system would be upgraded to 23.04 & thus the kernel changed to the 23.04
kernel).

If you have issues with a linux kernel, I suggest filing against that
kernel.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709

** Package changed: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu)

Bug description:
  [Impact]

  kdump fails on arm64, on machines with a lot of memory when offset is not
specified,
  e.g when /etc/default/grub.d/kdump-tools.cfg looks like:
  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="$GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT crashkernel=4G"

  If kdump-tools.cfg specifies the offset e.g.:
  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="$GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT crashkernel=4G@4G"
  it works ok.

  The reason for this is that the kernel needs to allocate memory for the
crashkernel both
  in low and high memory.
  This is addressed in kernel 6.2.
  In addition kexec-tools needs to support more than one crash kernel region.

  [Fix]

  To address this issue the following upstream commits are needed:

  - From the kernel side:

  commit a9ae89df737756d92f0e14873339cf393f7f7eb0
  Author: Zhen Lei
  Date: Wed Nov 16 20:10:44 2022 +0800

  arm64: kdump: Support crashkernel=X fall back to reserve region
  above DMA zones

  commit a149cf00b158e1793a8dd89ca492379c366300d2
  Author: Zhen Lei
  Date: Wed Nov 16 20:10:43 2022 +0800

  arm64: kdump: Provide default size when crashkernel=Y,low is not
  specified

  - From kexec-tools:

  commit b5a34a20984c4ad27cc5054d9957af8130b42a50
  Author: Chen Zhou
  Date: Mon Jan 10 18:20:08 2022 +0800

  arm64: support more than one crash kernel regions

  Affected releases:
  Jammy, Focal, Bionic

  For Bionic we won't fix it as we need to backport a lot of code and the
regression potential is too high.
  The same applies for the Focal 5.4 kernel.
  Only the Focal 5.15 hwe kernel (from Jammy) will be fixed.

  [Test Plan]

  You need an arm64 machine (can be a VM too) with large memory e.g. 128G.
  Install linux-crashdump, configure the crash kernel size, and trigger a crash.

  1) Failing scenario (crashkernel >= 4G, without offset "@"):

  It won't work unless the offset is specified because the memory
  crashkernel cannot be allocated.

  With the patches applied it works as expected without having to
  specify the offset.

  2) Working scenario (crashkernel < 4G, e.g., 'crashkernel=1G')

  This must continue to work with the new patches (ie, no regressions),
  including patched kexec-tools on unpatched kernel (eg, 5.4 kernel on
  Focal).

  [Regression Potential]

  KERNEL 5.15 - Jammy (and Focal via the HWE kernel):

  To address this problem in the 5.15 kernel we need to pull in 7 commits (see
[Other] section for details.
  All the commits are changing code only for arm64 architecture and only the
code related to reserving the crashkernel.
  This means that any regression potential will affect only the arm64
architecture and in particular the crash/kdump functionality.
  However, since the reservation of the crashkernel occurs at boot up,
potentially things could go wrong there as well.

  kexec-tools - FOCAL:

  To fix the kexec_tools in focal we need to pull in 6 commits (see [Other
section for details]). They all cherry pick.
  Four out of six commits touch only arm64 code. Any regression potential
because of these commits would regard either crashdump or kexec functionality.
  Commit cf977b1af9ec67fab adds code without altering current functionality.
  Commit f4ce0706d9574aecb7 adds functionality to read elf notes. In practive
it moves the code from vmcore-dmesg.c to elf_info.c so it can be used by other
features.

  kexec-tools - JAMMY, LUNAR, MANTIC:

  Commit b5a34a20984c is pulled in, it cherry-picks. It changes only
  arm64 code. It enables kexec to recognise that the reserved kernel may
  use more than one kernel region. Things could go worng when gatherinng
  a crashdump.

  [Other]

  Commits to backport

  - MANTIC:

  kernel 6.3: not affected

  kexec-tools:

  [Impact]

  Under stress testing it was reported that the amdgpu Navi31/Navi33 platforms
  will sometimes fail to wake from S3.

  [Fix]

  kernel patches:
  ac2f5739fdca drm/amdgpu/mes11: enable reg active poll
  a2fe4534bb38 drm/amd/amdgpu: update mes11 api def
  da9a8dc33da2 drm/amdgpu: reserve the old gc_11_0_*_mes.bin

  09bf14907d86 drm/amdgpu: declare firmware for new MES 11.0.4

  firmware patches:
  * Navi31: ffe1a41e2ddb amdgpu: update GC 11.0.0 firmware for amd.5.5 release
  * Navi33: a5d7b4df1a76 amdgpu: update GC 11.0.2 firmware for amd.5.5 release

  [Test Case]

  $ checkbox-cli run com.canonical.certification::stress-
  suspend-30-cycles-with-reboots-automated

  [Where problems could occur]

  Little we know about the firmware fixes. However, while with these commits
have
  been pulled via stable kernel fixes, the driver begins to request new firmware
  blobs of a different filename.

