Title:
During boot process, system goes to sleep

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After upgrading to 16.04, my computer goes to sleep during the boot process,
shortly after I entered the passphrase to unlock my LVM. When I wake it up, I’m
at the graphical login prompt. I type my user password, press enter and it goes
to sleep again. When I wake it up, I’m in my working Lubuntu desktop. This
happens every time I boot. And it’s quite annoying.
Please tell me which additional information I can provide to help fix this

No, suspending the laptop doesn’t work when set to open or ignore. The
screen locks but the system doesn’t suspend.

The system goes to sleep before even getting to the login prompt. So it
can’t be a corrupted profile, can it?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1626689] Re: During boot process, system goes to sleep

2018-03-25 Thread flrtx
I now tried the kernel parameters. 'button.lid_init_state' works around the bug
when set to 'open' or 'ignore'. The system boots without going to sleep. When I
set it to 'method', the system doesn't boot at all.
Does that help to track down the source of the bug?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1626689] Re: During boot process, system goes to sleep

2017-05-20 Thread flrtx
I only have 4.10.0-20 and 4.8.0-20. I tried them both. It’s the same.

I also tried booting in upstart mode (since I was in the Grub prompt).
The boot process works better, the system doesn’t go to sleep during
boot. However, the GUI doesn’t load and I only have a console, which I
can’t even use to shut the computer down ('failed to talk to init
service'). But still, is this an indication my problem has to do with
systemd?

2016-10-29 Thread flrtx
Thanks for your advice, Joseph.

I installed kernel v4.4.28 and booted using this kernel. Unfortunatelly,
the bug is still there.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1548850] Re: Suspend-Resume freezes the computer completely

2016-06-19 Thread flrtx
Thanks, Christopher, for advising the BIOS update.

However, it didn’t improve the situation. The system is still completely
frozen when I reopen the display.

The output of 'sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s
bios-release-date' is the following:
F.39
05/26/2015

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1529685] Re: Suspend-Resume freezes the system completely

2016-01-05 Thread flrtx
Testing the latest kernel will take me some time because I have never
done this before. But I’ll look into it.

So far, I can already tell you, I have this problem ever since using
this machine. September or october 2015 that is. It didn’t break with an
upgrade.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1529685] [NEW] Suspend-Resume freezes the system completely

2015-12-28 Thread flrtx
Public bug reported:

On a HP 250 G3, if I suspend the system, I can’t resume it. If I try, the
screen is stuck to whatever was shown last. This seems not to be related to my
graphical system, since the problem is the same, when I’m performing "suspend"
in the Ctrl+Alt+F1 terminal (closing the display).
What else can I provide to help you?

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1155972] Re: [Acer AOD270] Suspend-Resume gives me colored but useless screen

2014-01-05 Thread flrtx
This bug has been fixed meanwhile and I completely forgot reporting
about it. I now can’t tell you which kernel version fixed the issue.
Sorry.

Title:
[Acer AOD270] Suspend-Resume gives me colored but useless screen

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I used to use suspend (to RAM) a lot on my netbook but since upgrading to
12.10 it's broken. Suspending seems to work fine, but when I try to resume the
machine, I get a colored screen and a big square instead of my mouse pointer. I
can move this square around the whole screen, but apart from that, I can't do
anything graphically. No login prompt appears as it used to. I finally managed
to report this bug since it annoys me so much.
The only thing I can do, is switching to tty1 and login in on the command
line. While I can reboot the system from there, it doesn't help me much since
suspending the computer is still useless. It even takes longer than a normal
rebbot.
How can I help you to track down the problem?
