Christopher, yes, I did remove the non-default kernel boot parameter and testing the kernel since then. Thanks @Joseph Salisbury 1. Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem? - No. My laptop is new. I installed Ubuntu and problem started. 2. I will test the latest upstream karnel and I will let you know. I have check the settings because I changed the settings suggested in this link and my pc is running well since then. But I will change the settings again and test the new karnel.J 3. Now the new question comes to my mind - why my karnel is not getting auto updated when I run "update" to 4.5 (assuming its latest). I am still at 4.2 -generic?