  [Other Info]

  The kernel driver commits are in v6.4-rc1, backported to v6.3.4, v6.1.31, and
  partially (missing da9a8dc33da2, 616843d5a11b) v6.2.16. Only linux/lunar has
to
  be fixed.

  For the firmware parts, they have been included in linux-firmware/mantic,
  leaving linux-firmware/lunar and linux-firmware/jammy to be fixed.

Bug description:
  [SRU Justification]

  BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2024427

  [Impact]

  Under stress testing it was reported that the amdgpu Navi31/Navi33 platforms
  will sometimes fail to wake from S3.

  [Fix]

  kernel patches:
  ac2f5739fdca drm/amdgpu/mes11: enable reg active poll
  a2fe4534bb38 drm/amd/amdgpu: update mes11 api def
  da9a8dc33da2 drm/amdgpu: reserve the old gc_11_0_*_mes.bin
  616843d5a11b drm/amd/amdgpu: introduce gc_*_mes_2.bin v2
  09bf14907d86 drm/amdgpu: declare firmware for new MES 11.0.4

  firmware patches:
  * Navi31: ffe1a41e2ddb amdgpu: update GC 11.0.0 firmware for amd.5.5 release
  * Navi33: a5d7b4df1a76 amdgpu: update GC 11.0.2 firmware for amd.5.5 release

  [Test Case]

  $ checkbox-cli run com.canonical.certification::stress-
  suspend-30-cycles-with-reboots-automated

  == original bug report ==

  amdgppu update is needed to fix some potential Navi31/Navi33 S3 issue.

Bug description:
  [SRU Justification]

  BugLink: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2024427

  [Impact]

  Under stress testing it was reported that the amdgpu Navi31/Navi33 platforms
  will sometimes fail to wake from S3.

  [Fix]

  kernel patches:
  ac2f5739fdca drm/amdgpu/mes11: enable reg active poll
  a2fe4534bb38 drm/amd/amdgpu: update mes11 api def
  da9a8dc33da2 drm/amdgpu: reserve the old gc_11_0_*_mes.bin
  616843d5a11b drm/amd/amdgpu: introduce gc_*_mes_2.bin v2
  09bf14907d86 drm/amdgpu: declare firmware for new MES 11.0.4

  firmware patches:
  * Navi31: ffe1a41e2ddb amdgpu: update GC 11.0.0 firmware for amd.5.5 release
  * Navi33: a5d7b4df1a76 amdgpu: update GC 11.0.2 firmware for amd.5.5 release

  [Test Case]

  $ checkbox-cli run com.canonical.certification::stress-
  suspend-30-cycles-with-reboots-automated

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2024427] Re: S3 stress issue for amdgpu Navi 31/Navi33

2023-10-07 Thread Jeroen Webb
I believe this is the right journal. It has a couple of amdgpu call
stacks.

I had a lot of restarts trying to get stuff working.

I'll try out that specific file later today.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2038719] Re: Monitor Issues

2023-10-07 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better.

Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically
gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 2038719

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

Please note: `ubuntu-bug`, `apport` & bug reporting tools are provided
with Ubuntu by default, many require manual addition for some releases
of downstream OSes based on Ubuntu (eg. Linux Mint). You should check
with your distribution first.

Title:
  Monitor Issues

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Originally on Kernel 5.13 my GPU is not detected and only one monitor
  out of my three functions. I originally fixed this by moving to the
  latest (6.2) which came with its own issues, of which all were
  resolved.

  Yesterday I updated firmware, and this morning after reboot only one
  monitor works again, and the monitor is all stripey and there are 4 of
  a corner of the screen displayed in strips. The operation is fine but
  the display is broken.

  Hopefully this describes the issue enough, if you need an image just
  tell me how to upload it - I am on the mint distro, I am a newbie to
  this so I hope this is still the right place.

  GPU: Radeon 7900XTX

Bug description:
  [Impact]
  Scary kernel splat about RCU can be observed everytime laptop resumes
  from suspend.

  [Fix]
  Use non-atomic notifier for power supply change to relax the constraint.

  [Test]
  Once the fix is applied, no more RCU warning can be found after several
  suspend/resume cycle.

  [Where problems could occur]
  Essentially no regression potential. Atomic notifier should be used by
  core kernel, and things like power supply doesn't need to be atomic
  anyway.

Bug description:
  Following a recent change from linux-kvm kernel to linux-generic
  kernel in the mantic minimized images, there is a reproducable bug
  where a guest VM does not have an IP address assigned as part of
  cloud-init provisioning.

