[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1445458] Re: BCM4360 bcmwl-kernel-source System Freeze every few Seconds
Finally some good news. Broadcom seems to have fixed the Freeze bug in their latest driver version 6.30.223.271. Unfortunately, there's no Ubuntu package yet, but there's a Debian package. You just have to purge and hide bcmwl-kernel-source for good in synaptic or via dpkg or apt and install broadcom-sta-dkms. # sudo apt-get install broadcom-sta-dkms Works perfectly on Ubuntu 16.04 amd64 with Kernel 4.4.0-24-generic and broadcom-sta-dkms (6.30.223.271) The only nuisance is that with every Kernel Update you'll have to reinstall broadcom-sta-dkms for the new kernel. We will just have to wait until Ubuntu uses the Broadcom 6.30.223.271 driver in bcmwl-kernel- source ... So for now it's finally fixed!!! ** Changed in: bcmwl (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bcmwl in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1445458 Title: BCM4360 bcmwl-kernel-source System Freeze every few Seconds Status in bcmwl package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Bug description: Every newer version of bcmwl-kernel-source than 6.30.223.141+bdcom- 0ubuntu2 causes complete Freezes on my System every few Seconds. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1445458] Re: BCM4360 bcmwl-kernel-source System Freeze every few Seconds
Still no change sadly. I just did a dist upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04. Still the same, 6.30.223.248 installs fine, but as soon as the wl module is loaded, the freezes come back. But now I really have a Problem - I can't install the last working version (6.30.223.141+bdcom-0ubuntu2) on 16.04 and the 4.4.0-24-generic Kernel. I can't even build it from the Source. I've given up on Broadcom ever fixing this bug. If some of you know to build a deb for Ubuntu 16.04 amd64 and 4.4.0-24-generic for bcmwl- kernel-source 6.30.223.141, please let me know. Or if you manage to build/make it from the source successfully or find that version somewhere to download. As is it is now, I'll have to use an old usb dongle/card to get wireless on Ubunut 16.04 x64. ** Changed in: bcmwl (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => truthy (martin-rudhart) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to bcmwl in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1445458 Title: BCM4360 bcmwl-kernel-source System Freeze every few Seconds Status in bcmwl package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Every newer version of bcmwl-kernel-source than 6.30.223.141+bdcom- 0ubuntu2 causes complete Freezes on my System every few Seconds. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1445458] Re: BCM4360 bcmwl-kernel-source System Freeze every few Seconds
Thx, good to know that it's not just me. I've read there are the same issues with that chipset/driver on other Linux Distros (ArchLinux). As it's a proprietary driver adressing this issue might take some time. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1319443] Re: 046d:082d Logitech c920 usb webcam not working when plugged into USB 3.0 port
I've been asked to enable xhci dynamic debugging (xhci_hcd) with the latest mainline kernel to provide better information about the problem. Can you please tell how to do that - which console command I'd have to input or which files I'd have to alter - I can't seem to get it - googled around a bit. And after enabling it - they would need the output of grepping xhci and/or usb from kern.log right? ** Tags removed: kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.15-rc7 ** Tags added: kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.15-rc8 ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1319443 Title: 046d:082d Logitech c920 usb webcam not working when plugged into USB 3.0 port Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: My logitech c920 usb webcam doesn't work when connected to my usb 3.0 host controller (Etron EJ168a).When i connect my usb 3.0 stick to the same port it's recognized and also works - just not the webcam. disabling usb 3.0 legacy mode (xhci) in my bios doesn't change anything, it's still used instead of ehci. Thank you for responding. Once again I'm sorry for bothering you again/reopening the Bugreport. As it's the 1st time I ever reported any bug - especially a kernel/upstream-bug - I hope you/they will be lenient and forgive my breach of etiquette, format and whatever else I broke ... I submitted a at least partly (logs in message-body) conform Bugreport at the Linux-USB-Mailing list in addition to my respose now. (in the spirit of 'better late than never') If there'r any changes or if it will be fixed in a future upstream kernel I'll update the Bugreport at Launchpad accordingly. ** Description changed: My logitech c920 usb webcam doesn't work when connected to my usb 3.0 host controller (Etron EJ168a).When i connect my usb 3.0 stick to the same port it's recognized and also works - just not the webcam. disabling usb 3.0 legacy mode (xhci) in my bios doesn't change anything, it's still used instead of ehci. - Upstream URL http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-usb/msg108362.html . + Upstream URL http://marc.info/?l=linux-usbm=140014102231172w=2 . dmesg | grep usb usb 3-1: Not enough bandwidth for altsetting 3 3:3:3: usb_set_interface failed (-22) dmesg | grep xhci xhci_hcd :06:00.0: ERROR: unexpected command completion code 0x11. as I found neither 'xhci' nor 'usb' in the changelog I doubt it would work, but I'm gonna test it later today. I already provided the information upstream requested in my reply to the mailing list (see spinics/marc links above) with an external link as it's too long to be put into the mail itself: http://pastebin.com/CFCqqfDG it's also uploaded here since 2014-05-15: https://launchpadlibrarian.net/175640585/logitch.c920.lsusb.verbose.txt I think my email-reply to the mailing list was messed up/wrong somehow as it's not the 3rd thread it should be. at least not at spinics, at marc.info it is. as I was subscribed to the mailing list at the time and received it myself, I at least know that sort of worked. ... did you receive the email I sent to your gmail address today, or was it blocked? sry in advance if that's not proper procedure. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1319443 Title: 046d:082d Logitech c920 usb webcam not working when plugged into USB 3.0 port Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: My logitech c920 usb webcam doesn't work when connected to my usb 3.0 host controller (Etron EJ168a).When i connect my usb 3.0 stick to the same port it's recognized and also works - just not the webcam. disabling usb 3.0 legacy mode (xhci) in my bios doesn't change anything, it's still used instead of ehci.
