On 06/04/2015 03:32 PM, Dr JD Wallach wrote: Hi, Yes, WiFi was also failing for me. The workaround solves the WiFi problem also. Good luck. This workaround did not help in my situation. When Ubuntu came up (both the login screen and the desktop) it was already telling me my network connection was down. Maybe it's a question of timing. It's hard enough to get grub to come up. I have to carefully press ESC repeatedly - but not too fast - or I don't see grub. Once I'm in grub it's easy enough to just boot the -46 kernel. But thanks, perhaps this will provide a clue to the fixers. By the way, what hardware are you finding this on? [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1440174] Re: Keyboard and Mouse don't work with latest Kernel
What, please, is the status of this bug? Is there a fix or candidate fix in any newer version of the kernel? Since I signed on to this bug in early April, I have been looking for some resolution to it. For awhile I was checking each new kernel release to see if the bug was fixed. I have downgraded to 3.13.0-46, the last version that works with my computer. The later releases can not even be installed by the auto-installer. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440174 Title: Keyboard and Mouse don't work with latest Kernel Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: 1) Description: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Release: 14.04 2) Linux / The kernel 3) I expected my usb devices to work on the login page 4) They don't work :) ... [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1440174] Re: Keyboard and Mouse don't work with latest Kernel
Joseph, just to advise, this is not Fix Committed as defined in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status . Despite this, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 3.13 to 4.0-rc7 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this commit has been identified, then it may be reviewed as a candidate for backporting into your release. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Thank you for your understanding. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1440174] Re: Keyboard and Mouse don't work with latest Kernel
I have Ubuntu installed on my 17'' core-duo intel imac, with an encrypted root partition. Version 12.04 with 13.5.0-17-generic worked ok, but I updated to the LTS version 14.04. The system now freezes before asking for my encryption password when booting (I am using EFI with grub2) with my old kernel (13.5.0-17-generic) and with no args on the kernel command line. If I put nomodeset the boot progresses to the encryption password and I can successfully login, however the video is completely scrambled (I literally cannot make out anything). Having tried many ways to fix the video, I tried the latest kernel (3.13.0-48-generic). In this case the boot gets to the password, but the keyboard/mouse does not respond. Again I tried many fixes, unsuccesfully. I installed the extras so as to have usbhid, mac_hid etc, and found that the behaviour now reverted precisely to that outlined above for 13.5.0-17-generic; that is scrambled graphics but successful login (with nomodeset), and ok graphics but no keyboard (without nomodeset). I tried manually adding only the hid modules to my initrd.img-3.13.0-48-generic built prior to install of extra, but found graphics again ok but still no keyboard !
