[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1338227] Re: [Sony VPCZ13C5E] late resume failure
Personally I don't need the kernel backported. But I just found out that on linux 13.6.0-4, suspend still fails *on battery power* and also on AC after first trying to suspend on battery. Perhaps this is unrelated to the original bug? This is what I found in syslog: Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851591] [ cut here ] Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851656] WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 10373 at /home/apw/COD/linux/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c:953 intel_wait_for_pipe_off+0x1de/0x1f0 [i915]() Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851659] pipe_off wait timed out Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851661] Modules linked in: md4 nls_utf8 cifs fscache pci_stub vboxpci(OE) bnep rfcomm bluetooth 6lowpan_iphc binfmt_misc vboxnetflt(OE) vboxnetadp(OE) vboxdrv(OE) parport_pc ppdev lp parport arc4 iwldvm mac80211 uvcvideo videobuf2_vmalloc videobuf2_memops videobuf2_core v4l2_common videodev media intel_powerclamp coretemp kvm_intel kvm microcode snd_hda_codec_realtek snd_hda_codec_generic snd_hda_intel snd_hda_controller snd_hda_codec joydev serio_raw snd_hwdep snd_pcm iwlwifi intel_ips cfg80211 snd_seq_midi snd_seq_midi_event snd_rawmidi sony_laptop snd_seq snd_seq_device snd_timer mac_hid mei_me snd mei lpc_ich soundcore tpm_infineon bbswitch(OE) dm_crypt mxm_wmi crct10dif_pclmul crc32_pclmul ghash_clmulni_intel aesni_intel aes_x86_64 lrw gf128mul glue_helper ablk_helper cryptd i915 psmouse ahci libahci e1000e i2c_algo_bit sdhci_pci drm_kms_helper ptp sdhci drm pps_core video wmi Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851736] CPU: 0 PID: 10373 Comm: Xorg Tainted: G D W OE 3.16.0-031600rc5-generic #201407131735 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851738] Hardware name: Sony Corporation VPCZ13C5E/VAIO, BIOS R3031C3 10/04/2011 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851741] 03b9 8802480bbb88 8178214c 0007 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851745] 8802480bbbd8 8802480bbbc8 8107007c 88024cb24000 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851748] 8802482c 00070008 000112f7 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851752] Call Trace: Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851761] [] dump_stack+0x46/0x58 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851767] [] warn_slowpath_common+0x8c/0xc0 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851770] [] warn_slowpath_fmt+0x46/0x50 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851804] [] intel_wait_for_pipe_off+0x1de/0x1f0 [i915] Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851834] [] intel_disable_pipe+0xc4/0xd0 [i915] Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851864] [] ironlake_crtc_disable+0xaf/0x270 [i915] Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851894] [] intel_crtc_update_dpms+0x6e/0xa0 [i915] Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851924] [] intel_connector_dpms+0x61/0x70 [i915] Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851946] [] drm_mode_connector_set_obj_prop+0xa4/0xb0 [drm] Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851966] [] drm_mode_obj_set_property_ioctl+0x138/0x220 [drm] Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851986] [] drm_mode_connector_property_set_ioctl+0x30/0x40 [drm] Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.851999] [] drm_ioctl+0x2e6/0x590 [drm] Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.852005] [] ? sysfs_notify+0x53/0xb0 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.852025] [] ? drm_mode_obj_set_property_ioctl+0x220/0x220 [drm] Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.852031] [] ? acct_account_cputime+0x1c/0x20 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.852036] [] ? account_user_time+0x99/0xb0 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.852039] [] ? vtime_account_user+0x5d/0x70 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.852044] [] do_vfs_ioctl+0x75/0x2c0 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.852049] [] ? syscall_trace_enter+0x165/0x280 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.852052] [] SyS_ioctl+0x91/0xb0 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.852057] [] tracesys+0xe1/0xe6 Jul 23 14:22:02 kupsu kernel: [ 319.852059] ---[ end trace f42929fe69957d3c ]--- -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1338227 Title: [Sony VPCZ13C5E] late resume failure Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Suspend fails: only network disconnects/reconnects, system remains usable (not sure how stable though). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1338227] Re: [Sony VPCZ13C5E] late resume failure
Orawa, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.16-rc5 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Low => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1338227 Title: [Sony VPCZ13C5E] late resume failure Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Suspend fails: only network disconnects/reconnects, system remains usable (not sure how stable though). [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1338227] Re: [Sony VPCZ13C5E] late resume failure
There is the problem that suspend fails, I can't suspend to RAM. Most of the times when I choose suspend, nothing seems to happen except for the network-manager disconnect/reconnect. Sometimes the system freezes and I have to do hard shutdown. At least once it kinda suspended, but on resume instead of lightdm greeter I got straight to the desktop, which was partly unresponsive (don't remember the specifics and haven't been able to reproduce this behavior). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1338227 Title: [Sony VPCZ13C5E] late resume failure Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Suspend fails: only network disconnects/reconnects, system remains usable (not sure how stable though).
