an update is available for your BIOS (F.37). If you update to this
following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change
anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of
the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

i tried the iso of latest development release of ubuntu, but it force me
to do a recovery and reset all my partitions, swap and settings to
factory default. so i cannot try completely, but i saw still no wifi nor
bluetooth available in the ubuntu tray icons.

apport information sent with the working kernel 3.2.0-54.82

ps: the HP 650 notebook comes with pre-installed ubuntu with repository
/main(hp.archive.canonical.com) wich contains packages like oem-
wireless-rt2x00-1044172-dkms

2013-10-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
giardia, could you please confirm this issue exists with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains, could you
please boot into the kernel that works and execute at a terminal:
apport-collect 1244478

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1244478] Re: Kernel 3.2.0-55 is missing driver rt2800pci for Ralink RT3290 Wireless (unclaimed)

2013-10-25 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.12 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1244478] Re: Kernel 3.2.0-55 is missing driver rt2800pci for Ralink RT3290 Wireless (unclaimed)

2013-10-25 Thread giardia
tested the suggested mainline kernel. wireless is not unclaimed with
this kernel (recognized with lshw) but wifi is not working properly,
icon always flashing and requesting for the wpa passphrase but never
connects. also bluetooth not available! to have wifi and bluetooth
working i have to use again 3.2.0-54.82 kernel.

i got some error messages installing the mainline kernel headers,
probably about wireless modules, so i'll attache file make.log

afaik the bug is not fixed in the mainline kernel
