[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1953554] Re: NETDEV WATCHDOG: waneth (ax88179_178a): transmit queue 0 timed out

2023-01-06 Thread Anatoly Kupriyanov
I see it seems depends on how the adapter is connected. Previously it
was plugged into monitor's USB hub and I had the issues. Now I've
plugged it directly into laptop's port, it works fine so far.

I guess it may be caused by other devices (maybe usb headset I have?..
it may explain why it happens during video calls) on the same bus
interfering with the network adapter.

Title:
Internal microphone not working on Lenovo Ideapad 330S-15ARR

Status in Linux:
  Confirmed
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The internal microphone on this troublesome laptop stopped working
after upgrading from Bionic to Cosmic. There is no signal from the
microphone with kernel 4.18.0-7 or 4.18.0-8.

This DOES work correctly with kernel 4.15.0-34 that is still present
  on Cosmic after the upgrade.

I recommend Canonical gets this laptop for testing since a ton of
stuff is troublesome on this Raven Ridge laptop. Would be a good
specimen to get support for this platform improved.

No I don't. All I have is this:

~$ sudo ls /sys/class/wmi_bus
wmi_bus-PNP0C14:00  wmi_bus-PNP0C14:01  wmi_bus-PNP0C14:02

Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1857307] Re: Wireless wouldn't turn on.

2019-12-23 Thread Anatoly
Hello,

Thank you for getting back to me. I am reporting on 19.10,  PCI
wireless.

1. Here the rfkill output:

$ sudo rfkill unblock all

$ sudo rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
     Soft blocked: no
     Hard blocked: yes

2. There is no any special switch but F8 key which I suppose works when
pressed F8+Fn but i doesn't get wireless on still. If F8 pressed alone
-- no difference either.

3. I checked the BIOS-> Security: Wireless LAN   [Enabled]

I guess it caused by shim-signed:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1655878] Re: uvcvideo fails to init camera and then dmesg is full with traces

2017-01-25 Thread anatoly techtonik
I failed to run on new kernel - I tried to run linux-
image-4.10.0-041000rc4-generic_4.10.0-041000rc4.201701152031_amd64.deb
and it just hangs.

I also tried to remove nvidia module and failed.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1655878] Re: uvcvideo fails to init camera and then dmesg is full with traces

2017-01-16 Thread anatoly techtonik
I don't remember that I tried to use this camera before.

Trying to follow the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds - it says to uninstall out-
of-tree modules, but doesn't refer to how to identify them and actually
uninstall.

There is exactly the same issue at
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/196616/identify-out-of-tree-
modules but provided solution looks more like hack. Maybe it is outdated
and there is a better official way to get them?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1655878] [NEW] uvcvideo fails to init camera and then dmesg is full with traces

2017-01-12 Thread anatoly techtonik
Public bug reported:

The dmesg log should be attached. Camera doesn't work. It worked once
when I first plugged it and run guvcview (cheese couldn't find it).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1520355] Re: Kernel/Debugging/Backlight/Ubuntu Gnome 15.10

2016-02-15 Thread Anatoly
Christopher, on Ubuntu 16.04, the problem with the backlight decided easy for
this recipe:
create a file named 20-intel.conf
sudo touch /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
opened it for editing
sudo gedit /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
insert lines
Section "Device"
Identifier "card0"
Driver "intel"
Option "Backlight" "intel_backlight"
BusID "PCI:0:2:0"
EndSection
saved and rebooted
brightness adjustment earned.
In unity with Ubuntu 14.04, 15.10, 16.04 it works, but on Ubuntu GNOME not.
The report failed to do. There was the program to install:
sudo apt-get install -y fwts acpidump dmidecode iasl

2016-02-14 Thread Anatoly
sudo nautilus /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight
then edit the file "brightness"
Of the ways described here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Debugging/Backlight
it only works: echo 8 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1520355] Re: Kernel/Debugging/Backlight/Ubuntu Gnome 15.10

2016-02-13 Thread Anatoly
Christopher, I tried the kernel (4.5-rc3). The result - the backlight is not
adjustable. I think the problem is not in the kernel.
I use Ubuntu Gnome, but more than a month ago, I installed the MATE
environment, right at the gnome, then Gnome and MATE mixed up, but surrounded
by MATE the lighting was regulated, with kernels 4.2. I think it is Gnome. Only
I didn't realize to whom to report it. I would be grateful if prompt.

The problem is that the slider move, but brightness doesn't change.
This command decreases the brightness:
echo 8 > /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight/brightness

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1380249] Re: [Lenovo IdeaPad Y550P] Mute LED indication is inverted

2014-10-23 Thread Anatoly Trosinenko
I have applied this patch:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16373#c21 on top of stable
3.17.1 kernel from kernel.org (patch said Hunk #1 succeeded at 5783
(offset 170 lines).). I tested it personally on my hardware and this
patch fixed this bug (at least on my hardware).

Title:
[Lenovo IdeaPad Y550P] Mute LED indication is inverted

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Steps to reproduce (on my hardware):
  Boot Ubuntu 14.10.
Press Mute hardware button several times.

  What is expected:
When mute is on button LED is on, when mute is off button LED is off.

  What really happens:
Mute button LED state is inverted relatively to what is expected.

  Notes:
This bug is reproducible also when booted into the root shell of the recovery
mode and switching mute state on/off with alsamixer while playing some audio
file to control the actual mute state (button press does not mute/unmute sound
in this case, but LED switches on/off in respond to alsamixer).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1380249] Re: [Lenovo IdeaPad Y550P] Mute LED indication is inverted

2014-10-13 Thread Anatoly Trosinenko
I have tested using the following packages (their date is 06 Oct 2014):

linux-headers-3.17.0-031700_3.17.0-031700.201410060605_all.deb
linux-headers-3.17.0-031700-generic_3.17.0-031700.201410060605_amd64.deb
linux-image-3.17.0-031700-generic_3.17.0-031700.201410060605_amd64.deb

The problem still present.

I am not sure if it is relevant, but in the bug report Lenovo Yxx0 mute
indicator not work (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16373)
concerning mute LED usage implementation for Lenovo Y550-4CWI, it was
stated by Takashi Iwai that LED may be wrongly on at non-mute time,
but that patch was not tested by the original reporter.
