[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1242272] Re: [HP EliteBook 8560w] Bluetooth does not work on ubuntu 13.10
Launchpad isn't allowing me to add my details to this report, but I don't another bug (assuming this is a duplicate) and it is set to expire in 4 days. The broadcom USB device is not even showing up in lsusb. It is detected and then disconnects. Since it used to work previously I am hesitant to upgrade my BIOS (as suggested by somebody) as HP conveniently disabled the CPU Turbo Mode in the newest BIOS due to some overheating issues (which are manageable, and I like to have the extra horsepower at my disposal). I also see no evidence that the BIOS upgrade changes the situation. Here is the attempt by system to load the btusb driver when enabling Bluetooth. I am also affected by this bug. Ubuntu 13.10 on a EliteBook 8560w. - Not able to connect or detect any bluetooth devices (loudspeaker, tablet, phone) - Once bluetooth is disabled is not possible to enable it again. Is there any additional information required for this bug? I can provide whatever is needed. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1242272] Re: [HP EliteBook 8560w] Bluetooth does not work on ubuntu 13.10
I can supply additional logs/traces. After 13.04 -> 13.10 upgrade, Ubuntu rendered my BT speakers useless. I'm on -generic amd64 kernel with 16GB RAM and a quad-core CPU (top of the line Lenovo T530 notebook). I had to delete+re-pair via blueman, then it started working, but I've been getting constant audio freezes/stutter ever since. This is the reason, although why it happens I have no idea - no other messages anywhere, CPU is idling, memory in abundance: Dec 4 19:18:24 ce02817 pulseaudio[3184]: [bluetooth] module-bluetooth-device.c: Skipping 40407 us (= 7124 bytes) in audio stream Dec 4 19:18:24 ce02817 pulseaudio[3184]: [bluetooth] module-bluetooth-device.c: Skipping 41043 us (= 7236 bytes) in audio stream The "stutters" are actually rather long audio dropouts (up to 1.5sec, definitely not in us range), usually in a sequence of 2-5 then about a minute OK and repeat. Before the upgrade, none BT/audio issues whatsoever (same speakers). Additionally, all audio (even the speaker check in control centre) is delayed by about 2-3sec when routed via BT. As in: click "Left speaker", button depresses, nothing for 2-3sec, then sound. Clicking left, right, left: the same, all played like a delayed FIFO. Possibly related is another problem - in Pulse Audio. After suspend/resume while listening to BT, system audio is dead and cannot be restarted. Mplayer output gives: CPLAYER: == DECAUDIO: Opening audio decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg/libavcodec audio decoders DECAUDIO: AUDIO: 22050 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 218.2 kbit/30.92% (ratio: 27273->88200) DECAUDIO: Selected audio codec: [ffadcpmswf] afm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg's ADPCM Flash-variant) CPLAYER: == Failed to create secure directory (/run/user/1000/pulse): Permission denied AUDIOOUT: AO: [pulse] Init failed: Connection refused AUDIOOUT: Failed to initialize audio driver 'pulse' Failed to create secure directory (/run/user/1000/pulse): Permission denied AUDIOOUT: [AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: pcm_hw.c:1557:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open '/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p' failed (-16): Device or resource busy AUDIOOUT: [AO_ALSA] alsa-lib: pcm_dmix.c:1022:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave AUDIOOUT: [AO_ALSA] Playback open error: Device or resource busy AUDIOOUT: Failed to initialize audio driver 'alsa' CPLAYER: Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound. I literally haven't had so many things broken with my desktop since upgrading good old Debian to Potato back in ~2001, but stable release Saucy trumps even that, because I can't even login to the desktop environment (after logging in, all sessions hang around gnome-keyring-daemon step with blank unkillable desktop). None of them! Not Flashback, not even my own (freedesktop compliant!) cusom WM gnome-fluxbox .session that worked for ages (and no, I have no desire to click & fight my way through that pathetic excuse for Linux Desktop Environment called Unity, so I haven't tried that one). Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy my funky Ubuntu ride through Maverick - Natty - Oneiric - Precise - Quantal - Raring, but it's time to return home. This "We're doing it our way, because it's The Best Way, so screw the rest" attitude adopted by most distros in the early days of Linux was precisely why I've fallen in love with the unassuming and open philosophy of Debian back in 90s. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1242272] Re: [HP EliteBook 8560w] Bluetooth does not work on ubuntu 13.10
I upgraded my laptop from 13.04 to 13.10. Previously with 13.04 my bluetooth mouse works very well. Now I have to make sure the mouse is in off condition before starting cold boot or resume from suspend, When Xubuntu completed the startup, I turn on the mouse, Xubuntu will setup the mouse correctly. If I turned on the mouse before the laptop, I have to restart the laptop, with the mouse off. This is very annoying. What should I do to fix this? