[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1426259] Re: Dell XPS13 regularly loses connection/becomes unusable on Intel 7260

2015-03-23 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
gianluca, as reports are scoped to both the WiFi chipset used, and the
router one has a problem with, let us close this report.

If you are having a problem with a specific chipset+router combination
(ex. EUDORAM), it is best if you filed a new report while connected to
it, or immediately after having attempted to connect with
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . As well, please provide
the missing information from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LinuxWireless .

Thank you for your understanding.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1426259] Re: Dell XPS13 regularly loses connection/becomes unusable on Intel 7260

2015-03-23 Thread gianluca
Hello Christopher, thanks for the mail.

It took me one week to reply since I wanted to make some tests with
different wifi.

I upgraded the BIOS:

 sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

A06
11/07/2014

Then, due to a business travel I tested the laptop in several
situations. The outcome is a little bit surprising for me in the sense
that there is a strong improvement but the problem is not totally solved
yet while I expected a stationary situation or the complete solution of
it.

It now connects very nicely to my home wifi and to my smart-phone hot
spot (it didn't before). It connected to the wifi of a couple of
airports but I experiences problems with EUDORAM (the academic network).

So, let me say 8 out of 10 worked fine.

Thanks for your help, I'm a little bit unsure on how to proceed,
g.

[Kernel-packages] [Bug 1426259] Re: Dell XPS13 regularly loses connection/becomes unusable on Intel 7260

2015-03-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
gianluca, as per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-
support/product/xps-13-9333/drivers an update to your computer's buggy
and outdated BIOS is available (A06). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.
