Had to power off Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: I hibernated with sudo pm-hibernate. When I turned on the computer, it booted quickly and soon the screen showed up as it looked like before the hibernation. Only it was frozen and wouldn't respond to anything. The clock was showing the time at which the computer had been hibernated (5 hours before). The battery icon showed the status as it was prior to hibernation (battery not connected to power) even if I connected it to power. The mouse cursor was not visible, the system didn't respond to mouse or keyboard (not even ctrl+alt+f1) Plugging in a usb hub with a keyboard did nothing (the keyboard's numlock led wouldn't turn on if I pressed numlock, that is, most probably the plugging in of the usb hub was completely ignored. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1348422] Re: system frozen after resume from hibernation. Had to power off
Teo, as per http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an update to your BIOS is available (2.21). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . I think you missed this part: > Now please don't tell me to install a bios update until there's a decent way to install it seamlessly from Ubuntu itself, without relying on freedos, flashrom, creating a windows repair disk and whatnot. If you expect bug victims -pardon- users to install bios updates in order to help you fix bugs, you should provide an easier way to install them. Also, unless you have a strong reason to think that the issue is *caused* (*caused*, not just triggered) by a bug in the bios that has been fixed in the update (which I doubt), then testing it against the bios update should not be a requirement to investigate and fix the issue in Ubuntu. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1348422 Title: system frozen after resume from hibernation.
