[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1634681] Re: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 30) works only partially

2016-11-17 Thread mrl586
It seems that only up-to-date router hardware and/or software are
supported not any older router hardware or software.

Example: WPA2 connection to Android 5.1.1 wifi hotpoint works normally.
But handshake with Android 4.2.2 device is always unsuccessful with
QCA9377 chip.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1531105] Re: [Lenovo Ideapad S205] suspend/resume failure

2016-09-18 Thread mrl586
I have Manjaro currently installed on that laptop and it works normally
with kernel 4.4.21. Manjaro comes with tlp by default. There aren't tlp
installed on *ubuntu/debian by default but if I install tlp, those
Debian-based distribution start working normally.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1531105] Re: [LENOVO Brazos] suspend/resume failure

2016-01-10 Thread mrl586
According to my test results both 3.14 (3.14.58) and 3.15 (3.15.10) are
good kernel branch. I think that problem is somewhere in 3.16 kernel
branch. With kernels 3.16rc1 and 3.16rc2 I can see only blinking cursor,
but it seems that resuming from suspend mode working with those kernels.
Kernel between 3.16rc3 and 3.16rc6 seems broken and I could not boot
those kernel. I can reproduce this bug with kernel 3.16rc7, so it is bad
kernel.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1531105] Re: [LENOVO Brazos] suspend/resume failure

2016-01-07 Thread mrl586
Should we enable thinkpad_acpi kernel module with this laptop? According
to attached files it is not enabled. I know that this laptop is not real
thinkpad, but maybe this kernel module will change situation in some
way.

2015-11-01 Thread mrl586
Maybe we should offer those optional firmware files for Ubuntu users.

  Further digging found bug 1183777

As mentioned in that bug, I did contact the named person:

  "Hi,

I'm still seeing the errors for
  KAVERI firmwares
being missing in the latest kernel :
  phillw@piglet:~$ uname -a
  Linux piglet 3.11.0-3-generic #8-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug 23 16:49:15 UTC 2013
  x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
As the 1st Beta is creeping up fast, do you need this raising as a new
  bug?
  Regards,
  Phill."

  The reply is:

"As far as I can tell, the KAVERI firmware (and hardware) is not
publicly available yet, so that's not a bug with the linux-firmware
package. If you want to file a new bug about the warning messages,
please file it against the linux (kernel) package. Until the firmware
is available, I'm not really sure what the fix for that would be,
other than removing/commenting out the relevant Kaveri lines in the
  radeon kernel code."
