[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1181144] Re: [Dell XPS 13 (L322X)] Sometime system will stuck on waking up from Hibernate
Po-Hsu Lin, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.13 to 4.0-rc4 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Thank you for your understanding. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1181144] Re: [Dell XPS 13 (L322X)] Sometime system will stuck on waking up from Hibernate
Po-Hsu Lin, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-3.XY-rcZ Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.XY-rcZ Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Tags removed: bios-outdated-a10 ** Tags added: latest-bios-a10 ** Attachment removed: pm-suspend.log https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1181144/+attachment/3803763/+files/pm-suspend.log ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Low = Medium ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181144 Title: [Dell XPS 13 (L322X)] Sometime system will stuck on waking up from Hibernate Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: CID: 201209-11840 Dell XPS 13 (L322X) Sometimes hibernate will work on this system, sometimes not. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1181144] Re: [Dell XPS 13 (L322X)] Sometime system will stuck on waking up from Hibernate
Verified with 3.13.0-34, BIOS A10 in UEFI mode, it's still happening. Command for testing: sudo fwts -P s4 fwts version 15.03 If you let the system wake itself up, the system will stuck and the display will garbled (picture attached here) on resuming from hibernate. However, if you wake it up manually by pressing the power button, it works fine. And if you let it wake itself up for second cycle, it's still working. ** Attachment added: IMG_0591.JPG https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1181144/+attachment/4347599/+files/IMG_0591.JPG -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181144 Title: [Dell XPS 13 (L322X)] Sometime system will stuck on waking up from Hibernate Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: CID: 201209-11840 Dell XPS 13 (L322X) Sometimes hibernate will work on this system, sometimes not. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1181144] Re: [Dell XPS 13 (L322X)] Sometime system will stuck on waking up from Hibernate
Po-Hsu Lin, as per http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/xps-13-l321x-mlk an update is available for your BIOS (A10). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1181144] Re: [Dell XPS 13 (L322X)] Sometime system will stuck on waking up from Hibernate
More info I fresh installed my l322x with 64bit raring in BIOS mode and then made some customisations. Later I found hibernation/thaw was weird. Later I removed the noatime options from fstab and found hibernation/thaw worked finer. I had added the noatime options myself (this is not default) Maybe hibernation/thaw requires access time to files are available and accurate... just a maybe -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1181144 Title: [Dell XPS 13 (L322X)] Sometime system will stuck on waking up from Hibernate Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: CID: 201209-11840 Dell XPS 13 (L322X) Sometimes hibernate will work on this system, sometimes not.
