Regarding the (complete) failure of the mic-key-test with the last kernel tested (v3.11.10.6-saucy), I can tell you that the situation has not deteriorated with the 14.04 Ubuntu-live beta version kernel; but it didn't get better with it, either. When started from a stick, the mic-key LED(!) worked (again), as it does now with the version 13.10 standard kernel, but the key itself doesn't seem to accomplish anything. By the way, there was also no change from the regular switch from version 3.11.0-17 to 3.11.0-18 recently, but here the LED still works.
