Public bug reported:

I pulled updates very early this morning (Oct 15) and system was no
longer booting.

Turns out linux-firmware 1.7 (Oct 9) fails to boot on RX 7900 series:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-firmware/+bug/2038745

Fixed with linux-firmware 1.8 (Oct 10) and deployed to Jammy (Oct 12)
but it is Oct 15th and Lunar -updates is still serving 1.7, a broken
package that breaks boot for users??? How is this not critical?

Fixed by booting into recovery and manually applying the linux-firmware
1.8 deb in -proposed

** Affects: linux-firmware (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

** Tags: regression-update

** Summary changed:

- rollout 1.8 to Lunar or remove 1.7
