[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1306573] Re: The kernel seems to fail to cache disk blocks in some cases.
OK... Just for reference, the problem was fixed by installing a 64-bit kernel. Apparently something about caching doesn't work properly on a 32-bit machine with 16G RAM. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1306573 Title: The kernel seems to fail to cache disk blocks in some cases. When running Ubuntu 10.04, it would cache my mail directory (with way too many messages: about 2), and starting mutt was quick unless the daily backup had been running. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1306573] Re: The kernel seems to fail to cache disk blocks in some cases.
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest v3.14 kernel[0]. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag: 'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'. If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'. Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed". Thanks in advance.
