[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1975460] Re: iwlwifi cannot load firmware, wifi card does not work Intel Corporation Wireless 7260
I don't think it is a firmware file error, as when booting with 5.13 kernel (left there from 20.04) it loads the same firmware file and wifi works. With 5.15 kernel, it fails. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux-firmware in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1975460 Title: iwlwifi cannot load firmware, wifi card does not work Intel Corporation Wireless 7260 Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in linux-firmware package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: With ubuntu 20.04, it worked. After upgrading to 22.04, stopped working. I have 2 pcs. of HP zbook G2, they both have the same error after upgrade. Can't work!! Booting back to old linux kernel 5.13.x wifi works again! No windows installed, not a dual boot. I have other older hp laptop which has a different wifi card, that works well with the new kernel. Please fix this bug. Thank you! Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1975460] Re: ubuntu 22.04 kernel 5.15.0.x iwlwifi cannot load firmware, wifi card does not work: Intel Corporation Wireless 7260
Hi, Thank you, I will soon try. Although I see that the matching linux-modules*-extra*-5.15.xxx pkg not available for download there... Without the modules extra I will not have sound and other devices working. Also I need the matching kernel-*headers* to build the nvidia module via dkms. Could you please post those 2 pkgs as well? [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1975460] Re: ubuntu 22.04 kernel 5.15.0.x iwlwifi cannot load firmware, wifi card does not work: Intel Corporation Wireless 7260
Hi, I booted the test kernel, but got no nvidia, so no X GUI. I saved the dmesg file on the console. I have attached the full dmesg output as text file. iwlifi module loads and shows no error, but I could not test yet the wifi network without gui. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1975460] Re: ubuntu 22.04 kernel 5.15.0.x iwlwifi cannot load firmware, wifi card does not work: Intel Corporation Wireless 7260
Hi, having a workaround where advanced linux expertise is required to do is not an option for many novice users. I see this older other bug : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1634108 closed as fixed upstream. I don't think that the best solution is to add kernel parameters. The linux-image-unsigned-5.15.0-051500-generic_5.15.0-051500.202110312130_amd64.deb works, so that patch which is added into that one should come to an update ASAP. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1327741] Re: Kernel panic on driver rtl8821ae
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1341275 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1341275 ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1341275 Kernel panic in rtl8821ae on GB-BXi7-4470R -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1327741 Title: Kernel panic on driver rtl8821ae Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Since kernel version 3.13.0-27, my Asus VM40B goes into kernel panic during boot, seemingly due to an error with the WiFi driver, rtl8821ae. The attached screenshot of the screen (I have no idea how to otherwise capture the output of a kernel panic) shows the error with kernel version 3.13.0-29, but it happens exactly the same with -27. WORKAROUND: Disabling the WiFi card or using version 3.13.0-24 does not cause any problem. Please bear in mind, while reading the generated report, that I have disabled the WiFi card to be able to boot with kernel -29. I Looked up Kernel Key Management and saw that /proc/keys was needed to hold the key pairs used by the kernel. From Google'ng the following kernel option needs to be enabled CONFIG_KEYS_DEBUG_PROC_KEY or /proc/keys does not get created. I checked /boot/config-3.13.0-24-generic and that option is not enabled.
