[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1559576] Re: Ubuntu GNOME boots to black screen when using proprietary Nvidia drivers on a laptop with Optimus
I am seeing the same behavior with a Dell Precision 3420 (Service Tag 318HFB2). No NVIDIA, just i7-6700 HD430, 1 or 2 monitors turned on. Worked fine using defaualt DM (Unity) then installed gnome-shell and it broke. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1559576 Title: Ubuntu GNOME boots to black screen when using proprietary Nvidia drivers on a laptop with Optimus Status in gdm: Confirmed Status in Ubuntu GNOME: Triaged Status in gdm3 package in Ubuntu: Triaged Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in gdm3 source package in Xenial: Triaged Status in linux source package in Xenial: Invalid Bug description: Using latest Ubuntu Gnome x64 daily build with all updates installed. Can only see a black screen instead of a log-in screen after boot completes when proprietary Nvidia drivers are installed. apport information ** Attachment added: ProcCpuinfo.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405907/+attachment/4300123/+files/ProcCpuinfo.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405907 Title: Z97 requires xHCI for USB2: IR remote unusable Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Ubuntu 14.10, kernel 3.17.0 I have an HP MCE IR remote receiver that will not work on my ASRock Z97 based system, whether plugged into USB2 or USB3 ports. It is known that this device did not work in USB3 ports, but with the Z97 it will not work on either. The symptom is that when you use ir-keytable -t to display the scan codes for keys pressed, you will get inconsistent codes for the same key. The problem seems to be that Z97 requires xHCI: Due to the design of the Intel 9 series chipset, all USB devices connected to the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports are controlled by the xHCI controller. Some legacy USB devices must update their firmware for better compatibility. apport information ** Attachment added: UdevDb.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405907/+attachment/4300128/+files/UdevDb.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405907 Title: Z97 requires xHCI for USB2: IR remote unusable Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Ubuntu 14.10, kernel 3.17.0 I have an HP MCE IR remote receiver that will not work on my ASRock Z97 based system, whether plugged into USB2 or USB3 ports. Some legacy USB devices must update their firmware for better compatibility. apport information ** Tags added: utopic ** Description changed: Ubuntu 14.10, kernel 3.17.0 I have an HP MCE IR remote receiver that will not work on my ASRock Z97 based system, whether plugged into USB2 or USB3 ports. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1405907] Re: Z97 requires xHCI for USB2: IR remote unusable
When I tried running 'apport-collect 1405907' it complained that since I was running kernel 3.17, that it wasn't really supported and that I should file a bug report against kernel.org. I haven't yet completed that process since it seems incumbant upon me to try the problem against the latest kernel, which I am a tad reluctant to put onto my machine. I wanted to first research if any work has been done for z97 or xHCI on these newer kernels before I go through the risk of installing them on my machine. My suspicion, is that no work has been done in this area and that this bug is valid. USB 2.0 adapters are rapidly disappearing (just try ordering a USB2 PCIe adapter) meaning that xHCI support of USB1, USB2, etc. is becoming increasingly important. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1405907 Title: Z97 requires xHCI for USB2: IR remote unusable Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Ubuntu 14.10, kernel 3.17.0 I have an HP MCE IR remote receiver that will not work on my ASRock Z97 based system, whether plugged into USB2 or USB3 ports. When this happens I have to manually delete the keyboard using the gnome-gui and repeat the steps outlined above and at: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2101785. In looking for a bug report I found a number of reports on different versions of Ubuntu. I suspect it has been here for a while and most people give up trying to use bluetooth for a keyboard. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1219560 Title: Can't pair Logitech K810 using GUI Status in “bluez” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I cannot pair the Logitech K810 keyboard to my computer using the graphical interface provided by Ubuntu. Whenever I try I get two possibilities: 1. The GUI will show me a password, which I must type in the keyboard. After typing the password and pressing ENTER, the pairing will fail. 2. The GUI will hang for about a minute, and then fail to pair. The only way I can successfully pair the keyboard is by looking at the output of hcidump -at while attempting pairing, and finding a line of output displaying the password that I must type, then typing that in the keyboard. The procedure I follow for successful pairing can be seen in this URL: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1228381#p1228381 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 Package: bluez 4.101-0ubuntu8b1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.8.0-29.42-generic 3.8.13.5 Uname: Linux 3.8.0-29-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.9.2-0ubuntu8.3 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Sep 1 21:53:01 2013 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-08-28 (4 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail - Release amd64 (20130424) InterestingModules: rfcomm bnep btusb bluetooth MachineType: LENOVO 3444F9U MarkForUpload: True ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-29-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=5b0c5bf2-37c0-451d-92f0-fe37adfd382f ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: bluez UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 02/04/2013 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: G6ET93WW (2.53 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 3444F9U dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: Win8 Pro DPK TPG dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Not Available dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrG6ET93WW(2.53):bd02/04/2013:svnLENOVO:pn3444F9U:pvrThinkPadX1Carbon:rvnLENOVO:rn3444F9U:rvrWin8ProDPKTPG:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNotAvailable: dmi.product.name: 3444F9U dmi.product.version: ThinkPad X1 Carbon dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO hciconfig: hci0:Type: BR/EDR Bus: USB BD Address: F4:B7:E2:CD:AB:EE ACL MTU: 1021:8 SCO MTU: 64:1 UP RUNNING PSCAN RX bytes:591 acl:0 sco:0 events:38 errors:0 TX bytes:2162 acl:0 sco:0 commands:38 errors:0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluez/+bug/1219560/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages Post to : kernel-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~kernel-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
