[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1878946] Re: Cannot install proprietary NVIDIA driver

2021-08-16 Thread Zero
This bug is not limited to just Kubuntu. I am chiming in as a Xubuntu
20.04.2 user. The driver I attempt to install from Driver Manager is
340.108. The results are identical to what is being reported here. And
this bug affects ALL of my machines running v20.04. My Asus laptop with
hybrid Nvidia GT218, my desktop with PNY GeForce 210, my i7 desktop with
GT750, and others. So please count this as three reports, not just one.

The only common denominator is v20.04 of the Ubuntu base OS. And FWIW, I
am not a fan of Mint but it does not suffer from this bug.

Title:
  Cannot install proprietary NVIDIA driver

Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-440 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  1) Distro: Kubuntu 20.04

  2) Package version: nvidia-driver-440 version
  "440.82+really.440.64-0ubuntu6"

I have started the driver management from system settings, selected
"Using NVIDIA driver metapackage from nvidia-driver-440 (proprietary,
  tested).

  3) What I expected to happen: The proprietary driver should be
installed. OpenCL should work (e.g. for darktable).

  4) What happened instead: An error window pops up. Title: "Error wh...
changes", content: "pk-client-error-quark: Error while installing package:
>>neues libnidia-gl-440 (313)".
The additional drivers selector still shows "Using X.ORg X server - Nouveau
display driver from xserver-xorg-nouveau (open source)", although this package
is NOT installed.
Checking with muon, it shows that some nvidia 440 related packages have been
installed, but nvidia-driver-440 is shown with status 'corrupt' ('Defekt' in
German). The packages libnvidia-ifr1-440 and libnvidia-ifr1-440 are also shown
with status 'corrupt'.
Discover offers 'libnvidia-gl-440 version 440.82+really.440.64-0ubuntu6', but
that cannot be installed.

Trying to clear up the situation on the commandline results in:

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1879124] Re: 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)

2020-05-17 Thread Pi Zero
Hey Chris, of course.

I plugged in the USB Dongle CSR 4.0, attempted to scan my BT device,
unfortunately my usb device was not recognized. I also wanted to use
Wireshark with this dongle, but it was not detected as well.

I am able to use this device on Ubuntu 18.04 and scan my BT devices.

here is a description of

Title:
  Bluetooth not working

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress
Status in linux source package in Bionic:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
  == SRU Justification ==
A regression was discovered in Bionic. The regression was introduced by
mainline commit f44cb4b19ed4, which then made it's way into Bionic in
4.15.0-14 as commit c91729972ac6 via stable updates.

This regression is fixed by mainline commit 803cdb8ce584. Commit
803cdb8ce584 was also cc'd to stable. However, it has not landed in
  upstream stable 4.15 or Bionic.

  == Fix ==
803cdb8ce584 ("Bluetooth: btusb: Apply QCA Rome patches for some ATH3012
models")

  == Regression Potential ==
Low. This fix has also been cc'd to upstream stable, so it has had
  additonal upstream review.

  == Test Case ==
A test kernel was built with this patch and tested by the original bug
reporter.
The bug reporter states the test kernel resolved the bug.

Not sure if this is the same problem. Everything was working perfectly
until the massive update that came out last night. Now cannot find
internal Atheros BT adapter in Blueman-applet. It appears to allow me to
enable BT. Lights on but no one home. Linux firmware looks borked.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1510660] Re: Screen icons and text corrupted after 15.10 upgrade

2016-01-27 Thread Zero
I had this problem as well, starting with the welcome screens during the
install. I believe it is something wrong in the Xorg video driver. My
video card is a Maxwell based nVidia GTX 750 Ti. Despite the menus being
almost completely illegible, I was able to navigate to the Settings
Manager / Additional Drivers and install the nVidia proprietary driver
352.63.

Xorg driver is to blame.

Title:
Screen icons and text corrupted after 15.10 upgrade

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Since upgrading to 15.10 I am having trouble with most of the desktop
and other icons and some text. The problem seems to be that the screen
painting lines are out of synch.

This means that most of the icons on the desktop are almost unreadable
and spread laterally. Also PDF documents are unreadable. The raster
graphics that I have imported into Inkscape are unusable.

I am using a Dell Vostro 220 and Dell screens. The affect is the same
whether I use a wide screen or a more conventional profile.
