[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1372393] Re: [Acer Aspire E5-572G] touchpad not recognised

2015-04-07 Thread Nebula
Hello Po-Hsu Lin (cypressyew)!

Yes indeed, I mentioned only touching not clicking...

Concernig the bug 1188025 that you mentioned it writes that is fixed
on kernel 3.13, and I think this the default kernel for ubuntu, which
did not recognise it at all

Concerning the link [1] that you mentioned, I took a quick view and do you
suggest to follow this guide?
If yes I would like you help because I am afraid that I will mess it up..

Firstly in this guide is mentioned of configuring the file
50-synaptics.conf which is located to
/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf but in my system there is no such
a file there, but (by searching on root) I found that on
/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf.

Now I am going to show you the contents of this file, and If you think
this is the solution of the problem you could suggest me what to do
next...

# Example xorg.conf.d snippet that assigns the touchpad driver
# to all touchpads. See xorg.conf.d(5) for more information on
# InputClass.
# DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE, your distribution will likely overwrite

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1372393] Re: [Acer Aspire E5-572G] touchpad not recognised

2015-04-06 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Hi,
You mentioned about touching on the right-bottom corner, you mean click on
that area or just touch it?
If you're taking about clicking, this means that your right key detection area
might be too narrow.
In such case you can change it by adapting the xinput set prop command found
in [1], but remember to change the touchpad name from SynPS/2 Synaptics
TouchPad to what you're using (from your xinput output I guess it's the one
with id=11, you can just put 11 here), and change the coordinate accordingly.

Clickpad has only one button beneath it, for right click to work, it's
combined with the click event and the detection with your finger on the
right key area. For the issue described in bug 1188025, that laptop has
two button under the clickpad, but the kernel think it's a clickpad with
only one button, making the right key not working at all.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1372393] Re: [Acer Aspire E5-572G] touchpad not recognised

2015-03-03 Thread Nebula
@ Aaron Garcia (aaror)

I can't find such a thing on BIOS

@Po-Hsu Lin (cypressyew)

Indeed, when I am touching on the right-bottom corner (near the limits of
touchpad area) of my touchpad shows me the menu of right click.. I could say
that is not so user friendly, because the area that i have to tap is very small
and works 7/10 times...
When I press the left button with a pen, left click is working. Or did you
mean touching with a pen? Definitely is not doing anything...
Concernig about bug 1188025, (with a quick look) as far I understood this
was fixed on kernel 3.13.0-35.62 which I think that is the default kernel on
Linux Mint 17, which I have installed on my laptop, but on this kernel my
touchpad is not recognised at all. Only on latest kernels is recognised. Now I
am using Linux Kernel 3.18.7-031807-generic

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1372393] Re: [Acer Aspire E5-572G] touchpad not recognised

2015-03-02 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
Hi Nebula,
For right clicks on your clickpad (touchpad without physical buttons)
I'm wondering if you could do right click correctly by putting a finger on the
right button area (but do not press down)
And use a pen or some other object that touchpad can't recognize to click on
the left button?

There is once a bug 1188025, which is a clickpad with 2 buttons beneath
it, but the kernel think there is only one button.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1372393] Re: [Acer Aspire E5-572G] touchpad not recognised

2015-02-17 Thread Aaron Garcia
You can use the Trackpad on the Acer Aspire E15 if you enter the BIOS by
holding F2 at startup and changing the Trackpad setting from Advanced to
Basic under the Main tab. This solved my issue with the Trackpad. Now
I'm exploring why the BIOS is preventing Ubuntu from booting from an
external drive - I believe the secure boot option is responsible for
that.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1372393] Re: [Acer Aspire E5-572G] touchpad not recognised

2014-12-04 Thread Nebula
Hello! My touchpad is recognised, but is not working like in windows
I described how is working in post #7.
For instance, right click isn't workinng, instead of that I have to do tap with
both fingers in order to show my options for right clicking, leftt clicking
combined with a move, in order to select some files is not working, althought i
can do that, by pressing the touchpad and making a move with one finger
Sorry that I had a delay to my response...
Best regards!
Thank you for your help!

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1372393] Re: [Acer Aspire E5-572G] touchpad not recognised

2014-12-04 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Nebula, ok, so just to clarify, does the touchpad work now in 14.04 or
are you still using the mainline kernel you said you tested?

If you are still using the mainline, this report is still pending your
results from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1372393/comments/5
.

Hello Nebula,
since this bug is opened for Touchpad (Clickpad), please just report the
situation you see when bisecting earlier kernels.
Thanks!

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1372393] Re: [Acer Aspire E5-572G] touchpad not recognised

2014-09-25 Thread Nebula
Still bluetooth is loaded some times...

Touch pad is working fine, but I would like to mention some things:
I can not combine pressing the left click button and making a move in touch
area at the same time (with two fingers at once), although I can do with an
other way... New touch pads doesn't have descrete buttons for left and right
click , and by pressing in the bottom half area of the touch pad, is clicking.
So by pressing the touch pad, and making a move (because touch is working at
the same time) is working.*

The difference is that on windows is the opposite... left ckick button
(left corner) + touch move is working but the other method doesn't...

*I am sorry if i didn't make my self clear, and if you didn't understand
what I mean...

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1372393] Re: [Acer Aspire E5-572G] touchpad not recognised

2014-09-24 Thread Nebula
I have reinstalled kernel 3.17-rc6 and seems to be ok now, without crashing,
but I i think that still there is an issue about bluetooth, some times is
unable to load the pach...
I am going to test this kernel for the whole day and then I will inform you if
everything is OK...
Thank you for your help!
