Basically my computer performance has slowed to a crawl, after running the most recent update for Unbutu 12.04 PP. I did find some firefox exploits (deleted). unfortunately I didn't save my old kernels to revert back. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1391711] Re: Slow computer performance following recent update
I am finding recurring exploits in both firefox & chromium .cache folders. Whenever my computer slows down, I run ClamTK and invariably they have reappeared. I'd like to get rid of them for good. I don't know if they are reloading from a file elsewhere that I mistakenly downloaded in past, or if they occur from certain tabs I have open. A clear diagnostic and reverse tracking protocol would be very useful to me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1391711 Title: Slow computer performance following recent update Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I ran apport which found nothing. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1391711] Re: Slow computer performance following recent update
I began using chromium and I thought my slow browser problems were over but they began in it as well. I noticed leaving the computer on overnight with open tabs causes to run much slower by morning. Today i ran ClamTK and found over a dozen exploits, the same ones, recurring, in both chromium and firefox, and while I can delete them or quarantine them, it's only a short-term fix, they do come back. I'm quite certain now that my system is being attacked and while their apps may/or may not execute, my system performance is compromised/degraded. I would very much like to learn how to remove this recurring infection. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1391711 Title: Slow computer performance following recent update Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: I ran apport which found nothing. Re: [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1391711] Re: Slow computer performance following recent update
Dear Joseph: Re: Upstream testing, can you tell me how to get the instruction "sudo dpkg -i *.deb" added in terminal to find the downloaded app? I downloaded the upstream kernel into its own folder but I don't know how to specify in the command so it will find & load it. Thank you. --Dean von Germeten On Friday, November 14, 2014 3:30 PM, dean germeten wrote: Upstream testing is a bit above my learning curve at this point, but I'd like to add that I installed the bare-bones chromium browser from the software-center that works flawlessly, so I think the problem is maybe not the kernel but in firefox browser, slow to open, unresponsive. Running ClamTK every few sessions shows I'm picking up exploits in .../.cache/mozilla using firefox browser, just visiting very safe, plain vanilla sites, like yahoo. I've reset firefox and done most of their fixes to no effect. There's no setting I can find that allows me to quickly clear the cache, I don't want to lose my open tabs. Thank you for the tireless hard work you people do out of love. --Dean von Germeten On Thursday, November 13, 2014 11:11 AM, Joseph Salisbury wrote: Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel?
