** Description changed:

I have installed (connnected online) ubuntu 14.04.1 on my sony vaio
vgntz31xn:

the laptop don't read sd card with internal reader ricoh: It's not a problem
hardware, because the reader go perfectly with windows.
This is the print of lspci:

09:04.1 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Ricoh Co Ltd R5C832 IEEE 1394 Controller (rev
04)
09:04.4 System peripheral: Ricoh Co Ltd R5C592 Memory Stick Bus Host Adapter
(rev 11)

I've tried all the patches found in web&forum, but they are all older
than 2 years and no one goes on my laptop: someone are these:

Many of these cases have solved the problem updating the old version, but the
newest doesn't work: it's strange.
I would some help, if it's possible: I'm not very expert of Ubuntu, but I'm
sure to leave windows and I would learn how.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1362168] Re: ubuntu14.04.1 don't read sd card on laptop sony vaio vgn-tz31xn

2014-09-04 Thread MAX60
I've tried to install the first of your list, but it doesn't go.
the version downloaded was the latest,
linux-headers-3.17.0-031700rc2-generic_3.17.0-031700rc2.201408251935_i386.deb
I've put it in a new directory, called headers317 but this is the response to
command dpkg-i:

massimo@SONY:~$ cd '/home/massimo/Scaricati/headers317'
massimo@SONY:~/Scaricati/headers317$ sudo dpkg -i
[sudo] password for massimo:

"less" o "more".
massimo@SONY:~/Scaricati/headers317

I need some other help, please: maybe I am in error when I try to launch the
command:
A guide step by step could be helpful.
Thanks

Title:
ubuntu14.04.1 don't read sd card on laptop sony vaio vgn-tz31xn

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have installed (connnected online) ubuntu 14.04.1 on my sony vaio
vgntz31xn:

the laptop don't read sd card with internal reader ricoh: It's not a problem
hardware, because the reader go perfectly with windows.
This is the print of lspci:

  Thanks

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1362168] Re: ubuntu14.04.1 don't read sd card on laptop sony vaio vgn-tz31xn

2014-08-28 Thread MAX60
To Joseph Salisbury (jsalisbury)

This is an old issue, I have found some case on UBUNTU from 8.04
(http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-766892.html)to 12.04 (an other
vaio, http://forum.ubuntu-it.org/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=522361 ), but never for a
laptop like the mine.
I was sure that with the release 14 the problem was solved, but it is not so.

I' have tried to upstream the last kernel

linux-
headers-3.17.0-031700rc2-generic_3.17.0-031700rc2.201408251935_i386.deb

'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'

Maybe the truth is that I am not able to operate.
this is the response message:

root@SONY:/home# sudo dpkg -i
/linux-headers-3.17.0-031700rc2-generic_3.17.0-031700rc2.201408251935_i386.deb

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1362168] Re: ubuntu14.04.1 don't read sd card on laptop sony vaio vgn-tz31xn

2014-08-27 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Did this issue occur in a previous version of Ubuntu, or is this a new
issue?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.17 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Many of these cases have solved the problem updating the old version, but the
newest doesn't work: it's strange.
I would some help, if it's possible: I'm not very expert of Ubuntu, but I'm
sure to leave windows and I would learn how.
  Thanks

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1362168] Re: ubuntu14.04.1 don't read sd card on laptop sony vaio vgn-tz31xn

2014-08-27 Thread MAX60
Thank you: In effect, all the solutions that I have found were related to an
old release of kernel (2.xx, and not the actual 3.xx).
Thanks again

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1362168] Re: ubuntu14.04.1 don't read sd card on laptop sony vaio vgn-tz31xn

2014-08-27 Thread Daniel Manrique
I'm moving this bug to the kernel, as it looks like a driver problem
which is more kernel-related. The system is not certified so this is not
related to the certification program.

Thanks!

** Project changed: ubuntu-certification => linux (Ubuntu)
