[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2052492] Re: Pairing: passcode dialogue disappears in <1 second

2024-02-05 Thread PaulSchulz
FIX (Maybe?)

I put the keyboard aside for (about) a week. During this time the laptop when
through a usual
'apt update/apt upgrade' process and reboot.

When I tried to subsequently re-pair the keyboard, the 'passcode dialog' stayed
visible,
and the keyboard paired.

Considerations:
- This laptop is not the fastest (i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz), and this time I
waited after
entering the passcode (and pressinbg enter) for the pairing to be successful.
This took maybe 5-10 sec. I may not have been as patient in the first case
and quit
the pairing dialog to try again.

- Deleting the detected entry for the keyboard in the Bluetooth list and
getting it
to be detected again, did not help.

** Description changed:

UPDATE: I am creating this bug in case it comes back again. My Fix was to put
the bluetooth keyboard
aside for a week (not use it), then reconnect after the laptop had been
rebooted after an update
  and daily use.

I will post the things that I tried, just in case:
    1) There is something I messed that someone else can suggest; and
    2) it occurs for someone else.

I suspect that it will happen again at some stage.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2052492] Re: Pairing: passcode dialogue disappears in <1 second

2024-02-05 Thread PaulSchulz
Some things that I have tried which didn't immediately fix the problem.

Resetting the bluez package did NOT fix the problem.
Removing the bluez package(s), removing /var/lib/bluetooth and re-installing.

  sudo apt remove --purge bluez
  rm -rf /var/lib/bluetooth
sudo apt install bluez gnome-bluetooth gnome-bluetooth-sendto

The bluetooth system needs to be started, and this empties the list of
discovered bluetoothe devices,
but the popup for the keyboard auth number still disappears quickly again.

  disappear too fast.

  If I do the following:

sudo hcitool cc 00:19:DB:0A:xx:yy && sudo hcitool auth

a notifier window will pop up for ~1 second and then disappear.

If I click on the notifier window fastest, the main passcode/pincode
entry dialogue will disappear. This also disappears within 1second.

The key seems to be that it is necessary to 'auth', click and
'pincode' within 1 second of a connection being made. This should
actually wait until the user is able to and none of the dialogue boxes
should cut-off early and disappear without warning.

Title:
Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard drop connections when Laptop using
  battery

Status in bluez package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard drop connections when Laptop using battery
(power discconnected).
Keyboard and mouse work correctly when laptop is powered by mains power.
  May be related to suspend/resume.

  Symptoms:
  - Mouse and keyboard don't work.
  - Mouse and keyboard bluetooth association cannot be removed rand e-connected.
  - Mouse and keyboard are detected (sometimes) with different device names.

The following does NOT fix the problem::
- Connect laptop power;
- In Bluetooth settings Turn Bluetooth off, then on again

Rebooting allows devices to be configured again, and connect
  correctly.

  Ubuntu version: Ubuntu 21.10
  Kernel: 5.13.0-39-generic
  Package:
bluez 5.60-0ubuntu2.2

When working the keyboard and mouse appear with:
  root@silver:/home/paul# bluetoothctl devices
Device D2:91:D2:B9:6B:9D Logi POP Keys
Device D1:8F:A4:4B:1B:F9 Logi POP Mouse

When not working, the devices show up as:
Device D2:91:D2:B9:6B:9D Logi POP @
Device D1:8F:A4:4B:1B:F9 Logi POP @

  This devices are:
  -
https://www.logitech.com/en-au/products/mice/pop-wireless-mouse.910-006515.html
  -
https://www.logitech.com/en-au/products/keyboards/pop-keys-wireless-mechanical.920-010578.html

I know that the devices both work with a Windows 10 desktop.

Bug description:
I've been running Ubuntu 14.10 on a Microsoft Surface Pro. After some
  initial problems (see
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1165938) (fixed
by kernel updates I guess) the wifi was working fine. Since the
upgrade to 15.04 the problems are back: I can connect to a wifi
network, the connection is working for a few seconds but drops right
after. I attached the relevant entries in dmes.log.

I tried installing the marvell firmware from git://git.marvell.com
/mwifiex-firmware.git, that didn't change anything. I also tried the
  mainline kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v4.1-rc1-vivid/: the connection is again working for a
few seconds but the whole system hangs afterwards.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1449438] Re: Marvell 88W8797 wifi (module mwifiex) does not work on Surface Pro

2019-04-23 Thread PaulSchulz
I am still seeing this issue (or a similar one) with 19.04.

My syslog looks similar to that shown in the following discussion:
https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-wireless/msg151492.html

(To progress, I'm looking at the following -
https://askubuntu.com/questions/515407/how-recipe-to-build-only-one-
kernel-module )

Title:
Marvell 88W8797 wifi (module mwifiex) does not work on Surface Pro

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete
