Hi!

I've experienced this problem on my Dell N7110. It's been present in 13.04 and 
in 13.10 dev release, too.
Attached some info from dmesg, which was written in the moment of the USB 3.0 
disconnect.

Will post apport info, too.

  After a clean install and upgdate of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS I can not use my
  USB 3.0 ports to restore files from my backup disk.
