[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1249765] Re: 8086:4222 [Acer Aspire 5670] iwl3945 resets wireless connection frequently
hi Christopher, I've tried following the wiki instructions for using ndiswrapper , from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/Ndiswrapper but I'm not sure if I'm loading the driver correctly. when i run sudo depmod -a sudo modprobe ndiswrapper I dont seem to have the driver working. I'm not sure if the driver even loads. so I tried rebooting. 1) With the latest driver from Acer website for my laptop, the system does not reboot into Ubuntu if the driver is loaded. i have to boot into a different kernel , remove the driver and only then can i boot ubuntu into that particular kernel. 2) The wireless connection works without problems when I boot into windows xp. So i figured that this would be the best driver to use. I tried finding the driver from the windows Xp boot, but I was only able to find the .sys file and .dll, but could not find the .inf file in the windows partition. any ideas as to where i could find the .inf file? 3) Now the system does not load iwl3945 module every time i boot up the laptop.i manually have to run $ sudo modprobe iwl3945 each time. I tried commenting out the blacklist of the iwl3945 module also removing the blacklist which i had to do during the ndiswrapper instructions, but that did not help. How do I make sure that the iwl3945 module loads automatically? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1249765 Title: 8086:4222 [Acer Aspire 5670] iwl3945 resets wireless connection frequently Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: The wireless connection keeps getting reset and it has become difficult to Skype or to watch streaming video from certain sites(comdey central or Hulu). i do not have this issue ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/406060 Title: 8086:4222 [iwl3945] Wifi doesnt remember previous session state Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: In Karmic , up-to-date as of today. [2.6.31-4-generic] The wireless doesnt remember the state of the previous session. Ideally: the wireless state of the previous session needs to be used on the next boot. In intrepid and earlier too this problem existed , but i was able to set the state to always on by adding these lines to the /etc/modprobe.d/options file. options iwl3945 disable=0 options acer-wmi wireless=1 This caused the wireless to be started at every boot without having to use the killswitch. When the system was upgraded to Jaunty the /etc/modprobe.d/options file just remained as a backup [options.dpkg-bak] and the settings where moved elsewhere[not sure where!] But the wireless did auto-start and i did not have to use the killswitch. to enable it. In karmic since i did a fresh install , i'm not able to add the option in the /etc/modprobe.d/.conf file , any setting i set doesnt get used, I'v also tried adding the $rfkill unblock wificommand in the rc.local , but with no effect. --- AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. Christopher M. Penalver , this bug still exists. Using: Linux lapi 3.0.0-12-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 7 14:56:25 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I got these errors after updating to 11.10. Sound is also flaky.