  This is easiest to reproduce when emulating arm64 on amd64 host. The
  bug is a race condition, so there could exist fast enough
  virtualisation on fast enough hardware where this bug is not present
  but in all my testing I have been able to reproduce.

  The latest mantic minimized images from http://cloud-
  images.ubuntu.com/minimal/daily/mantic/ have force initrdless boot and
  no initrd to fallback to.

  This but is not present in the non minimized/base images @
  http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/mantic/ as these boot with initrd with
  the required drivers present for virtio-net.

  Reproducer

  ```
  wget -O "launch-qcow2-image-qemu-arm64.sh"
https://people.canonical.com/~philroche/20230921-cloud-images-mantic-fail-to-provision/launch-qcow2-image-qemu-arm64.sh
  chmod +x ./launch-qcow2-image-qemu-arm64.sh
  wget
https://people.canonical.com/~philroche/20230921-cloud-images-mantic-fail-to-provision/livecd.ubuntu-cpc.img
  ./launch-qcow2-image-qemu-arm64.sh --password passw0rd --image
./livecd.ubuntu-cpc.img
  ```

  You will then be able to log in with user `ubuntu` and password
  `passw0rd`.

  You can run `ip a` and see that there is a network interface present
  (separate to `lo`) but no IP address has been assigned.

  ```
  ubuntu@cloudimg:~$ ip a
  1: lo:  mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group
default qlen 1000
  link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
  inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo
     valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
  inet6 ::1/128 scope host
     valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
  2: enp0s1:  mtu 1500 qdisc noop state DOWN group default
qlen 1000
  link/ether 52:54:00:12:34:56 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
  ```

  This is because when cloud-init is trying to configure network
  interfaces it doesn't find any so it doesn't configure any. But by the
  time boot is complete the network interface is present but cloud-init
  provisioning has already completed.

  You can verify this by running `sudo cloud-init clean && sudo cloud-
  init init`

  You can then see a successfully configured network interface

  ```
  ubuntu@cloudimg:~$ ip a
  1: lo:  mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group
default qlen 1000
  link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
     valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
  inet6 ::1/128 scope host
     valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
  2: enp0s1:  mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state
  The bug is also reproducible with amd64 guest on adm64 host on
  older/slower hardware.
  The suggested fixes while debugging this issue are:
  * to include `virtio-net` as a built-in in the mantic generic kernel
  * understand what needs to change in cloud-init so that it can react to late
additions of network interfaces
  I will file a separate bug against cloud-init to address the race
  condition on emulated guest/older hardware.
[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2037672] Re: amdgpu: [gfxhub] page fault when switching a video to or from fullscreen
Yes, it still happens with mesa 23.2.1-1ubuntu2. Additionally, it is not
only with video fullscreen. Same happens if I start synaptic for
example. Sometimes it hangs for 10 seconds too. Seems to affect multiple
applications and is triggered by multiple ways.
  Hi,
[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2031537] Re: Ethernet not stable 23.04 (RTL8168/8169)
2023-10-07 Thread ahmed hanafi al-sayed
hi all,
when I changed setting to get pre release the kernel wasn't there yet
I downloaded those files
linux-headers-6.2.0-36_6.2.0-36.37_all.deb
linux-headers-6.2.0-36-generic_6.2.0-36.37_amd64.deb
linux-image-unsigned-6.2.0-36-generic_6.2.0-36.37_amd64.deb
linux-modules-6.2.0-36-generic_6.2.0-36.37_amd64.deb
linux-modules-extra-6.2.0-36-generic_6.2.0-36.37_amd64.deb
from https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-
team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/26751907
ran sudo dpkg -i *.deb in the file I created specifically to put them in
uname -a
Linux OptiPlex-3090 6.2.0-36-generic #37-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed Oct  4
10:14:28 UTC 2023 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
this is my running kernel now I hope it is all okay
Title:
  Ethernet not stable 23.04 (RTL8168/8169)
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in linux source package in Lunar:
  Fix Committed
Bug description:
  [Impact]
  Ethernet is unstable with Realtek RTL8168h/8111h NIC and kernel 6.2
  resulting in frequent transmit queue timeouts. Related to ASPM. See
  'original description' below.
  [Test Case]
  Just regular usage for an extended period of time. No transmit queue
  timeouts with RTL8168h/8111h NICs.
  [Where Problems Could Occur]
  Modification are isolated to the r8169 driver so only machine where
  that driver is loaded are affected. Issues could show up as kernel
  crashes, stack traces, non-fnuctional wired network.
  [Original Description]
  hello,
  it is my first time reporting a pug hope it is the last
  there is thread here
  https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2489146=14151513
  another user experienced similar issue
  my network work fine at startup keep working for hours then disconnect and
cannot reconnect without a restart
  I tested the cable using another pc and it was working repluged with no
difference
  I thought it is caused by nvidia driver so changed it and the problem
  persist
  I use systemd-networkd
