[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1749961] Re: xhci_hcd: TRB DMA errors reported with ASMedia ASM1142 USB 3.1 Controller
I'm also getting the above errors when trying to read from a 1080p60 USB3 webcam. It seems I have some information not mentioned above. [8.822044] usb 4-2: new SuperSpeed Gen 1 USB device number 2 using xhci_hcd [8.851879] usb 4-2: New USB device found, idVendor=15aa, idProduct=1555, bcdDevice=10.02 [8.851883] usb 4-2: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 [8.851886] usb 4-2: Product: 3.0 USB Camera When opening /dev/video0 with an application, I immediatelly get the following error repeatedly (but event-dma increments by 0x10 each line), as seems to be the case for everyone. [ 54.007465] xhci_hcd :01:00.0: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 13 [ 54.010154] xhci_hcd :01:00.0: Looking for event-dma 000849690010 trb-start 00084969 trb-end 00084969 seg-start 00084969 seg-end 000849690ff0 I added some previously posted diagnostic code from Mathias Nyman to drivers/usb/host/xhci-ring.c, and got the following, which is similar to previously reported bug with some ASMedia chip, but seems to be missing transfer events much more frequently. It seems to be missing a "Transfer Event" after each "Normal" packet. It's not about the LINK TRB because it doesn't work for long enough to get to it (there's plenty of zeroed out descriptors at the end of both rings, which I've omitted). This is likely an ASMedia firmware/hardware issue, though this card (& camera) works fine on the same machine when running Windows. I saw mentions that ASMedia would be releasing a firmware fix, but I've updated to what I believe to be the latest and it didn't help at all. Has anyone found a firmware that works? Attached dmesg also contains the event & endpoint ring dumps ** Attachment added: "asm1142-trace.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1749961/+attachment/5345871/+files/asm1142-trace.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1749961 Title: xhci_hcd: TRB DMA errors reported with ASMedia ASM1142 USB 3.1 Controller Status in linux package in Ubuntu: In Progress Status in linux source package in Trusty: In Progress Status in linux source package in Xenial: In Progress Status in linux source package in Artful: Won't Fix Status in linux source package in Bionic: In Progress Status in linux package in Debian: Confirmed Bug description: It was observed that while trying to use a 4K USB webcam connected to USB port provided by ASMedia ASM1142 USB 3.1 Controller, the webcam does not work and kernel log shows the following messages: [431.928016] xhci_hcd :12:00.0: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 13 [431.928021] xhci_hcd :12:00.0: Looking for event-dma 003f3330e020 trb-start 003f3330e000 trb-end 003f3330e000 seg-start 003f3330e000 seg-end 003f3330eff0 [431.928024] xhci_hcd :12:00.0: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 13 [431.928026] xhci_hcd :12:00.0: Looking for event-dma 003f3330e030 trb-start 003f3330e000 trb-end 003f3330e000 seg-start 003f3330e000 seg-end 003f3330eff0 [431.928027] xhci_hcd :12:00.0: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 13 [431.928029] xhci_hcd :12:00.0: Looking for event-dma 003f3330e050 trb-start 003f3330e000 trb-end 003f3330e000 seg-start 003f3330e000 seg-end 003f3330eff0 [431.928386] xhci_hcd :12:00.0: ERROR Transfer event TRB DMA ptr not part of current TD ep_index 2 comp_code 13 A similar issue was already reported on Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1667750 The fix to this issue seems to be the following patch: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=9da5a109 Tests in our scenario with this patch proved still broken. Meanwhile i had installed flymeOS back to my second Pro5 and flymeOS can receive and send phonecalls nice and clear so this is for sure an ubuntu issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1590844 Title: Call with Bluetooth headset not working [Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition] Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in turbo: Confirmed Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in telephony-service package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: My bluetooth headset perfectly connects to my Meizu Pro 5. OTA14 does not changed anything here. I can also upload videos to show the different behaviors on MX4 and Pro5. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1590844] Re: Bluetooth headset not working with Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition
I just wanted to say that i can confirm that issue on the Pro5. I have two Pro5 and also a MX4. The MX4 works fine in my car when connected to the bluetooth (well except that sometimes the mic gets muted for whatever reason) Both Pro5 instead cant be used for telephoning in the car by connected through BT. You can only hear soughing instead of the participant so its not useable. As this bug is on critical anyway i dont need to state again that this is a major one. If i can do anything to help you guys please let me know, like i said i have a working BT on MX4 and soughing BT on both Pro5. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bluez in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1590844 Title: Bluetooth headset not working with Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in turbo: Confirmed Status in bluez package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: My bluetooth headset perfectly connects to my Meizu Pro 5. You seem to have responded to an old, closed bug that's unrelated to your problem. You're much more likely to find help if you bring this up on the forums or (if you can debug this further than it doesn't work) file a new bug report about your audio ordeals. Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1040557] Re: UEFI boot live-usb bricks SAMSUNG 530U3C, np700z5c laptop
Blacklisting the samsung-laptop module in UEFI mode fixes the related but separate issue of the kernel crashing on bootup. The root cause of the bricking was that Samsung's firmware had an undocumented requirement of 5KB of free UEFI variable space to be able to start up. The kernel crash would cause a log dump, which could cause the variable store to be filled beyond this limit. (Matthew Garrett provided a more detailed report in his blog last year: http://mjg59.dreamwidth.org/25091.html ) Handling of UEFI variables was changed in the kernel (in Ubuntu 13.10 and newer), and Samsung supposedly made fixes to their firmware, so the bricking issue is fixed. As far as this bug is concerned, the installation procedure is to update your firmware to the newest version and then install Ubuntu as usual. Driver support for particular laptop models should probably be addressed in separate bug reports. Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1040557] Re: UEFI boot live-usb bricks SAMSUNG 530U3C, np700z5c laptop
No. Despite not directly causing the bricking, the samsung-laptop driver will only work in CMS mode and will cause random and potentially very bad problems when running under UEFI. The driver support issue is separate from this bug.