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242272 Title: [HP EliteBook 8560w] Bluetooth does not work on ubuntu 13.10 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: HP EliteBook 8560w, Ubuntu 13.10 (no any problem in 13.04) cat /proc/version_signature Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 dmesg | grep -i bluetooth [ 10.744171] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.16 [ 10.744190] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized [ 10.744198] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized [ 10.744203] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized [ 10.744209] Bluetooth: SCO socket layer initialized [ 10.750931] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.3 [ 10.750935] Bluetooth: BNEP filters: protocol multicast [ 10.750945] Bluetooth: BNEP socket layer initialized [ 10.751432] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer initialized [ 10.751441] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized [ 10.751442] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.11 Trying to switch on bluetooth in System settings/Bluetooth - sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.004248] usb 2-1.6: new full-speed USB device number 13 using ehci-pci Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100829] usb 2-1.6: New USB device found, idVendor=03f0, idProduct=231d Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100841] usb 2-1.6: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100847] usb 2-1.6: Product: HP Integrated Module Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100852] usb 2-1.6: Manufacturer: Broadcom Corp Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w logger: loading HP Device 002 013 Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Unknown command complete for opcode 19 Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPAG Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPHS Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSource Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSink Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Adapter /org/bluez/516/hci0 has been enabled Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Adapter /org/bluez/516/hci0 has been disabled Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Unregister path: /org/bluez/516/hci0 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSink Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSource Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPAG Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPHS Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.377557] usb 2-1.6: USB disconnect, device number 13 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w python: io/hpmud/musb.c 2185: invalid busnum:devnum 002:013 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w python: io/hpmud/pp.c 627: unable to read device-id ret=-1 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w hp-config_usb_printer: hp-config_usb_printer[3073]: error: This is not a valid device Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w colord: Device added: sysfs-Broadcom_Corp-HP_Integrated_Module Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w colord: device removed: sysfs-Broadcom_Corp-HP_Integrated_Module --- ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: max2040 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: max2040 F pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 EcryptfsInUse: Yes HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=f6ed2745-5874-4729-9a3a-90fa1f0afde5 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-10-19 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Release amd64 (20131016.1) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8560w MarkForUpload: True Package: linux (not installed) ProcFB: 0 nouveaufb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-12-generic root=UUID=feb7997f-5ee7-472d-8956-9a093c6edda1 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.11.0-12-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.11.0-12-generic N/A linux-firmware

Running the command "hciconfig hci0 up" fixed it for me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242272 Title: [HP EliteBook 8560w] Bluetooth does not work on ubuntu 13.10 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: HP EliteBook 8560w, Ubuntu 13.10 (no any problem in 13.04) cat /proc/version_signature Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 dmesg | grep -i bluetooth [ 10.744171] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.16 [ 10.744190] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized [ 10.744198] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized [ 10.744203] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized [ 10.744209] Bluetooth: SCO socket layer initialized [ 10.750931] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.3 [ 10.750935] Bluetooth: BNEP filters: protocol multicast [ 10.750945] Bluetooth: BNEP socket layer initialized [ 10.751432] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer initialized [ 10.751441] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized [ 10.751442] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.11 Trying to switch on bluetooth in System settings/Bluetooth - sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.004248] usb 2-1.6: new full-speed USB device number 13 using ehci-pci Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100829] usb 2-1.6: New USB device found, idVendor=03f0, idProduct=231d Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100841] usb 2-1.6: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100847] usb 2-1.6: Product: HP Integrated Module Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100852] usb 2-1.6: Manufacturer: Broadcom Corp Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w logger: loading HP Device 002 013 Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Unknown command complete for opcode 19 Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPAG Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPHS Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSource Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSink Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Adapter /org/bluez/516/hci0 has been enabled Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Adapter /org/bluez/516/hci0 has been disabled Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Unregister path: /org/bluez/516/hci0 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSink Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSource Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPAG Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPHS Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.377557] usb 2-1.6: USB disconnect, device number 13 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w python: io/hpmud/musb.c 2185: invalid busnum:devnum 002:013 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w