[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1975460] Re: iwlwifi cannot load firmware, wifi card does not work Intel Corporation Wireless 7260

2022-05-23 Thread SZ
I don't think it is a firmware file error, as when booting with 5.13 kernel
(left there from 20.04) it loads the same firmware file and wifi works.
With 5.15 kernel, it fails.

Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1975460] Re: ubuntu 22.04 kernel 5.15.0.x iwlwifi cannot load firmware, wifi card does not work: Intel Corporation Wireless 7260

2022-05-25 Thread SZ
Hi,

Thank you, I will soon try.
Although I see that the matching linux-modules*-extra*-5.15.xxx pkg not
available for download there...
Without the modules extra I will not have sound and other devices working.
Also I need the matching kernel-*headers* to build the nvidia module via
dkms.
Could you please post those 2 pkgs as well?
Thank you!

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1975460] Re: ubuntu 22.04 kernel 5.15.0.x iwlwifi cannot load firmware, wifi card does not work: Intel Corporation Wireless 7260

2022-05-25 Thread SZ
Hi, I booted the test kernel, but got no nvidia, so no X GUI.
I saved the dmesg file on the console.

I have attached the full dmesg output as text file.

iwlifi module loads and shows no error, but I could not test yet the
wifi network without gui.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1975460] Re: ubuntu 22.04 kernel 5.15.0.x iwlwifi cannot load firmware, wifi card does not work: Intel Corporation Wireless 7260

2022-05-31 Thread SZ
Hi, having a workaround where advanced linux expertise is required to do
is not an option for many novice users.

I see this older other bug :
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1634108
closed as fixed upstream.

I don't think that the best solution is to add kernel parameters.
The
linux-image-unsigned-5.15.0-051500-generic_5.15.0-051500.202110312130_amd64.deb
works, so that patch which is added into that one should come to an update ASAP.

Thank you!

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1975460] Re: ubuntu 22.04 kernel 5.15.0.x iwlwifi cannot load firmware, wifi card does not work: Intel Corporation Wireless 7260

2022-06-09 Thread SZ
OK, I have tried stock ubuntu kernel version 5.15.0-37-generic
With /etc/default/grub
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="verbose intel_iommu=off"

firmware loads, wifi works.

[ 15.752699] iwlwifi :3d:00.0: loaded firmware version 17.3216344376.0
7260-17.ucode op_mode iwlmvm
[ 15.867847] iwlwifi :3d:00.0: Detected Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless N
7260, REV=0x144
[ 16.102146] ieee80211 phy0: Selected rate control algorithm 'iwl-mvm-rs'
[ 16.104876] iwlwifi :3d:00.0 wlp61s0: renamed from wlan0

So yes, this is a workaround.
Maybe this should be set up by default in the kernel somehow.
Thanks

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1327741] Re: Kernel panic on driver rtl8821ae

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1341275 ***

Kernel panic in rtl8821ae on GB-BXi7-4470R

Title:
  Kernel panic on driver rtl8821ae

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Since kernel version 3.13.0-27, my Asus VM40B goes into kernel panic
during boot, seemingly due to an error with the WiFi driver,
rtl8821ae. The attached screenshot of the screen (I have no idea how
to otherwise capture the output of a kernel panic) shows the error
with kernel version 3.13.0-29, but it happens exactly the same with
  -27.

WORKAROUND: Disabling the WiFi card or using version 3.13.0-24 does
  not cause any problem.

Please bear in mind, while reading the generated report, that I have
disabled the WiFi card to be able to boot with kernel -29.

When attempting to clear NFS uid/gid cache I ran nfsidmap -c

  expected Result
no response, nfsidmap does not return anything if it completes properly
  example:

  [root@quebec ~]# nfsidmap -c
  [root@quebec ~]#

  What did happen

  root@u1404vm:~# nfsidmap -c
nfsidmap: fopen(/proc/keys) failed: No such file or directory

I checked /proc and the /proc/key-users file and the
  /proc/sys/kernel/keys directory were there.

I Looked up Kernel Key Management and saw that /proc/keys was needed
to hold the key pairs used by the kernel.

From Google'ng the following kernel option needs to be enabled

  CONFIG_KEYS_DEBUG_PROC_KEY

or /proc/keys does not get created.

I checked /boot/config-3.13.0-24-generic and that option is not
  enabled.

I checked this on both Centos 6.5/7 and Mageia and they are enabled
and /proc/keys exist, nfsidmap -c works.

Title:
  AER: Corrected error received: id=00e0

Status in Linux:
  Unknown
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released
Status in linux source package in Xenial:
  Triaged

Bug description:
Note: Current workaround is to add pci=noaer to your kernel command
  line:

  1) edit /etc/default/grub and and add pci=noaer to the line starting with
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT. It will look like this:
  GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pci=noaer"
  2) run "sudo update-grub"
  3) reboot

My dmesg gets completely spammed with the following messages appearing
over and over again. It stops after one s3 cycle; it only happens
  after reboot.
