[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2006942] Re: With linux kernel 5.19.0-31 amd_pstate is not used, while with 5.19.0-29 and lower does

2023-02-24 Thread Vassilis Aretakis
Isn't it strange to change behaviour on a Kernel, especially amd_pstate
which is not loaded anymore. BUT intel_pstate is still.

shouldn't on a patch not to change this? it is really. Bad, how many
users will suffer with their laptops, not understanding what is causing
their battery drains.

Bug description:
After upgrading to 5.19.0-31 (two of my systems) CPU driver changes to
  acpi-cpufreq. instead of amd_pstate.

This causes cpu to keep higher frequency and increased consumption.

Now when I boot with /proc/cmdline:

There is no governor working with the kernel..

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 2006942] [NEW] With linux kernel 5.19.0-31 amd_pstate is not used, while with 5.19.0-29 and lower does

2023-02-10 Thread Vassilis Aretakis
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to 5.19.0-31 (two of my systems) CPU driver changes to
acpi-cpufreq. instead of amd_pstate.

This causes cpu to keep higher frequency and increased consumption.
