[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1691600] [NEW] oops on 4.4.0-66-generic
Public bug reported: My long running (year old) Ubuntu 16.04 AWS instance got wedged sometime yesterday. I was able to (barely) log in, but I found a system load of 248 (on a single core system), and it was basically unusable. After a reboot, I inspected the logs around the time at which it stopped reporting to Landscape and I found a kernel trace (attached). Note, that I am running canonical-livepatch. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "syslog.2.gz" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1691600/+attachment/4878664/+files/syslog.2.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1691600 Title: oops on 4.4.0-66-generic Status in linux package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: My long running (year old) Ubuntu 16.04 AWS instance got wedged sometime yesterday. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1627909] Re: zfs-linux should be using python3 for python userspace tools
Elevating priority to "critical", as this is blocking zfs from landing in the default Ubuntu Server seed. Adding a task for Xenial, and marking this bug for SRU, as we want to bring this back to 16.04 as well. [Impact] 32 bit users experience corruption of large files. [Fix] A cast is needed when shifting the page's index. Colin and I independently identified the problem. It is a simple fix that has been merged upstream: http://git.kernel.org/linus/43b7c6c6a4e3916edd186ceb61be0c67d1e0969e [Test Case] Inside of an eCryptfs mount on an i686 Ubuntu install, create a file containing 4 GB + 1 page worth (4096 bytes) of zeros. Then inspect the file for non-zero bytes. $ rm zeros $ dd if=/dev/zero of=zeros bs=4096 count=$((4*1024*1024*1024/4096+4096)) 1052672+0 records in 1052672+0 records out 4311744512 bytes (4.3 GB) copied, 226.133 s, 19.1 MB/s $ hexdump -C zeros 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 || * 10100 The hexdump output should show all zeros. A non patched kernel will show non-zero bytes. [Original Bug Report] on extracting files with extracted size >4 GB files are getting currupted. interestingly file gets currupted in the very moment the file size gets more than 4GB. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1366023] [NEW] USB broken on Intel NUC (Ivy Bridge D53427RKE / BOXDC53427HYE) with Utopic Kernel
Public bug reported: This bug is likely related, or at least has the same root cause as Bug #1350480, which specifically is affecting Trusty. I installed yesterday's daily Utopic build (and applied all updates) to an Intel NUC, which has worked very well for me with 13.10 and 14.04 (except Bug #1350480). There are lots of different NUCs out there. This one, in particularly is an Ivy Bridge D53427RKE / BOXDC53427HYE with i5-3427U CPU. It also has 16GB of RAM, a 120GB Kingston mSATA SSD, a 2TB USB3 Western Digital external hard drive, a USB3 Ethernet adapter, and a USB keyboard/mouse. The installation completed successfully, but subsequent reboots rendered this machine unusable. The USB/Keyboard and mouse were not usable in the OS (though perfectly functional in BIOS). The USB Ethernet dongle was not usable. The USB hard drive was not visible. Note that the test kernel provided at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1350480/ fixed all of these issues. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1366023 Title: USB broken on Intel NUC (Ivy Bridge D53427RKE / BOXDC53427HYE) with Utopic Kernel Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: This bug is likely related, or at least has the same root cause as Bug #1350480, which specifically is affecting Trusty. Just FYI. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1331150 Title: arp fails to update, 3.13.0-{24,29} Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: in an AWS environment managed by BOSH, we saw tcp connectivity problems between pairs of VMs. VM A and VM B are up, running ubuntu 14.04-based images, and in the same vpc subnet. VM B is terminated, and another VM is created that uses the IP address from VM B The new VM tries to make a tcp connection to VM A. In some cases, the connection fails. Investigation reveals that VM A has the old MAC address in its neighbor list. In some cases, running arp -d on VM A "fixes the problem". Also in some cases, running arping in gratuitous arp mode on the new VM also fixes the problem. The problem does not occur if VM A is running an ubuntu 10.04-based image. The problem seems to occur only on machines with lots of tcp connection traffic between them. 'arp -d' and arping on the new VM do not seem to "fix" the problem if there are processes on the VMs that are trying to create new TCP connections. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1210393] Re: MAAS ipmi fails on OCPv3 Roadrunner
Hey Jason! Thanks! Could you please re-assign this bug, then, to Samantha or Rod? And Samantha/Rod, could you please update the status (in-progress) when you're working on it? That helps those of us here watching/waiting for this work to complete :-) Thanks! Dustin -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1210393 Title: MAAS ipmi fails on OCPv3 Roadrunner Status in MAAS: In Progress Status in Open Compute Project: Confirmed Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “linux” source package in Saucy: Confirmed Bug description: The OCPv3 Roadrunner machine has been fully enabled and passes certification testing. When testing ipmitool locally I'm able to setup the BMC and users, etc. When using MAAS, MAAS is able to setup the BMC network information (I see that it changes that), but it appears to fail to set a username and password. If I try to use the username and password as defined in the MAAS GUI, it fails. Therefore commissioning and juju bootstrapping the node has to be done manually (by physically pushing the power button). If I use the username/password I've set on the BMC I can see that MAAS fails to set the username 'maas' and the password as defined in the MAAS gui. Since the commissioning/enlisting process is temporary and I'm not sure how to login to this phase to gather data, troubleshooting tips are welcome.
