*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 2017929 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2017929

** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 2017929
Kernel 5.15.0-71 fails to boot on Ubuntu 22.04 (possibly specific to Ryzen
APUs)

** Description changed:

Less than one week ago, I suddenly has a issue with GRUB (kernel
5.15.0.71-generic). My English translation: Impossible to allocate the
kernel's buffer (cannot allocate kernel buffer), french: 'erreur :
impossible d'allouer le tampom du noyau').

I can only run Ubuntu (from the Advanced line of GRUB) with the previous
kernel (5.15.0.70-generic). I don't remember any special change nor
  installation on my OS.
+
+ CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3400G.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1981590] Re: Kernel 5.15 hangs at "Loading initial ramdisk"

2023-05-03 Thread Yosha872
Same issue here. Suddenly my OS (Xubuntu 22.04) shows this issue (Kernel:
5.15.0-71-generic).
But when I boot with the previous version (5.15.0-70-generic) it is OK (!).

Note: my computer boot mode is set to Legacy (not UEFI). Motherboard:
'ASRock A320M-HDV R4.0' (BIOS v4.00).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1760539] Re: QCA9377 WIFI does not work full speed - runs at lowest bitrate 1Mp/s (1Mb/s)

2023-04-06 Thread Yosha872
Same issue on Ubuntu 22.04.2 (kernel 5.19.0-38-generic).

However, this is NOT the real speed of my WI-FI. This is visible by
doing a speedtest with a ISP (I get 57 Mb/s, fiber), or from terminal by
typing 'iwlconfig'.

Example on my laptop Acer E5-575G:

wlp3s0IEEE 802.11 ESSID:"TP-Link_"
  Mode:Managed Frequency:2.417 GHz Access Point: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:X
  Bit Rate=1 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm
  Retry short limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
  Power Management:on
  Link Quality=47/70 Signal level=-63 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
  Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:59 Missed beacon:0

2023-01-10 Thread Yosha872
Also concerns a Acer Aspire Switch 10E SW3-013, with Lubuntu 22.04
(kernel 5.15).

Title:
bytcr_rt5640 sound not working with kernel >= 5.13

Status in linux-meta-hwe-5.13 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in linux-meta-hwe-5.15 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Using the built in speakers on a Linx 1010b. The 5.11 kernel works
fine, but 5.13 and 5.14 fail.

The card, when working is seen in alsa-info as bytcrrt5640,bytcr-
rt5640, whereas in the later (hwe-20.04-edge, oem-20.04d) kernels
where it fails, it is seen as "rt5640,sof-bytcht rt5640"

When failing, speaker-test, spd-say, and most other sound sources seem
to get 'sunk', and the level meter on the pulse mixer shows activity.
FWIW "espeak-ng hello" blocks on the broken setup.

I confess I'm not actually using the linux-meta-hwe-5.13 as it is
unavailable in LinuxMint. I am using linux-generic-hwe-20.04-edge,
which AFAICT pulls in the same kernels. apt policy pointed me to
  report here.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1743091] Re: Xubuntu 17.10 (32 bits)

2018-03-26 Thread Yosha872
Oops, I wrote a mistake: v4.10.0-42 is not more recent than v4.13.0-21
So I decided to take time to test your kernel.

For my first time I upgraded the kernel 'manually': v4.15-rc8 from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.15-rc8/

After booting (and the GRUB menu) I get a reboot before 2 seconds (after
GRUB, on the next screen I only see the 2nd text line then the computer
reboot).

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1743091] Re: Xubuntu 17.10 (32 bits)

2018-03-26 Thread Yosha872
Sorry I have not tested the new kernel because I fixed the issue on 5th feb
2018 this way: "How I have get out the issue : by restoring the previous Linux
Kernel (from the GRUB menu)."
Then the Ubuntu auto-update system did some upgrades, and all is working fine
since then:
uname -a
Linux HP-Compaq-6730s 4.13.0-21-generic #24-Ubuntu SMP Mon Dec 18 17:29:35 UTC
2017 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

Today I use a more recent kernel and booting is OK too:
Linux HP-Compaq-6730s 4.10.0-42-generic #46-Ubuntu SMP Mon Dec 4 14:36:05 UTC
2017 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux

Perhaps the issue was related to some error on the storage (it's a old
32 GB SSD, that is OK according to the SMART values).

I am sorry to have not tested the v4.15 kernel[0], this is because I
have access to this computer only every 3 or 6 months. If this is still
useful I may do the test in the next 6 months.
