Title:
Asus Zenbook Flip 15 ux563fd no sound

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Bought a new laptop for a couple weeks ago and want to have a dual
boot with W10 and Linux like my older one. First, I installed Ubuntu
18.04 and tried to make sound working via the speakers. I tried
alsamixer, made sure everything was on OO, reinstalled both alsamixer
and pulseaudio couple times, checked permissions on the config of
pulseaudio and more what could fix it in regular terms including
installing and replacing kernels older and new ones. As a last option,
I installed version 19.10 from Ubuntu as someone mentioned that the
higher version could fix it because of the different supported
packages but is not resolving it.

Nothing of the above mentioned things where fixing it, but I still see
some movement at streaming bar in the sound option menu when I'm
playing some music. I hope there is a workaround for this issue, I
just found the whole Zenbook laptop line that has this problem so I
really hope for a solution to this.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1497005] Re: 197b:0250 JMicron JMC250 Gigabit ethernet doesn't work

2015-10-29 Thread Driuchatyi Nikolay
I have sent an email to JMicron. There is an answer:

The JMC25x/JMC26x Gigabit Ethernet Chip was mass production at 2008Y, at that
time, the IEEE802.3az specification wasn’t ready. So this chip will have a
connection issue while connecting to all the IEEE 802.3az enabled devices, that
is, if the ‘Speed & Duplex’ feature sets to ”Auto Negotiation” mode or
”1Gbps/Full Duplex” mode, then the link function is abnormal, i.e. link down.
Therefore our S/W engineer made a workaround - ASD(Auto-Speed-Down) function to
force the LAN speed keeping in 100Mbps when the ‘Speed & Duplex’ feature has
been set to “Auto Negotiation” mode or ”1Gbps/Full Duplex” mode.
My suggestion is to use non-IEEE802.3az Gigabit equipment then your connection
speed would keep as 1Gbps.

2015-10-27 Thread Driuchatyi Nikolay
I tried to use the recommended driver version from ASUS support website:
V6.0.27.6
http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/Drivers/LAN/JMicron/LAN_JMicron_JMC251_Win7_32_Win7_64_Z60276.zip

After that, I used the latest one for Windows 7 x64 from JMicron support
website: http://jmicron-pci-express-gigabit-ethernet-
ada1.drivers.informer.com/

2015-10-25 Thread Driuchatyi Nikolay
I have installed Windows to re-check this issue. Unfortunatelly, adapter works
automatically only on 100 Mbps.
Forced setting up to 1Gbps didn't help - link is down.
Seems like it is a hardware problem.

JMicron JMC250 Gigabit ethernet doesn't work

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Laptop ASUS X52JU can't connect to the router ASUS RT-AC68U via ethernet.
NetworkManager shows that cable is unplugged. Router has Gigabit ethernet ports

  I tried to use
sudo ethtool -s eth0 speed 100 duplex full
but I would like to be able to use Gigabit LAN.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1310798] Re: JMicron JMC250 ethernet: networking always disconnected

2015-09-16 Thread Driuchatyi Nikolay
I faced with the same problem on Ubuntu 14.04/Laptop ASUS X52JU/Router ASUS
RT-AC68U.
Laptop has the same ethernet controller.
Workaround with setting up of the speed to 100 is working for me too.

Title:
JMicron JMC250 ethernet: networking always disconnected

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
What is expected in 14.04 is ethernet networking works when cable
connected. What happens instead is it always shows "disconnected",
  even when cable connected.

In Ubuntu 12.04, this same ethernet controller also exhibited the same
problem. However it was fixable by downloading and manually compiling
a new version of the jme drivers from here:
  ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/Ethernet/Linux/jmebp-1.0.8.5.tar.bz . In
14.04, the above 1.0.8.5 driver no longer compiles and is thus not
installable. I tried downloading and compiling the latest source for
  the driver from
  https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/drivers/net/ethernet/jme.c.
This driver does compile, but after installation still doesn't work,
with the wired network status always showing "disconnected".

Output of dmesg | grep jme
[2.044151] jme: JMicron JMC2XX ethernet driver version 1.0.8
[2.044209] jme :02:00.5: can't disable ASPM; OS doesn't have ASPM
control

  [ 22.328814] jme :02:00.5 eth0: Link is down

WORKAROUND: The following terminal command provides 100 Mbps ethernet speed:
sudo ethtool -s eth0 speed 100 duplex full
