[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1247806] Re: Kernel resetting SATA link
I figured that for me the error messages disappear if you set the SATA mode to 'Compatibility Mode' instead of 'AHCI' in the BIOS. Ubuntu still booted after this change. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1247806] Re: Kernel resetting SATA link
I should have mentioned that I see the error message also if the NVidia Optimus BIOS option is disabled in contrast to what was reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/888764 . The error message is printed about every second even if the system does not freeze, so I can't say with certainty that it is casually related to the freezes I encountered. It pretty much renders dmesg useless. Trying to exclude an hardware error I have also tested with older kernels v3.9 and an ubuntu 13.04 LiveCD. With all of them I see the error message. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247806 Title: Kernel resetting SATA link Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: On Ubuntu 13.10 I encounter kernel reseting SATA link in connection with temporary system freezes (KDE lags). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1247806] Re: Kernel resetting SATA link
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.12 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance.