python: io/hpmud/pp.c 627: unable to read device-id ret=-1 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w hp-config_usb_printer: hp-config_usb_printer[3073]: error: This is not a valid device Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w colord: Device added: sysfs-Broadcom_Corp-HP_Integrated_Module Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w colord: device removed: sysfs-Broadcom_Corp-HP_Integrated_Module --- ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: max2040 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: max2040 F pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 EcryptfsInUse: Yes HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=f6ed2745-5874-4729-9a3a-90fa1f0afde5 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-10-19 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Release amd64 (20131016.1) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8560w MarkForUpload: True Package: linux (not installed) ProcFB: 0 nouveaufb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-12-generic root=UUID=feb7997f-5ee7-472d-8956-9a093c6edda1 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.11.0-12-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.11.0-12-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.116 Tags: saucy Uname: Linux 3.11.0-12-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo dmi.bios.date: 05/10/

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1242272] Re: [HP EliteBook 8560w] Bluetooth does not work on ubuntu 13.10
Bluetooth Avatalk bluetooth headset no longer works with 13.10 (was fine with 13.04). I've got a Samsung series 9 NP900X3E. It behaves erratically, sometimes it can detect the headset when in pairing mode other times it can't. When it does pair it usually can't connect but I did get it to work once until I rebooted. At the moment I can't even get it to pair with the device. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242272 Title: [HP EliteBook 8560w] Bluetooth does not work on ubuntu 13.10 Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: HP EliteBook 8560w, Ubuntu 13.10 (no any problem in 13.04) cat /proc/version_signature Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 dmesg | grep -i bluetooth [ 10.744171] Bluetooth: Core ver 2.16 [ 10.744190] Bluetooth: HCI device and connection manager initialized [ 10.744198] Bluetooth: HCI socket layer initialized [ 10.744203] Bluetooth: L2CAP socket layer initialized [ 10.744209] Bluetooth: SCO socket layer initialized [ 10.750931] Bluetooth: BNEP (Ethernet Emulation) ver 1.3 [ 10.750935] Bluetooth: BNEP filters: protocol multicast [ 10.750945] Bluetooth: BNEP socket layer initialized [ 10.751432] Bluetooth: RFCOMM TTY layer initialized [ 10.751441] Bluetooth: RFCOMM socket layer initialized [ 10.751442] Bluetooth: RFCOMM ver 1.11 Trying to switch on bluetooth in System settings/Bluetooth - sudo tail -f /var/log/syslog Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.004248] usb 2-1.6: new full-speed USB device number 13 using ehci-pci Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100829] usb 2-1.6: New USB device found, idVendor=03f0, idProduct=231d Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100841] usb 2-1.6: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100847] usb 2-1.6: Product: HP Integrated Module Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.100852] usb 2-1.6: Manufacturer: Broadcom Corp Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w logger: loading HP Device 002 013 Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Unknown command complete for opcode 19 Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPAG Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPHS Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSource Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint registered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSink Oct 20 10:46:58 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Adapter /org/bluez/516/hci0 has been enabled Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Adapter /org/bluez/516/hci0 has been disabled Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Unregister path: /org/bluez/516/hci0 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSink Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/A2DPSource Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPAG Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w bluetoothd[516]: Endpoint unregistered: sender=:1.64 path=/MediaEndpoint/HFPHS Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w kernel: [ 1351.377557] usb 2-1.6: USB disconnect, device number 13 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w python: io/hpmud/musb.c 2185: invalid busnum:devnum 002:013 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w python: io/hpmud/pp.c 627: unable to read device-id ret=-1 Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w hp-config_usb_printer: hp-config_usb_printer[3073]: error: This is not a valid device Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w colord: Device added: sysfs-Broadcom_Corp-HP_Integrated_Module Oct 20 10:46:59 max-8560w colord: device removed: sysfs-Broadcom_Corp-HP_Integrated_Module --- ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC1: max2040 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC0: max2040 F pulseaudio DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 EcryptfsInUse: Yes HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=f6ed2745-5874-4729-9a3a-90fa1f0afde5 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-10-19 (0 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Release amd64 (20131016.1) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8560w MarkForUpload: True Package: linux (not installed) ProcFB: 0 nouveaufb ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-3.11.0-12-generic root=UUID=feb7997f-5ee7-472d-8956-9a093c6edda1 ro quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.3 RelatedPackageVersions: linux-restricted-modules-3.11.0-12-generic N/A linux-backports-modules-3.11.0-12-generic N/A linux-firmware 1.116 Tags: saucy Uname: Linux 3.11.0-12
