  I followed Patrik Jacobssons installation

  color decoding related to Gstreamer on my machine).

  It would be nice if this was part of the default installation in

  For as long as I keep the external monitor plugged-in the intermittent
  freezes and errors continue. In System Settings -> Displays clicking
  Detect Displays doesn't detect the external monitor.

  System recovers and acts normally when I unplug the external monitor.
  I had been using this monitor just fine daily for months with Natty
  and the nvidia proprietary drivers.

I guess you have ES8336

See https://github.com/thesofproject/linux/wiki/ES8336-support

there is a working setup now , but far away from OOTB support in Ubuntu

Title:
  Centrino Wireless-N 1030 randomly disconnecting

Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  1) The release of Ubuntu you are using:
  Description:  Linux Mint 17.1 Rebecca
  Release:  17.1

  Ubuntu version:
  Ubuntu 14.04

  2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname'
or by checking in Software Center
  Maybe linux-image, linux-firmware or network-manager.

  3) What you expected to happen
  Permanent wifi connection.

  4) What happened instead
  Wireless is disconnecting randomly.

  This wifi card was working for me with Ubuntu 12.04 for several years before
flawlessly.
  Now I installed Linux Mint based on Ubuntu 14.04 and it is now randomly
disconnecting.
  When it disconnects I disable wireless in the NM applet and enable it again
and wifi reconnects.
  Logs regarding the disconnect and the reconnect are attached to the report.

  The disconnect happens 10 to 60 minutes after it was connected or
  reconnected.

  The laptop I'm using is a Dell Inspiron N5110 which is officially supported
by Ubuntu:
  http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201012-6932/

  It seems that I'm not the only one with this issue:

Bug description:
  Not always reproductible :

  - Start Ubuntu on a laptop ( Clevo N240 here )

  - Close the lid while the video is playing

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1826844] Re: nvidia-drivers-* are not on the ISO

2019-05-30 Thread Michel-Ekimia
Just to say we'd love to see this in 18.04.3.

Today (like system76 ) we have to handle 2 iso because 18.04.2 iso will
not boot on nvidia hardware.

Fixing basic usage with nouveau could also be a solution, so user could
at least install ubuntu.

Title:
  Suspend hangs while playing internet video

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Not always reproductible :

  - Start Ubuntu on a laptop ( Clevo N240 here )
  - open youtube video in firefox
  - Close the lid while the video is playing
  - after few seconds , you hear a loop of the latest bit of sound and the pc
is crashed
  - You have to kill the PC to restart it.

  it seems not to be reproduced if you trigger the suspend manually
  without closing the lid

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1424293] Re: BYD trackpad detected as PS/2 mouse

2017-05-12 Thread Michel-Ekimia
Actually the factory is TopStar China and the model is U731.

As detection was disabled for good reason, the bast would be to have
some config files to force detection only on machines where the user
know that he needs this driver

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1554613] Re: Screen flickers on XPS 13 9350/9550 (Intel Skylake/Broadwell GPU)

I can happily confirm that this does not occur anymore on Ubuntu 16.04 (
kernel 4.4) .

Title:
  Screen flickers on XPS 13 9350/9550 (Intel Skylake/Broadwell GPU)

Status in Linux:
  Fix Released
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  *** Temporary workaround ***
  Install Kernel from the following location:
  - http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.6-yakkety/

  OR
  Perform the following:
  - $ apt-add-repository "deb
http://ppa.launchpad.net/canonical-kernel-team/ppa/ubuntu yakkety main"
  - $ echo -en "Package: *\nPin: release
o=LP-PPA-canonical-kernel-team-ppa\nPin-Priority: -1\n" >>
/etc/apt/preferences.d/canonical-kernel-team-ubuntu-ppa-yakkety
  - $ apt update
  - $ apt install linux-image-extra-4.6.0-6-generic
linux-headers-4.6.0-6-generic linux-tools-4.6.0-6-generic
  ```
  There was a typo in instructions (/etc/preferences.d should have been
/etc/apt/preferences.d).
  As result you might have upgraded Linux META packages and therefor you won't
receive proper upgrades of Xenial native Linux packages (hoping they will ever
contain the fix).
  I suggest you move
/etc/preferences.d/canonical-kernel-team-ubuntu-ppa-yakkety to
/etc/apt/preferences.d/ and downgrade related packages:
  $ apt update
  $ apt install linux-headers-generic/xenial-updates
linux-tools-generic/xenial-updates linux-image-generic/xenial-updates
  ```

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1424293] Re: BYD trackpad detected as PS/2 mouse

2016-12-25 Thread Michel-Ekimia
Just tested 4.8 on Ubuntu 16.04.2

Multitouch option is greyed out in setting and not working

dmesg seems to show that it is detected normally ( not the kind of
errors like martin )
