[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1859223] Re: Firmware missing for Thinkpad X-series Bluetooth adapters, heads to headset HSP/HFP profiles not working
Note that I've found dozens of posts on the web that describe the same symptom, and a subset of those arrive at the same conclusion of this bug. I do agree that the license that the github repo holds indicates that the files are made available for personal use, but perhaps we can address that. For my information, what licenses cover the firmware files we are shipping today in the brcm/ subdirectory that linux-firmware currently installs? [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1574069] Re: zfs dkms kernel module failed to build
Hmm. Does this problem not reoccur every time a new kernel package is installed? Or does it happen only once when upgrading into Xenial? I'm not sure we should remove the package from the repo, given I think there are valid use cases for it, but perhaps we could make it so installing the Xenial kernel removed it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to zfs-linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1574069 Title: zfs dkms kernel module failed to build Status in zfs-linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I'm already using ZFS (since 15.10) so I'm re-submitting in case this provides more data to debug the issue. Commit f8747d4a466a ("tty: Fix pty master read() after slave closes") fixed theproblem in case of n_tty_read, but the problem still exists for n_tty_poll.This can be seen by running 'for ((i=0; i<100;i++));do ./test.py ;done'where test.py is: import os, select, pty (pid, pty_fd) = pty.fork() if pid == 0: os.write(1, 'This string should be received by parent') else: poller = select.epoll() poller.register( pty_fd, select.EPOLLIN ) ready = poller.poll( 1 * 1000 ) for fd, events in ready: if not events & select.EPOLLIN: print 'missed POLLIN event' else: print os.read(fd, 100) poller.close() The string from the slave is missed several times. This patch takes the same approach as the fix for read and special casesthis condition for poll. Tested on 3.16. # This is has been merged to Linus Torvalds branch: https://github.com/torvalds/linux/commit/c4dc304677e8d566572c4738d95c48be150c6606 This would be needed to be implemented in to 3.13 kernel too. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1349711] Re: Machine lockup in btrfs-transaction
I'll agree with Tomasz -- running the 3.18.1 kernel I've had much better experience with btrfs than with Trusty's stock 3.13. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #90401 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90401 ** Also affects: linux via http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90401 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1349711 Title: Machine lockup in btrfs-transaction Status in The Linux Kernel: Unknown Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This has happened twice now. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1397414] [NEW] mei module occasionally hangs boot on ASRock E3C226D2I
Public bug reported: The default install of 14.04 loads the mei module for this motherboard, and it occasionally causes boot to hang with a message: mei: init hw failure. Right after the btrfs scan. This has been experienced elsewhere it seems: http://www.thomas- krenn.com/en/wiki/Resolve_mei:_Init_hw_failure_or_mei:_initialization_failed For background, this motherboard has a Xeon E3-1270. I don't think the C226 even has MEI/vPro on it, so we should probably just blacklist for the moment. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1397414 Title: mei module occasionally hangs boot on ASRock E3C226D2I Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The default install of 14.04 loads the mei module for this motherboard, and it occasionally causes boot to hang with a message: mei: init hw failure. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1158668] Re: Build cpupower from kernel tools
This could probably be handled in the kernel-tools package. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Expired = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1158668 Title: Build cpupower from kernel tools Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu supplies the cpufrequtils package, which has been rendered obsolete by cpupower. It is included in the kernel source as of linux-3.1 [2], located at tools/power/cpupower/. I don't think that it is explicitly tied to a particular kernel version, so it may be best built separately from the kernel packages. There is no consensus among other distributions: Fedora includes it in their kernel-tools package; SuSE and RHEL pull from the git repo and build as a separate cpupower or cpupowerutils package (similar to how cpufrequtils was done); Arch takes it from the kernel source and builds it along with other tools into separate packages. cpupower provides a number of things that cpufrequtils does not, and is invaluable in a server environment for tuning of power management. Of particular note is the ability to set perf_bias on Intel processors; I am not aware of another tool that can do this. It is also the focus of power utility development, and should be available on Ubuntu systems.
